Experience the immersion of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X use ceiling or up-firing speakers for three-dimensional and fully immersive sound. Whether it’s rain falling in a tropical jungle or the intense sound of overhead gunfire, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X put you in the centre of the action.
Extra height, without the speakers - Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X
As impressive as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound, it’s not always possible to accommodate the extra speakers. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X Height Virtualisation technology go some way to help fix. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec. Compatible with 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives the impression of height and immersive sound.
Ready for 8K, with dedicated HDMI input
Featuring a dedicated, 8K compliant HDMI input and matching output, this Denon AVR is ready for the next generation of TV. Not only does the amp pass through 8K/60Hz signals, but it also upscales HDMI signals to the 8K standard, too – helping you make the most of your 8K TV with 4K UHD media. If you’ve not yet made the jump to 8K TV, the socket also handles up to 4K/120Hz signals, for the highest quality pass through and upscaling with 4K UHD.
Supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dynamic HDR
Equipped with a flexible 6 in/2 out HDMI interface, the AVR-X2700H also supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV, as well as Dynamic HDR. In short, whatever the format used by the film, game or stream, the Denon supports it.
Serious about gaming
The latest HDMI support also marks a big improvement in gaming. 4K/120Hz and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support maximise resolution and clarity. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help eliminate lag and frame tearing, giving you a smoother, more responsive gaming experience.
Now works with all the voice assistants
The AVR-X2700 adds Siri and Google Assistant to Alexa, making it more widely compatible with voice assistants than before. For Alexa or Google Assistant control, simply download the HEOS app. Pair your Echo device if you’re using Alexa and you’re good to go. For control via Siri, simply link the amp via Apple AirPlay 2 and enjoy voice interaction and AirPlay 2 multi-room support.
HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. Control it all with the HEOS app
Once you've set up your HEOS speaker system, you can stream music effortlessly via the dedicated HEOS app. Available for Apple iOS and Android, the app not only lets you stream your stored music but also Internet radio services and popular streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Napster and Deezer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DominicJ1984 from I just don't have the vocabulary to describe this. I bought this a week ago and only regrets are not buying it earlier and not buying it's bigger brother! I've had surround sound for over a decade, starting with low end "one box" systems and moving on to a very low end proper system. I only bought this because my last had a terminal whisky related accident and most things are still out of stock, but wow, and I'm only using it as 5.1 5.2.2 is on the agenda now This is just a whole other world, it's cliche, but it's like being at the cinema. I mean, it's exactly like the cinema, but it's amazing, I just don't have the words. Big thanks to John and the stockport team.

Rated 5 out of 5 by samw51 from Great device, excellent sound quality I bought this to replace an Onkyo TXNR509 which had been great over the years. However a lack of 4K HDMI switching was frustrating, and it didn't support the latest sound formats. It then also went pop meaning I had a chance to upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pekay from Denon steps up! Firstly thanks to the Team at RS Stockport, my old Onkyo nearly 6 years was still within the warranty period so after it developed a fault with the ARC they did'nt hesitate in replacing it, Nate recommended the Denon and the fee to upgrade was acceptable, easy amp to set up using inbuilt Audessy feature, initial impressions are great sound and an improvment on the Onkyo, not had chance to stretch its legs yet with a decent movie soundtrack but i dont think it will disappoint.

Rated 4 out of 5 by The Dood from Solid upgrade Bought to replace an ageing (but very good) Yamaha AX763, mainly due to it's lack of ARC/eARC. Wasn't expecting an immediate difference in sound, as I was still using same 5.1 setup and speakers but was very pleasantly surprised to find a big upgrade in the surround decoding straight off the bat. Still to sort levels when playing Atmos soundtracks but sound from C1 tv and PCM from PC is excellent. Few niggles when switching resolutions but can always persuade it out of it's sulk by switching input on the remote and back again, or resetting GPU drivers on PC. Considering a pair of atmos speakers now but no rush as I'm very happy with the sound upgrade as it is! Usual top notch service from RS, bought all my tech from then for the past decade or so and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Broncy786 from Amazing Customer Service I was looking for a decent setup for a while and whilst delaying my purchase due to the lack of the most recent up to date knowledge on current systems. This wasn't the case any more because Richer Sounds in Plymouth helped me choose my ideal system, although I had an idea on what I wanted the shop helped me decide and I went ahead with my purchase. The staff member was extremely knowledgeable and applied no pressure this made me go ahead and buy from them....

Rated 5 out of 5 by AndyLane from Great, easy to set up, fantastic quality, great pr Bought this for my home 5.1 set up and it’s performing brilliantly. It was easy to set up but thorough enough that I’m confident that I’m getting a well calibrated sound. As far as my ears can tell that’s exactly what I’m getting and I love it. It integrates well with Alexa and control by voice and my fire stick remote we’re easy to set ip and work flawlessly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dr Lam from Great 4K/HDR 7.1 Dolby Atmos/DTS-X 95w receiver Purchased the Denon AVR-X2700H 7.2 channel AV receiver through the web sales team. The agent (Felix) was very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. I wondered if the receiver may have a problem driving two sets of 4-ohm speakers. He reassured me that it should not be a problem, but if it was, I could contact him by email and he would arrange a free collection for return. Also received free speaker cables worth £50. Felix arranged for next-day delivery. I’ve had the receiver for a few days now. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by its AV performance as a 7.1 channel amplifier, and its musical abilities in stereo. In my opinion it is far superior to the similarly priced and specified Yamaha RXV-6A receiver which I also own (purchased from Richer Sounds in Nov 2020). Felix kindly provided advice in setting up the receiver based on my existing equipment. The sources include a Sony PS5 (for Games and UHD 4K Blu-ray discs), Xbox One S, Sky Q and Amazon Firestick 4K Max. The output goes to a LG UHD 4K TV and a UHD 4K HDR projector (Optoma UHD35, also purchased from Richer Sounds). I’m using HDMI 2.1 cables for input and output except for the projector which is limited to HDMI 2.0. The speaker set-up is 5.1.2 (including front height speakers). The UHD 4K HDR (HDR 10 and Dolby Vision where available) images are sharp and crisp, as expected. I’ve not tested the 4K 120Hz feature as I don’t have any appropriate display nor monitor for it. Sound wise, the receiver outputs Dolby Atmos without any issues, but you’ll need to configure your sources very carefully. For instance, DA can be output in one of two ways on your existing equipment: either as uncompressed Dolby TrueHD, or compressed Dolby Digital Plus. On my equipment, the PS5 and Xbox One S are capable of passing through DA signals via Dolby TrueHD on UHD 4K Blu-ray discs, and the Denon recognizes the Atmos soundtrack. Make sure you configure your PS5 and Xbox One S correctly to output Bitstream for sound output. For the Xbox One S this is easy. For the PS5, it’s more complicated. Firstly, check your Sound output is set to AV Amplifier (not TV nor soundbar), then choose 7.1 speaker set-up, and Dolby (not DTS nor PCM). Next, on the Blu-ray disc menu, set Language output to Dolby Atmos, and finally, whilst playing the disc, go to the Options Disc Menu and select Audio output as Bitstream instead of PCM. You should get Atmos sound. You can confirm the 7.1 signal by pressing the Info button on the Denon remote which displays the source signal (i.e. Atmos via Dolby TrueHD or Atmos via Dolby Digital Plus). You can also get Atmos sound for Games and Netflix/Disney Plus/Amazon Prime Video streams via the Xbox One S (but sadly not the PS5 due to licencing issues), but note that this is via compressed Dolby Digital Plus. To my surprise, the Denon was able to recognise this difference between compressed and uncompressed signals. The Amazon Firestick 4K Max (connected to the Media Player HDMI port with power supplied by the front USB port) also outputs Dolby Atmos sound via Dolby Digital Plus; make sure you configure the Sound settings correctly on the Firestick in Settings (choose Dolby Digital Plus, not Best Available). You should be able to stream programmes in Atmos (numerous in Netflix and Disney, a few in Amazon Prime; I’ve not come across any on Apple TV). For non-Atmos sound signals (e.g. Dolby Digital 5.1 or stereo), the Denon can make use of your additional front height or ceiling speakers via the Dolby Surround or DTS Neural X. The sound is not as discrete nor convincing as a true Dolby Atmos stream but at least you'll get sound from your 6th and 7th speakers. For those with 5.1 (or less) speaker set ups, you can use Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer or DTS Virtual X for sound transmitted in Dolby or DTS stereo/5.1, to virtually create sound from virtual height speakers Moving onto music. I listen to high-definition music (streamed via Qobuz and Tidal) and I have dedicated stereo systems in other rooms for this, using pre and power amps and floorstanding speakers. The Denon does a remarkable job in reproducing music (especially in analogue when connected to am external DAC). It’s far superior to the Yamaha RVX-6A in this regard. The DAC for music in stereo is fine, but clearly inferior to external DACs used with dedicated stereo amps. I suspect most people who buy this will only use it for music occasionally; its main strength is in its 7.1 UHD 4K HDR AV capabilities. Overall, I’m extremely happy and satisfied with the Denon, which has exceeded my expectation. I’m also very pleased with the service from Richer Sounds (i.e. Felix), who went beyond the call of duty in providing advice during and after the purchase. I would highly recommend the Denon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by grailpr2 from Jury still out but sounding good Having bought a fantastic Sony OLED a few weeks ago i followed the upgrade path and bought the Denon on the recommendation of Charlie in the Glasgow store. Connections and set up were very easy, great spaced out speaker ports. Used the Audyssey microphone for the set up and to be honest was not impressed. Cleared the settings and went to manual set up and got the sound balance i wanted. I may go back to Audyssey and try it again in the future but for now I am happy with the sound. Simple to operate although the remote control feels a bit cheap for a receiver at this price. So far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Applicaitoncen from Denon AVR 2700H from Richer Sounds in Exeter Setting up this fantastic Denon AVR 2700H is really easy. It knocks your socks off with a decent speaker set up. Configuring a 7:1 speaker / Sub arrangement with the supplied Audyssey mike takes a little time, but the on screen instructions are a breeze to follow. The built-in display has plenty of graphic info & very helpful even if not connected to a TV. The units have been factory upgraded to handle 120Hz@4k as well as 60Hz@8k - so no need to rely on dodgy firmware promises. You can check this as the serial number will be above ******7000. It has native Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and Dynamic HDR - so 4k HDR streaming from NetFlix and Disney will immediately work on LG and Samsung screens covering most-all TV makes. Just make certain your TV handles Dolby Vision or HDR 10+ so you can actually see HDR content properly. It has a phono input to run classic turntables direct without the need for a pre amp - so I hauled my Dual 505 deck out of retirement and blew the dust off some vinyl! I wanted to run a high end gaming PC with a NVidia 3090 using HDMI 2.1 with ethernet - no problem. The Denon AV is backward compatible and all the existing older HDMI cables work with the original devices such as a Sky+ HD box. It is nice to have all the devices wake up and shut down with a minimum of swapping remotes. I prefer to use a Fire TV as opposed to the LG TV's Amazon and Netflix Apps, and the pass thorough eARC HDMI connector works perfectly with onboard Apps sending sound from the TV to the amp. It is a nice piece of gear. It works. No hassles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mr MSC from Amazing experience! Just like being at the movies! I was looking for an outstanding surround sound experience to make the most of my movie collection, not to mention the various streaming services I subscribe to. After hours of research, I took a trip to my local Richer Sounds in Bath, where Paul, the manager patiently explained my options and recommended the Denon X2700H Receiver and Monitor Audio MASS speaker system. It was delivered within a day and is now set up. Wow! I’m used to top quality hi-fi; this doesn’t disappoint - movies have never sounded this good and the system with its hosts of features make listening to music as well as movies an exhilarating experience. Many thanks Paul for your sound advice and for the competitive price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dai22 from Top Stuff This was bought as an upgrade to a 5 year old Denon Model that was playing up regularly. Straight out of the box, this version had all the familiarity of the older 2200 but with a refinement to the menus and controller. Setup with a Cambridge Audio 5.1 System this sounds fantastic. Definitely worth the upgrade. Top Help from the Guys in Cardiff too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great product, great service, what's not to like! Brought this product 2 weeks ago along with some Atmos speakers and my viewing experience has gone from good to amazing. The Denon is a great piece of kit, so many options and menu's to explore, i think I've only scratched the surface with what this unit is capable of. Set up was easy enough and calibration again took some minor tweaks but all in all its very impressive. If you have 4K capabilities than this Denon AVR is a must have, cannot recommend highly enough, dont think just go get, you will not be disappointed especially if your going from an older AVR which i was to this, night and day difference. Just like the Denon customer services at Chiswick Richer sounds was wonderful, shout out the Matthew who answered all my tech questions and was a big help. Next up will be a new 4K player and i wouldn't hesitate to go back to Chiswick Richer Sounds.
