”Whafedale's refined, entertaining and affordable floorstanders take the top spot for yet another year.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2024 award-winner.
Strong bass with unobtrusive style from this compact floorstander Ideal for medium-sized rooms, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 offers the deep, powerful sound you'd expect from floorstanding speakers while keeping the overall dimensions relatively compact. Using a second, dedicated bass woofer, the Diamond 12.3 punches hard. Not only does this second woofer unit increase the depth and volume of bass, it also helps to 'fill out' the sound at lower volumes, making this an ideal speaker for use at all volume levels.
Flexible speaker The size of these speakers makes them equally at home as stereo or front speakers as part of a Diamond 12-Series home cinema system. They're also easy to place, working well close to or away from the rear wall.
Ground-up redesign Although this is a speaker with all the Diamond traits in place, the design is completely new. Making use of powerful computer modelling, the Diamond 12.3 is engineered to perform. Totally new drive units use a motor system more typically found in professional speakers – giving excellent power handling and low distortion. The new Klarity cone material uses a hybrid construction to give lightning-fast response in the bass and mid-range, while the woven textile tweeter delivers the perfect balance between detail and refinement.
Choice of finishes Available in black, light oak or walnut finishes, the 12.3 suits a wide range of decors. The cabinet itself is engineered from differing thicknesses of MDF to control resonance. Combined with the strategic bracing, this makes it solid and free from the distorting ‘boxy’ sound. In short, you get to hear the soul of your music, distortion-free.
Delivering a rich, powerful sound, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 is a sparkling performer.
Stylish and room-friendly, but with ample bass to add drama to any soundtrack, the REL HT1003 MKII is a masterful subwoofer.
Twice as loud as before The original HT/1003 was certainly no slouch in the impact department, but the new REL HT/1003 MKII now delivers sound that’s up to twice as loud. Featuring a new CarbonGlas 10 inch woofer and a much-improved 300 watt amplifier, the MKII version optimises its hardware for greater slam with less distortion. With its appetite for powerful dynamics, this ‘baby’ REL brings a heightened realism to everything from action movies to shoot ‘em up gaming.
Power with control Although the HT/1003 MKII goes deep and loud it doesn’t do this at the expense of sound quality. The sub uses an array of PerfectFilters and a rigid cabinet to produce a low distortion, highly realistic bass. This means that a bass guitar, for example, actually sound like the real thing, rather than just a one-note bass sound. REL’s PerfectFilters include an analogue subsonic filter that minimises the effect of soundtrack infra-noise. This helps push the distortion threshold higher, maximising the bass unit’s performance.
Optional HT-Air* for wireless connectivity If you’d like to cut out the cable, then check out REL’s industry-leading HT-Air wireless system. Unlike other wireless subs, the HT-Air uses a unique, zero compression, system developed exclusively by REL. Using a state-of-the-art chipset, the HT-Air wireless transmitter offers flawless signal quality with zero compression. Delivering a latency (lag) figure of just 16-20 milliseconds, it’s hugely superior to the more common Bluetooth method of wireless connection. Put simply, the bass keeps up and stays in time with the action.
*Available at additional cost.
Surprisingly stylish Rarely known for their good looks, subwoofers are often the least attractive and most difficult to accommodate home cinema components. The REL HT/1003 MKII seeks to change that. Rounded edges and elegant feet reduce visual bulk, making this subwoofer harmonise with your interior better than most. The black textured finish has an aluminium look which contrasts with the sleek gloss top plate. Considering its 10 inch bass driver, the sub is relatively compact, too.
Adjust to suit your room A selection of controls, handily labelled to be read from above, make it easy to fine-tune the REL to your room. The level control establishes the volume while the Crossover control gives seamless integration with your existing speakers. If your room dictates that the sub is positioned behind you, then simply flick the phase switch and the sub corrects the sound to match your other speakers. If it’s tucked out of sight, then use the Auto power function for hands-free power-up.
Hear the bottom end that you’ve been missing out on, with the REL HT/1003 MKII.
”Wharfedale's affordable standmounts deliver fantastic audio for a modest sum.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2024 award-winner.
The legend continues It was way back in 1982 when the Wharfedale Diamond first redefined expectations of small speakers. The original model proved that a small speaker didn't necessarily need to sound 'small', that a budget speaker could sound full-bodied without being intrusive. The latest Diamond 12.1 is true to the original’s ethos and has already proved to be a big hit.
Flexible speaker The beauty with compact Diamond speakers is their sheer versatility - and the 12.1 is no different. The compact size and high sensitivity makes them the ideal companion for mini systems or hi-fi separates systems alike. They're also easy to place, working well close to or away from the rear wall. If you're looking for quality home cinema speakers, they also work exceptionally well as satellite speakers - there's even a centre speaker to match.

Making use of powerful computer modelling, the Diamond 12.1 is engineered to perform. In short, you get to hear the soul of your music, distortion-free.
With a fresh new design, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is still the small speaker to beat.
Enjoy crystal-clear vocals, with the Wharfedale Diamond 12.C.
The perfect match for a Diamond AV speaker system With matching aesthetics and drive unit design, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.C centre makes the ideal centre speaker to match up with other Diamond 12 speakers in a surround sound set up. Use either Diamond 12.1s or 12.2s as satellite speakers all around or match with larger Diamond 12.3 or 12.4 floorstanders at the front, and you have a perfectly matched speaker system. Alternatively, the crisp and precise vocals make the Diamond 12.C ideal as a centre speaker upgrade from more basic speaker systems.
Immersive sound Featuring twin cones, the 12.C centre speaker delivers a wide, immersive sound. Effortlessly filling the space between the front speakers, the 12.C brings cinematic movies to life.
