Powerful bass from dedicated subwoofer
Helping you to truly feel like you’re at the movies, the Denon DHT-S517 is supplied with a separate subwoofer. Featuring a bass reflex port, this subwoofer is both compact and powerful. For easy positioning, the link between soundbar and sub is wireless.
Tailor the sound
With three listening modes, you can tailor the sound to suit your choice of entertainment. Choose between Movie, Night or Music modes for the ideal sonic balance with films, late night viewing and music.
Bluetooth music streaming
More than just a soundbar, this Denon soundbar is also an effective music player. Thanks to a built-in Bluetooth receiver, you can link your smartphone, PC, laptop or other device with Bluetooth and stream your stored music or music services such as Spotify. It means that you'll not only enjoy superior TV sound but also have a quality system for your music, too.
Easy to set-up
For the highest quality link, take advantage of the latest eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) HDMI connection. Don’t worry if your TV doesn’t have eARC, the HDMI socket is also backwards compatible with ARC. For even older TVs or games consoles, there are also optical and 3.5mm analogue inputs.
Enjoy a more immersive sound, with the Atmos enhanced, Denon DHT-S517.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shugster65 from Denon DHT-517 Good reviews for good priced Atmos soundbar. Early use was fine but through our sky minibox, when changed over to Q box got to hear Atmos sound and big difference. Great soundbar for the price and great service/advice as usual from Richer Sounds Glasgow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dr EM from sound excellent, but setup is not easy The 1st time I set this up, it was not easy at all, the subwoofer is not connected to the sound bar and difficult to fix it. The sound is excellent. The number of speakers included and the quality of the hardware you get from this is very different from a normal "smart" speaker. I have also compared it to the Apple, Google, bose and amazon speakers in the same price range. This one in terms of the sound is simply the best. Without going into the technical details, the difference mainly being you are immersed in the sound stage rather than listening from a distance away. The mid and bass range are excellent. Watching a movie is very enjoyable and you got the cinema feel from it. Build quality is excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MikeWh from Great Sounding System with Compact Sub Aesthetically the system looks great it fits perfectly under our 55in TV. The sub is smaller than our previous one and nestles nicely next to the TV stand. The materials on both feel premium and look nice. Set up with the hdmi input and passthrough was easy and the quick start guide was easy to follow. The Dolby surround and Atmos worked great and sounded really good. The only issue I have come up against it that when using the HDMI through put the bar can turn itself off from time to time when the TV is paused. I don't know if this is down to the bar going into standby mode which it does after 20min but this was less time or if it was our TV which is 8 years old or SKYQ box that was feeding it. I will trouble shoot and update my review. Overall the system looks great and sounds great also well worth the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tsasha from Cinema Sound in you loving room.! Setting up was easy. In the box, all the necessary cables and connectors are there as well as brackets to wall mount the main bar if you wish. I connected the soundbar with HDMI-ARC to the port on my TV. The soundbar and sub come on automatically when the TV is on, and the TV remote handles volume/ power off too. I've had tried to connect the Soundbar via Bluetooth the TV and it works very well a which means only one cable. Unfortunately, when you turn the bar of and on again it defaults to HDMI. So you need to reconnect it via the small remote. The remote is small and you need it to do everything else except volume up/down and power off if you've connected via HDMI-ARC. I can't say about the other connects as I've not used them. Love the fact the subwoofer is wireless you can put pretty much anyway. Although is not obvious how to connect it when you get it out the box or how to reconnect. There were no instructions on this. You can totally notice the sound difference in Movie mode and the other 2 modes. there are 3 different sound profiles in total Movie, Music and Night and also the 3 enhance dialog mode to hear voice over the base or at night when the kids are asleep in the room above.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tom999 from Excellent immersive sound for the price Bought this soundbar to go in the spare room but setup in the living room to compare to our Bose Soundtouch 300 with rears and sub setup. Although the Bose is quite old now I still think it performs really well, can go very loud with good bass and never distorts. Mostly using the soundbar for films I found it very impressive for what I consider a pretty reasonable price. Very clear sound with clarity that can be adjusted if required but I never seen the need. The bass is good and strong although I did find it not as good as the Bose for the deepest room shaking scenes, although if had not heard them side by side probably wouldn’t even notice. Dolby Atmos feature worked OK and there was some sense of the sound coming from above. Overall immersive sound coming from the front area of the room was really good but the lack of rear speakers definitely came through with some scenes. Music – excellent speaker for playing most music, found it particularly good with dance type and the more punchy bass. Bluetooth worked seamlessly the couple of times I’ve tried it so far. Connection to the TV through the HDMI arc works with no issues at all. Always started up when turning the TV on and sound coming out through the soundbar instantly. Setup of the device was incredibly simple plug and play. Overall an excellent product for the price point and in my opinion much better than similar household name electrical brands soundbars. First time I’ve purchased a Denon system and very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AlexJamie from Great Atmos Addition I purchased this along with a Sony 55" X90J to upgrade from a Yamaha YAS-107 bar. I liked the Yamaha but the Virtual DTS:X was found out on later release films and as I was getting an all new screen I figured I may as well upgrade the sound too. I'm glad I did. I considered a few other bars that were a little cheaper (there was a discount on this bar at the time) and looked at the Samsung one too. After listening to that and the Denon model below this the Atmos demo from YT that Will in Hanley RS played was a proper ear opener! We then linked my phone via BT and tried some tracks from TIDAL using the Master streaming setting and it was equally as good, providing punchy clear sound without being murdered by bass even on some bass heavy tracks chosen for this reason. The bar is long but slim and discreet, the upward firing speakers adding genuine height to the sound and projecting it around us, the sub speaker cloth covered. It says black but it's more of a charcoal colour but I personally prefer that as it makes it look less industrial. The remote is good enough, a HDMI in and another eARC out which makes hooking your satellite/Blu Ray/console easy enough and the sound settings give a good balance. The dialogue option is great too as it makes use of the centre speaker that even a mumblecore rapper might be able to be heard. Sadly. Overall for the size of the room I have this soundbar does everything I need and more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by miaoneill03 from Brilliant sound I’m so happy that we decided to try this product. It’s absolutely fab. The sound quality is amazing especially considering the price is so reasonable. The adjustable sound settings make it great to change between when listening to different things. The set up was very easy too. Overall I am very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Paula TL from Powerful bass We have purchased this product and are very happy with it. It has a beautiful design, simple and would suit most home decors. The bass is powerful and can be heard in other rooms in the house. Films are more enjoyable with this product and it is very easy to get it started. It has definitely enhanced our viewing enjoyment over our basic TV speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great product I bought the Denon to replace a Sonos Beam which although I have other Sonos products I was not happy with. The overall sound is an improvement on the beam, and the speech enhancement feature really works. Very easy to set up. Excellent advice and service from Richar Sounds as always, would not go anywhere else Thanks Andrew
