GRADO SR80e (Black)
On Ear Open Back Headphones
£39
.95
”These Grados remain an exceptional pair of headphones.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2020 award-winner.
Audiophile sound quality
Following on from a line of award-winning SR80s, the latest 'e' version is still every bit the music connoisseurs' choice. Still handmade in Brooklyn USA, the SR80e headphones look, feel and sound quite different from the opposition. With the 'e' model, both driver and housing have been redesigned to lower distortion. Polymer damping helps ensure distortion is quelled and detail is brought to the fore.
Exceptional transparency
Using a new 4-conductor cable, Grado has also sought to improve headphones' resolution, giving them the kind of transparency you'd expect from a pair of headphones costing twice as much. In short, if it's life-like realism with full-bodied vocals and impressive dynamics you're after, little, if anything at this price can better the SR80e.
Robust and comfortable
Using densely padded earpieces and a broad headband, the SR80es are more comfortable than they might at first appear. With swivel earpieces, they also fit snugly against your ears, as well as folding flat for ease of storage. Their construction is tough enough to take a daily commute while still offering long-term comfort.
Unique style
The unique retro style is quite unlike rivals' headphones. In the tradition of many of the best products, however, form follows function, so there's nothing superfluous in the Grado's design.
For headphones that put sound quality above all else, the Grado SR80es continue to lead the pack.

Outclasses headphones at 5 times the price
Warm, rich and highly detailed sound. Bass is tight, treble is playful and extremly satisfying. The SR80e's deliver colourful, fun and effortless sound without ever crossing into the common pitfalls of daft, flabby bass or being overly fatiguing or bright. This review would be as glowing if they were £200. Grado have stuck to the essentials; unremarkable build, materials and packaging (though it has to be said they have an attractive, timeless design - to my eyes) all in the name of somehow selling these headphones for less than £100. Highly recommend.

Great stuff
Got these for home use only as open backed.
The sound quality is fantastic, they are easily the best headphones I have and very comfortable too. Only small problem is that each side headphone can turn through 360 degrees and can start to knot the wire so be a bit careful with that.

Nice Cans
I bought these heaphones recently as I wanted to do some music listening later on at night whilst not disturbing others and I didn't want to spend a fortune in case my late night listening didn't go to plan. Well, I have to say these are perfect. I use them with a Creek headphone amp and they sound absolutely amazing. I would describe the sound overrall as very natural, there is a nicely extended base, lots of detail in recordings I hadn't heard before, sweet treble and mids, everything just sounds so musical. I have heard a £ 3,500 pair of Focal Labs and whilst these don't reach the same heights, on a cost basis these are absolutely stunning phones for the money...and I got them on a nice Richer Sounds price match deal. They do leak a bit of sound but that is to be expected with open back headphone design but the comfort and sound quality more than make up for this in my view. if you want a superb quality headphone with natural unforced music without spending silly money , I highly recommend these Grados. And when shopping around, the Richer Sounds price deal was the best I could find...once again. !

High quality sound, exceptional value
Bought these for listening at home - their open design makes them unsuitable for anything else unless you don't mind hearing the world around you.The sound is wonderfully bright and detailed - a noticeable improvement on my V-Moda M80s, which I've always enjoyed. They do lack bass at the low end, although I've found it very easy to boost that with my headphone amp (Fiio Q1 MkII). Great value for money for something which works so well.

Good sound
Really good sound! Build quality reflected in cost. Bought this as a bundle with the Dragonfly DAC.

Excellent sound, great value for money.
These are the first quality headphones I've purchased and I'm not disappointed. Some reviews say they are not robust enough, but for home use I can't see any problems with the build quality. Very clear sounding while not bass heavy, the bass does come through quite impressively when the track demands.
