100% magnesium drivers

Revised open back design
With a new open back design, the Clear Mg’s let the sound truly ‘breathe’. Although this lets sound leak outside it also allows the drivers to move with the least resistance possible – less resistance leads to finer detail, especially at lower volume levels. Being able to spread the sound further also gives these headphones a near holographic soundstage. Close your eyes and you could be there.
Lightweight and comfortable
The solid aluminium yoke provides a strong but lightweight support for the speakers. Combined with the leather and microfibre covered headband and rotating earpiece adjustment, you get the perfect fit for long-term listening pleasure.

Crafted from microfibre fabric, the earpads combine the perfect function of luxurious feel against your head with non-sweat design. Supplied with balanced and non-balanced cable options
For the highest quality, balanced connection, use the 3m XLR4 balanced cable. With a compatible headphone amp, the balanced connection gives you the lowest levels of distortion and most detail. If you’re on the move, simply switch to the 1.2m lead with portable-friendly 3.5mm plug. A 6.35mm adaptor is also supplied with this cable, making it ideal for desktop use with a non-balanced 6.35mm headphone output.

Great detail
The Cardiff store arranged for a couple of headphones for me to try out. I came from Sennheiser HD 650 and I was looking for an improvement with the Focal Clear MG and Sennheiser HD 800. I liked both but there was something about the fit that put me off the HD 800. The Focal Clear MG presented more detail in the music and individual instruments stood out compared with my current headphones. The store even allowed me to try my order at home for a couple of weeks but I didn’t have to return the set because I am very happy with them.

Next level sound
I bought these to demo against my Grado 325e which to me were unbeatable. I was also buying a Naim Atom HE so I needed a headphone that matched the quality. Initially I thought the Grado’s held their own in with prestigious company and they definitely sounded better powered with some decent electronics driving them but the Focals are another level in terms of build and sound quality. They need to be listened to to be believed.

Focal MG
I wanted headphone I could listen to for long periods of time that was not too harsh, warm and fun to listen to, nothing too analytical. These fit the bill very well.
I had a list of headphones I had in mind. I spent time in the shop listening too them and was left in no doubt the Focal MG were the ones for me. I also have to admit I now have five pairs of headphone B&W, Sennheiser's and Beyerdynamic and perhaps talking therapy/counselling may be the way forward.
Most enjoyable and money well spent.

Awesome set of headphones
These headphones are sublime to the ears. I originally went into the Southampton store to try another more expensive headphones but I wasn’t that impressed with them, so I was feeling a bit down after travelling all that way. That was until I saw the Focal Clear MG on the shelf. They were not on my list to try but I thought what the hell, seeing as I’m here. Wow! I’m so glad I did & ordered a pair there & then. They sound great straight off the bat and they haven’t even been bedded in yet. Next on my shopping list is the Mojo 2 to accompany my new Focal’s.

Excellent build and sound
I have found that the clear mg are very easy to drive and have a great sound with an exceptional bass and midrange but a little lacking in high end, that being said they sound great .

Discomfort Muddled midrange Distorted above 10khz
Bought this month as an update to my 22 year old Grado RS1 headphones and I’m extremely disappointed. I’m searching my Qobuz albums for tracks I can stream through a Naim Uniti Atom HE without the high registers distorting. I have also used these phones with my main Auralic G2.1 system and they still distort badly. When I revert to the Grados the sound is pristine.
They are also hot and heavy to wear.

Endgame headphones near enough
I was lucky enough to purchase a set of Clear MG's recently and am still amazed at just how good they are, Sure they are expensive but if you are used to listening to a good hifi then your ears will thank you for these,.They can be used without an amp and still sound pretty good but plugged into a really good headphone amp they are simply astonishing. Using focals Arche amp with them and the pairing is nothing short of breathtaking bringing out details you've probably never heard before. I do however often simply plug them into my iPad in bed at night and the sound is still good enough to listen to. I have owned high end hifi for years and the only time I've heard better headphones was at a show demonstrating the Orpheous headphones at a wallet breaking 30k. Are Focals own Utopia headphones better well yes but then they are also over 4k and these are about 90% there. You may even be able to keep your kidneys and still own them, If you are in the market for a really good headphone these should definitely be on your list to audition.
