Launched in 2011, the original KEF LS50 was a smash-hit from day one. The new KEF LS50 Meta takes all the award-winning ingredients of the original and introduces new technology for sensational sound quality.

Developed in conjunction with Acoustic Metamaterials Group, the LS50 Meta makes use of an exciting new technology called MAT (Metamaterial Absorption Technology). The revolutionary material absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, for lower distortion and a much purer, more natural sound.
Legendary Uni-Q drive units deliver studio quality sound
KEF’s history includes making some of the most precise-sounding monitor speakers. Used in recording studios around the world, KEF-branded speakers and other brands using KEF drive units are behind so many classic mixes. Now in its 12th generation, the Uni-Q driver array places the revised tweeter within the middle of the woofer, creating a more cohesive sound. The magnesium/ aluminium woofer is light and rigid – making it fast to respond and entirely faithful to the music playing.
Foot-tappingly musical
Although some monitor speakers can sound clinical to listen to, this is not the case with the KEF LS50 Meta. The super-rigid cabinet features a curved compound front baffle. Combined with the tweeter’s ‘tangerine’ wave-guide, this helps spread the sound far out into your room – making listening to these speakers an enveloping experience, wherever you’re sitting in the room.
Punchy, lifelike bass
For such small speakers, the LS50 Metas hit hard. Thanks to Z-Flex surrounds, the woofers move across an extended range, giving deep, powerful bass. More important than just being ‘deep’, the bass is extremely well controlled and lifelike. The computer-aided design of the rear port promotes flow and reduces turbulence – meaning the bass sounds fast and accurate.

Great service. Awesome gear
Bought a package of a Sonos amp and the KEF ls50 metas and they are awesome. Everything is linked and my tv phone and record player all play through it and I couldn’t be happier with the sound quality. Worth the money all day!

New system after 35 years!!
Dubious about replacing my Rega Planar 3 which is vintage and my castle speakers but so happy with the new kit. Set it up two days ago and the turntable gives a great sound.

Set them up right and they're world class
These Metas are the most extraordinary speakers i've owned in 35 years of obsessive hifi buying. You will need patience to get the best from them, but when you hit the sweet spot... wow...
Initially, I have to say I was completely underwhelmed... I couldn't understand why, when the professional reviews are universally ecstatic. So I read a few user reviews, and found some tips that are invaluable.
First off, they took a LONG time to run in - I reckon 150-200 hours - and the difference was extraordinary (i've never had a pair of speakers change that much, and I don't normally believe in running in anyway...). I also had to play around with positioning quite a lot, although note they come with various foam bungs for the rear ports which really do allow you to tune the sound - so you will find a place that doesn't compromise your living space. And you MUST use an amp with decent power (my old Nad 7240PE didn't cut it, whereas my Rega Aethos sounds incredible). But once they'd run in and i'd got the setup right... BAM... Suddenly the sound stage fell into place, treble opened up, and now they are captivating.
Eg on CD, Michael Jackson "the way you make me feel" slams exultantly, exciting and tight, begging you to turn it up. Radiohead's "Subterranean Homesick Alien" on vinyl is sweeter than I have ever heard it, and that includes bass that's surprisingly extended for the size of cabinet, and tighter than you'll ever hear with a floor stander.
I've barely scraped the surface yet on what they can do, but a few weeks in, it's all looking good. If you bear with them and spend a little time on setting up, you'd find it hard to do better with speakers of double the price.

Fantastic speakers
I bought these speakers a few weeks back after a short home demo , paired to my Naim Unity Atom ,and I love them , such clear .precise sound , wide soundstage , unfussy with placement , a brilliant buy , and great service from Richer Sounds
