Mini-LED for the most natural picture
The Hisense 55U8HQTUK uses the latest Mini-LED backlighting technology to produce incredible detail and colour accuracy. Rather than using dozens of LED units, this Hisense 55 inch TV combines thousands of LEDs, divided into hybrid dimming zones. This vastly improved lighting control enhances the contrast, detail and colour definition, giving you the most lifelike picture possible.
Picture quality maximised by ULED
Combined with the Mini-LED backlighting, Hisense uses its top-draw ULED picture tech. ULED encompasses a range of high-end picture technologies to deliver truly stunning images. Quantum Dot Colour gets closer to the original than ever, with over a billion true-to-life colours. 100Hz/120Hz panel refresh makes for the smoothest motion – while keeping the detail crystal-clear. Full Array Local Dimming enhances this Hisense 55 inch TV to deliver outstanding contrast.
Dolby Vision IQ – ultimate detail
Dolby Vision IQ takes Dolby Vision to the next level, making it the ultimate HDR-type picture processor. Dolby Vision IQ version uses data within the signal and light sensors inside the TV to adjust the picture quality for the best contrast. This improves the picture’s brightness, without ‘washing out’ the depth. You get a consistent picture quality, however light or dark your room is. Whether you’re watching a brightly lit sports event or moody movie, Dolby Vision IQ adjusts to suit.
Multi-format HDR support for a stunning picture from all sources
As well as Dolby Vision and Vision IQ, this Hisense 55” TV also offers multi-format HDR – including HDR10+. HDR10+ offers scene-by-scene HDR mastering for the truest, most accurate HDR picture technology. Each scene is optimised, meaning the maximum amount of detail is shown – even in the brightest or darkest moments.
Dolby Atmos compatible sound
Dolby Atmos offers a big step forward in immersive sound. With a more immersive sound, you become enveloped in the action. Just pair with Dolby Atmos compatible media and prepare for room-filling sound. Even better, the Hisense 55U8HQTUK has a multi-channel speaker system to do it justice.
Game Mode Pro for a winning response
Game Mode Pro optimises the 100Hz/120Hz screen’s natural ability for smooth, fast-paced action and adventure. Game Mode reduces input lag to less than 20ms, ensuring quicker reaction times and letting you stay ahead of the opposition. With two of the HDMI sockets meeting HDMI 2.1 standard, you also get compatibility with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and AMD FreeSync – all of which give you the gaming edge.
Smart TV made easy, with VIDAA U 6.0
The latest version of Hisense’s VIDAA OS makes Smart TV better than ever. The intuitive launcher offers a custom display of the apps you use most. Content discovery previews recommendations of the latest shows and movies from the selected app. There’s also one-touch, direct access to the most popular apps - Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Rakuten TV and Freeview Play – all at the touch of a button.
Voice control for Google and Alexa
For effortless voice control, this Hisense ULED TV is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Search for TV content or use any Alexa or Google Assistant skills, simply by voice command.
Freeview Play for catch-up TV
Freeview Play makes catch-up TV easy. Find programmes from BBC iPlayer, the ITV Hub, All4 and Demand 5 sitting alongside 70 TV Channels and up to 15 HD channels. Simply scroll back in your TV guide to watch shows you missed from the last 7 days. Just make sure your TV is connected to the internet and you're good to go.
Fitted with four HDMI sockets, the 55U8HQTUK has all you need for connecting sources. Two of the sockets are compliant with HDMI 2.1, making them the perfect match for the latest games consoles and eARC soundbars. The other two HDMI sockets are HDMI 2.0 – ideal for your set-top TV box and Blu-ray player. Other connections include twin USB sockets that are perfect for connecting media devices and playing back music, photos and video.
The difference is all in the detail, with the Hisense 55U8HQTUK.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Shah786 from Not bad Bought this TV looking at reviews, some were pretty good and some bad. However, once I bought it I realised a lot of differences, and after some more research I realised all the reviews are non UK and that the reviews (which were probably mostly American) have different specifications to the one we get in the UK even though they have the same name (I have the U8H). They get Google TV OS and more local dimming zones for just 2 examples. When you look at the youtube reviews you can tell the UK version has more blooming. Other than that, for the price you can't really complain about much else and picture quality has been pretty good for my use given my budget. But would I recommend it to others I know? If they had a low budget they jad to stick to like me then maybe, if they could up that budget a little more I would say no and tell them to look at something else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Alex G from Very good all-rouder that shines with HDR content A very good 4K HDTV overall with just a few minor minuses. *Must mention this has a different panel technology than the US model (IPS APS Vs VA panel). As such I'm reviewing the UK model only. Timber fair from my experience it is not a deal breaker but does mean having less dimming zones and lower overall contrast. Wish Hisense would indeed offer the same technology for all customers regions. Summary: In short It's absolutely gorgeous in bright environments and when displaying bright contact, especially in HDR but can struggle a bit with very dark and challenging scenes. As someone said it's an absolute beast in bright environments when displaying bright full screen content. Detailed description: Caveat: I use a streaming box and external sound system so my review of the sound and built in OS is based on a more limited experience. Very good build quality and looks very premium, but the remote is not as good (it's useable but the most premium looking and a bit bulky). Image quality is very good in most conditions and it's outright excellent at displaying HDR10/10+ and bright images. Struggles a bit with some Dolby Vision content thought and when the media quality is of poor quality (upscaling works well overall but it definitely prefers high quality content as a TV). Screen brightness and colour reproduction are quite good and gets so bright it feel you need sunglasses sometimes. Scenes with fire displayed are simply stunning on this TV. Although not used as much the internal audio set up is surprisingly good with clear and crisp vocals and nice thump from the woofer. It's also very loud. OS is also ok with most apps present and generally a slick interface but again minus for Hisense, this is a Vida OS and not Google OS as in the US. Minus is you can't get Now TV in the UK on the built it OS. To be said it does seem to get very good support with updates every few months. Overall the panel quality is good but without local dimming turned on it exhibits poor screen uniformity. As with all LED bright TVs it can suffer from DSE (dirty screen effect) and blooming but it's not too distracting. Great for gaming with excellent response time and image quality but another minus is you can't use local dimming with Game Mode on. Overall would recommend this TV as it's good value for money and a very good all rounder choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by rogercr from OK BUT I've been using the TV for around 3 weeks and am generally pleased with it. The sound is exceptional for a TV. The picture is ok but there are two issues I would like to resolve. Your support department has not responded fully to my queries, I wish to move the main HD channels (101 - 105) to either replace 1 - 5 or to put the HD channels just in front to make things easier for my wife whom has dementia. The second issue is that the colour green is frequently unnaturally too strong and bright and I need to know how I can correct this without upsetting the general good performance.
