Fantastic Atmos Sound with Geats Specs
I recently got a 65 inch Panasonic OLED for a home theatre room but the built in sound was very poor.
I immediately started looking for a soundbar that supported Dolby Atmos with Earc (enhanced audio return channel) which is a feature of HDMI 2.1 to play uncompressed Dolby Atmos that my TV supports. I had looked at the cheaper LG SN7Y available at another retailer and the SP8Y but some of the reviews were mixed for both. I happened to come across the SN9YGA at another retailer and with Richer Sounds being my preferred retailer for AV equipment based in the consistently excellent service I have received over the last 10 years or so, I contacted them. The helpful advisor Stephen agreed to a price beat which was about half the current price of £799.
It was also delivered quickly within 3 days from BJS which were great and I have always been pleased with the service they provide and care they take with expensive TV's I have ordered.
The soundbar is firstly very well packaged and it was avery pleasant unboxing experience.
The build quality is reassuringly very good and the soundbar weighs weight a bit compared to others I have had in the past. The subwoofer is also quite solid and heavy but the subwoofer is covered with speaker cloth on 3 sides so not the most robust.
Once you download the Google home app and the LG Soundbar app the set up is easy and connected to my WIFI no problem. The LG soundbar app let's you customise each channel including the subwoofer which needed increasing a couple of notches for my preference. The built in Google assistant works very well too. Just say hey Google while the soundbar is in standby and it works the same as the small Google devices I have around the house. You also get a visible and clear display which dims back down quickly so doesn't ditract from the experience.
The sound quality is fantastic and by far the best soundbar I have owned. For movies in Atmos in particular the upfiring and side firing drivers create a great wide soundstage. For music it still sounds very good but not as impressive as when it is fed an atmos track or even a 5.1 film. I also added the SPK8 rear speakers which are a must for a full surround sound experience and makes a huge difference. It also give you a 7.1.2 set up for about £130 extra which is excellent value.
So far after owning the soundbar for a few weeks I am very pleasantly surprised by how good the sound quality is, especially for the price I paid. Its as close to a cinema experience at home as I have ever experienced.
I tested a lot of soundbars before buying this and I preferred it the Sonos ARC, plus that costs an extra £600 for the sub and extra for the rear speakers. The Samsung Q800 soundbar with rears is probably the closest but that costs more, albeit the rear speakers on the Samsung have upfiring speakers.

Great soundbar
Easy to setup using a HDMI ARC cable, subwoofer connects wirelessly to soundboard so be placed out of sight.

Didn't last 12 months!!
I bought a SN9YG to go under my 65 CX tv and all was ok. Set up a bit of a pain but just follow the app to guide you through . I put some music on a few week's ago and noticed there wasn't any base so I looked at the sub. There was no power in the sub and whatever I did I could not get any life in it. Luckily my Sound bar was still under warranty and is now back with LG being repaired. The sub could of blown months ago for all I know. I was very happy with the girl I spoke to at LG who set up my repair. It's not a bad sound bar though tbh and does a good job in my 5m x 4m room. I would of given 5 stars if I had no issues.

PLEASE READ & CONSIDER BUYING A DIFFERENT PRODUCT!
I spent more than £800 on this product 16 months ago and then I spent another £160 to buy the wireless satellite speakers! To start off with the good bits, I was very impressed with the sound quality, features and bass from the subwoofer. It was more than enough for my living room! All was going well for 14 months and suddenly the subwoofer has developed a fault and refuses to pair with the main soundbar unit! I have tried all the troubleshooting advice available online but have had no luck! Since it is out of warranty, LG won't do anything about it! I contacted their support team to repair it at a cost and they promised that someone will call back with a quote. 2 WEEKS and I am still waiting for a callback! The only saving grace is that the vendor from whom I bought the soundbar has offered to partially issue a refund as long as I can provide a diagnostics report. Regardless, I wouldn't expect such an expensive item to break down 14 months after purchasing it! To put things into perspective, I purchased a £35 Russell Hobbs microwave 6 years ago and it still works!

Good sound but awful user experience
I'm one of those sad people who actually reads the instructions. To say that the set up was complicated is an understatement. First install Google Home on the phone, locate the Sound Bar then get directed to continue setup via an LG app that doesn't exist! After that there was no sound at all, but fortunately unplugging the HDMI lead and then plugging it in again connected it to the LG TV and at last there was sound. You can adjust the tone via the remote and a small display on the Sound Bar but the options are limited and whilst the sound is good, it's not great. This was purchased as a part of a package with the TV and as such just about represents reasonable value for money, but if I'd paid full price I would be very unhappy! Why can't you adjust the sound options via the TV display? Why was I directed to download a non-existent app to complete the setup? Why is there no reference on LGs website to a current app? Maybe there is, but I'm tech savvy and this has me beaten. Fortunately the default setting is good enough so I don't feel the need to return the product, though it's not a match for my 14 year old Panasonic surround sound still doing sterling service connected to a TV in another room. One small plus - I can play my Spotify music from my phone and the sound is good, though not vastly better than my £200 Sonos One.

Powerful sound
I just purchased this sound bar and so far I am pretty pleased. However the sound bar doesn't connect with tv through HDMI cable. I tried several times following the instructions but it didn't worked. I am not very sure if that a sound bar issue or a tv. I own also a LG smart tv and when l try to change sound settings doesn't allow me. Only with the Bluetooth the connection is available for my tv. Anyway overall l am very happy with the product. Hopefully l will be able to sort out the problem l currently have with connection.
