If you like the idea of top quality cinema sound but are put off by the bulk of typical AV receivers, then the Marantz NR1510 is perfect for you. Standing just 104mm tall, it's around half the height (or less) of many of its rivals. This not only makes it easier on the eye but also allows it to be slotted in where many other AV receivers simply won't fit.
100% sound quality
Slim in size but most definitely 'full fat' in terms of sound, the NR1510 doesn't compromise on sound. The Marantz NR1510 is equipped with an advanced 32-bit DSP processing system that supports a wide range of sound formats, including Hi-Res Audio, right up to DSD 5.6. Discrete, high current power output devices provide a sound that's punchy, low in distortion and perfectly balanced around all your speakers. The Pure Direct feature aims to give you the cleanest sound quality by bypassing non-essential circuits. Thanks to MDAX2 you can even restore the quality of compressed MP3 audio – giving greater ‘life’ and ‘depth’ of sound.
Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
Controlling a sophisticated AV receiver like this can be baffling for some members of the family, which is why Marantz have made it compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform basic functions. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.
HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the NR1510 is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors.
Control it all with the HEOS app
Once you've set up your HEOS speaker system, you can stream music effortlessly via the dedicated HEOS app. Available for Apple iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle, the app not only lets you stream your stored music but also Internet radio services and popular streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Napster and Deezer.
Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG
Ideal for pairing with your quality video sources, the NR1510 is compatible with an extensive range of formats. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby, HLG and HDCP 2.2, which means you can play UHD Blu-ray discs and stream UltraHD video in the highest quality. The HDMI sockets allow 4K pass-through, for hassle free switching and viewing without the receiver needing to be on.
Connect more – including a turntable
As well as the six HDMI inputs, the NR1510 has a wide range of connectivity. Both optical and coaxial digital inputs are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Three analogue inputs are perfect for Hi-Fi components, with the dedicated MM phono input ideal for plugging in a turntable.
Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, DLNA and built-in wi-fi for the complete networking experience
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity it's easy to connect up all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. The NR1510 also comes with wi-fi, Internet radio and DLNA. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via vTuner as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect Premium Spotify account required). DLNA compatibility lets you stream from other sources such as your laptop or NAS drive.
Packed with features, not bulk, the Marantz NR1510 delivers without dominating your room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mudlogger from A great replacement for my old soundbar. Years ago, I replaced my stereo speakers with a soundbar, to run my TV and HiFi through. When this went wrong I went to replace it and was advised about alternative replacement ideas - this unit won! (thanks Tim, in Exeter). I am still getting to grips with it and there are compatibility issues with older tech (my mobile won't bluetooth to it), but the quality of sound is superb. Married with my old B&W speakers and with a new central speaker, it gives a sound so much better than my old (quite expensive) Polk soundbar. The bluetooth isn't a problem as I can achieve the same thing through WiFi using the HEOS app. The ability to stream music and to listen to digital radio through the one unit is a massive jump forward for me (particularly as I live in a digital radio 'coldspot' and can now pick up many more stations). Be advised - if you are new to this kind of setup, it can take a little while to download/install and get used to using everything. Overall I am very happy that I made the jump to this 'newer' tech and think that it will lead to me buying further speakers for other parts of the house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by axb8152 from Updated Previous Model I've been buying Marantz for over 30 years, and the brand had never disappointed. This latest slim surround processor has Dolby Atmos, and is qell-spec'd to deal with HD Sound. TgecApp us a little clunky, and it didn't airways behave when being controlled by my TV Remote and the HDMI input, but they're just details really and do not distract from this being an excellent product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mick384 from Good sound. Nightmare menu Not sure how to rate as the sound would achieve probably 5*s but the whole thing is let down by the hugely complicated operating menu. So many functions seems to be randomly thrown into menu of choices and some poor soul has had to assemble them into some kind of order. TV still does not function properly with amp and the sound settings seems to randomly change from switch off to switch on. Hugely frustrating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gavavuser from Excellent service from Richer Sounds Guarantee This unit was just received as a replacement for another manufacturer's unit which had failed after more than five years. The old unit was placed without fuss under the Richer Sounds excellent 6-year guarantee. This review DOES NOT cover the new unit which I have only just commissioned.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GT151 from Great sound, small size, user interface mediocre The good: audio quality is great, been enjoying it very much. The unit is very small for an AV receiver, but still with lots of I/O options. Definite upgrade from my older Onkyo device and I'm generally very happy with it. The decent: the on-screen user interface could be from 1980s (poor even comparison to my old Onkyo from 11+ years ago) but despite looking crummy the setup for WiFi, airplay, spotify and microphone calibration was all very smooth and painless. The front display has some poor design choices - volume level is displayed in tiny 7-segments in the corner that are hard to read from a distance and the main display is taken up by audio type (dolby digital, pro logic, DTS etc) and I can't find any options to customise it. It's limited to 5.1 and it's only 4k (not 8k) compatible so low on future-proofing, but neither of those limitations bother me much. Airplay is convenient but note that it's audio only, so no way to mirror screen using the AVR. The poor: At one point the unit stopped receiving audio via ARC from my Samsung TV (only ARC compatible, not eARC) and I had to power cycle both devices at the plug to make them reconnect successfully again. Suspect this may be an HDMI-CEC compatibility issue between devices or potentially an issue caused by the "Eco mode" on the Marantz which I've since disabled. As a result I'm keeping an eye on it and have a TOSLink optical cable ready in case it turns out to be a recurring issue, but that loses the lipsync functionality and I'd rather not resort to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by John Houghton from Superb piece of kit, with so many features Bought this to replace my old Panasonic surround sound system. Was not disappointed with my purchase, so many features, theatre system, hi fi system,USB port,DAB radio and all controlled via HEOS on my iPad. As an older Gent, it was quite daunting when I first got it, but now I’m familiar with it, I would not part with it . Very impressed

Rated 5 out of 5 by DeejayW from Great 5.1 compact AV Receiver Purchased this just over a week ago after my 13 yr old Pioneer packed up. Great sound after some tweaks of the settings. Have Phono, Blu-ray and Sky Q hooked up. Great sound from a compact receiver.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Spitroast from Good but not great Had this amp for about a year now. I purchased because I needed a slim one to fit where I wanted it while still allowing a good airflow around it. It's being used as a general all purpose lounge amp. It's fit for purpose in that it doesn't sound bad by any means played through my Mordaunt Shorts. However, the sound is nowhere near as deep as my older Arcam 7 nor the Yamaha rx that it replaced (the Yamaha motherboard died so not going back to them). The volume is not perfect. I generally have it at 60% volume for movies, I've never had any amp where I'm running it that high all the time. There have been occasions where I'd like it a little more power for weekend music. The bass is a bit soft, you have to crank it up on the amp and sub and at those levels it's just not sounding that punchy with music but it's ok for films, again if you crank it. The GUI is horrific. It's like a dot-matrix screen that really needs bringing to the 21st century. Putting in your wifi network password is something you never wants to have to do twice on this thing, being a list of upper and lower case letters and symbols in a list view ..why not a qwerty keyboard layout?. Similarly the app is pretty poor. It continuously loses the amp so you have to go through re-selecting it before you can use it. Sometimes it doesn't find it either which is really frustrating. Take note if you have a 10bit TV. Marantz state it's HDR10 compatible. It is, however you do have to set that up in the amp settings (set 4k from standard to enhanced). The GUI will tell you you don't have a 10bit TV even when you do, but select 'enhanced' regardless and it will then broadcast your 10bit source (sky Q in my case). If this is not set in the amp you will only get 8bit, Sky will simply not deliver you a picture when selecting 10bit in the Sky settings - this left me scratching my head for a while so worth noting. Otherwise however a perfectly suitable amp. Has been reliable, just the app that's not so. I would buy a Marantz again but only a newer, updated model and slightly more powerful. Just to add, great service from RS as always. Will be back soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Royboy57 from Replacement for onkyo. My original Onkyo AV receiver was sadly repairable under my excellent Richer sounds 6 year guarantee. The marantz NR 1510 was suggested as the best replacement as I was limited with space for the unit. Best decision ever. It's really is a fantastic bit of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stevo57 from Fabulous little receiver! I needed to replace my old Marantz 1402, which I was pleased with, as I had upgraded to a 4K Oled along with Sky Q. I was expecting the 1510 to be better, but was surprised by how much. The basic character of the sound is similar, but clearer and much more dynamic. Very impressed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by aneataprinter from Not off the starting blocks yet! I can’t really review this model at the moment. After taking it out of the box and hooking it all up. I switched it on and it went in to circuit protection mode. You think it was user fault but it made a quick set up and then it happened but having said all that I will have it repaired or replaced as I do not think there is a suitable quality alternative out there for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GrowlingDog from Easy to set up and use, great sound quality I've always liked decent quality sound, however it took a backseat while bringing up the family. I had a cheap LG All in one Home Cinema system which recently went bang so decided it was time to get something a bit better. I wanted something that I could plug all the AV inputs into the back and just have one HDMI going to the TV, with a passthrough to make it easy for my Wife to watch Sky. I also wated the ability to play internet radio and Spotify as I am hoping to do away with the 2,000 + CD collection to free up some space. The Amp was very easy to set up and the setup of the speakers was easy using the microphone. Initially I just used my existing LG speakers but within a week decided I should put some decent speakers with this so have now paired it with a set of Cambridge Audio speakers. It is absolutely brilliant, and my Wife loves the fact she can ask Alexa to put the radio on as she struggles to see the remote control.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Groogle from Great budget receiver Easy to set up, simple online menu and sounds pretty good. Have found I’ve needed to dial the bass back and up the centre volume - unusual as most self calibrating systems I’ve found a bit dry. paired with kef “eggs”, 50wpc seems plenty for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A great upgrade I needed to upgrade my existing receiver to enable 4K programming from my Sky Q could reach my 4K TV. After speaking to the tech guys at Richer Sounds I purchased the Marantz NR1510. I found it easy to install and connect to my Q and a BlueRay player. Great sound and great separation makes for clearer 5.1 than my previous Yamaha.

Rated 4 out of 5 by snaphappybob from Good for the size The simplicity of operation is a boon given how complicated former AV amps I have owned proved to be to set up. The amp isn't in the same league as some of its contemporaries but none of them will fit as space is at a premium. It is great that an amp at this price point has pre outs allowing me to use my stereo system to drive the front speakers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bob08 from Simple set up, good features, video & audio I bought the Marantz NR1510 to replace a Denon amp that I had purchased in 2003 but which finally gave up. I have had to invest in a couple of HDMI cables but that has simplified and reduced the amount of wiring. The Marantz to act as a hub for my home theatre aswell as standard TV. and so far has been excellent. I have yet to use it for streaming so I cannot comment on that aspect, consequently I have only rated the product as 4 star - if streaming works well, then the fifth star would be warranted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fred12222 from A neat solution for a sizeable piece of kit. The set up process was a bit frustrating as the various inputs didn't seem to want to connect up, but after I abandoned it, I gradually discovered that everything, including wifi, were available to use. I have a wonderful analogue Cyrus amp but the Marantz is giving a clear, round sound through some 4ohm speakers which is actually much better than the Cyrus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stevie118 from Very easy set up and great sound This replaced my old Onkyo tx nr646. Tech has come on a long way since then. Once everything was plugged in, the 1510 recognised sky, xbox and ps4 straightaway. The whole process took 20 minutes including calibrating the speakers. Excellent sound and plenty of ways to stram music as well
