Meze Audio 99 Classics (Walnut/Silver)
Over Ear Closed Back Mic Headphones
One per customer / household.
Simply stunning design
Instead of using plastic, the 99 Classics feature solid walnut ear-cups. These hand-finished ear-cups not only look luxurious but are also hardwearing and improve the sound quality. Matched to a steel headband with gold accents the style is premium luxury all the way.
Sound quality that’s anything but wooden
With a string of sensational reviews, the 99 Classics are amongst the best-sounding headphones in their class. The walnut ear-cups promote a natural, neutral sound that’s perfectly balanced. With generous 40mm drivers the sound drops right down to 15Hz – giving these headphones deep, powerful bass.
Over ear comfort
Wrapping around your ear, the 99 Classics are not only comfortable but isolate you from the outside world – letting you hear even more detail. The memory foam ear pads supply just the right amount of pressure and are finished with PU leather for a luxury feel. The headband is self-adjusting and broad enough for a comfortable fit.
Supplied with a full range of accessories
Not content with award-winning sound and style, the 99 Classics come with a class-leading range of accessories. Two, Kevlar reinforced, cables are supplied – including one with a remote and mic for smartphone calls and control. A 6.35mm adaptor makes these headphones ideal for use with your home hi-fi, while the airline jack means you can listen in luxury when flying, too. A zipped case keeps them well protected when not in use.
First for sound, style and comfort – the Meze Audio 99 Classics take luxury headphones to a whole new level.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Paul Day from Super Meze Had these for about a week & simply adore them. They look sooo classy, beautiful & way above what they cost. The walnut combined with the silver is a great combo. The Mezes are built to a high standard even the cables & plugs are well made. Of course this would all count for nothing if they sounded pony but they sound bril. I was a little worried that they may have been biased towards bass upon reading some reviews. I have not found that to be. To me they sound very balanced. For their price I think they are unbeatable. Wonderful!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Poortambo from Great but flawed These 'phones look lovely and the presentation and overall package is the best I've ever had. I have two quibbles. One is that they come with a small jack with a large version convertor. the other is that the sound is very bass rich. I use an amp with no tone controls and the lower notes of a lot of instruments threaten to overwhelm the overall sound. I have to listen at slightly lower than normal volumes to ensure a more balanced sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ollie 48 from Lovely detailed sound, nice build and accessories I bought these at the beginning of April 2020 and am extremely happy with them. They are very nicely built with a classy, hard carry case and nice accessories. Well worth the money and can be upgraded with better cables etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lotusjoey1 from Best in class I tried a few different options in the price category and own a pair of AKG 845bt which have been excellent but the Meze Classic 99 are a different class all together. If you want Bluetooth and/or noise cancelling these aren't the cans for you. If audio quality is what you're looking for, you needn't look any further. Mine still have a bit of running in to do but they already sound superior to any others I tried at this price. The build quality is excellent and they're so light your barely realise you're wearing them

Rated 5 out of 5 by swc2112 from Light, comfortable and classy They deliver a full, transparent sound and for the price point punch well above their weight. They are light, with the wood adding a touch of class and the main lead is a good length so you are not 'tied' to the equipment. They also have a phone connection, but in reality are more home hifi than on the the go headphones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Audioholic from Best in class - wih a pad change I read all of the original 'professional' online reviews for these headphones that were so positive about them. However Meze changed the ear pads to larger ones and this changed the frequency response massively. I tried them with the new pads and found the bass response to be boomy, loose and unnecessarily intrusive with the other frequencies. However I found out that Meze have now released a smaller pad similar to the original that can be ordered from them. I took the plunge and ordered them from Romania (pads 20 euros, shipping 15 euro's!) and then ordered the 99 classics from Richer Sounds. What a difference the new pads make. They are still a very warm headphone with a moderate elevated bass but they just sound so fun and musical with all genres of music. The boom has gone and now no bleeding into the mids etc. I also have the B & W P7, Oppo PM3 and Bang & Olufsen H6 2nd gen. I much prefer the 99 classics to them. They now sound as those original reviews in 2016 implied. So why only 4 stars and not 5? Well you really shouldn't be having to pay and send off for the replacement pads. They should be packaged along side the bigger ones with the 99 classics so as to give you the choice. Anyway despite that I am so glad that I now have the classics and super service as always by Richer Sounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by STEVE47A from Big sound. Bought early December together with a Dragonfly Red. This combination gives an excellent result from my iPhone 8plus. By the way, you’ll need to get the Apple Camera adaptor (£39) as Dragonfly don’t yet make one for iOS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from A great listen! Build: Solid construction. Not very sure where to hold when plugging the wires into the headphones. Great looks, but might be too eye catching to use outdoors. Usage: Comfortable, huge cups. Amazing sound. Clear and dynamic with a fairly wide soundstage. Easily driven with iPhone 7 and Macbook without external amp. Accessories: Two wires, useful in case one stops working. Great case, looks durable. Easy to keep cable together with headphones in case with the provided cable case. Overall: Highly recommended!
