Now in their fifth generation, the Monitor Audio Gold speakers represent a reference standard in sound and style. As Gold-Series flagship, the 300 models stand tall. Ideal for larger rooms and superb as the front speakers in a high-end home cinema system, the Gold 300s make an ultimate choice. Despite their powerful, immersive sound, a distance of just 30 - 45cm from the rear wall is required for optimum sound. With many speakers this size, that figure can be more like a metre, making these highly convenient and room-friendly, as big speakers go.
MPD treble unit for stunning top-end resolution
Derived from the flagship Platinum range, MPD tweeters use a Micro Pleated Diaphragm to deliver stunning top-end detail. By pleating the tweeter’s shape, the surface area is increased eight-fold. Working by squeezing the pleats, like a super-fast accordion, gives the treble an incredible response – right up to 50,000Hz. I am exceptionally grateful to Greg and the team at the Bournemouth branch for their advice and input leading to them introducieme to the monitor audio range and eventually to my purchase of the gold 300's.
I was able to audition all the gold range in the process and I was very impressed with all. Arguably the gold 100s accompanied by a REL subwoofer gave the best clarity of sound the lineup but the package was impractical for my needs and didn't pass the aesthetic needs from my wife. The gold 200s were very capable but I felt fell short of bass and clarity of detail when compared to the gold 100/rel combo.
An opportunity to home audition the gold 300s was afforded by the team in Bournemouth resulting in the final purchase.
The gold 300s offer a significant clarity of bass upgrade from the 200s. They are expectionally capable speakers and I can't
see me looking for a speaker upgrade over my lifetime. My wife was sceptical that speakers should cost so much but their greatest compliment came a few months after the golds had become part of the fabric of the house when she commented that they were worth the money and that she was now convinced that quality matters.
I have no doubt that the golds will be part of the family for a significant time to come and as such I consider them an excellent investment and well worth the expense if you are in a position to consider them an option.

Beautifully made; exquisite sound
So many things in life come down to personal taste, and Hi-Fi equipment is no different. I spent a very long time researching speakers and many years ago now I was a semi-professional musician. Alex, the Store Manager at Nottingham, has been very good to me and I have been allowed to spend as long with various pieces of equipment as I liked to make sure of my choice. These speakers, as has been said elsewhere, are arguably the finest speakers that Monitor Audio has made. They compliment the rest of my system and work symbiotically with it. They're also a beautiful piece of furniture in their own right. You could spent many multiples of what these speakers cost and end up with nothing half as good. They're not cheap but they are superb. To my ears, with my system and for the music I enjoy, I couldn't imagine anything better.

amazing looking sounding speaker
Bought 2 week ago and speakers are terrific, if you can afford to push the boat out a bit then these are worth every penny. Simo at Glasgow branch looked after me very well, i shall be a returning customer for sure. Oh and 5 year guarantee to boot.

I never realised Richer Sounds sold Tigers.
The tigers here are a pair of Monitor Audio Gold 300 floorstanding speakers.
The pair, fifth generation of the gold series sporting a sumptuous piano gloss black, are beautiful, stylish behemoths, screaming class and luxury.Wow, wow, wow!!
I have just completed the purchase, all funded by Richer Sounds, of a dedicated HiFi set up, totally separate from my AV system as I revive my vinyl collection, lying dormant for over 30 years, and the jewels in the crown and cornerstone are the Gold 300s.
Right from the box, these slim black panthers, strained to unleash clarity, power, precision and even warmth, considering a recommended bedding in 50 hours or so, to achieve optimum performance.
Expectation and reality, sometimes tantalisingly close but never quite meet.Not here.
The vibrancy and edge these speakers provide, transport you to your own personal performance in your lounge. Even with cds, the difference in sound is marked, and with the few vinyls I have played, that undeniably open, full fidelity is revealed gloriously. Close your eyes and Elton John, Rod Stewart or Pink Floyd are less than 15 feet away. They are that good.
Floor speakers by their very shape can be aesthetically challenging. However, here, the sleek gloss finish belies the physicality of these monsters, and they almost look bijou in size.
Purchasing high end equipment can be not only expensive but daunting.
I must pay tribute to the friendly, expertise demonstrated by all the staff at Southampton branch, but especially, Paul C, my personal mentor and guide through many tricky decisions. Invaluable. Mike my installer. A nicer person you could not meet. I wish he had stayed all day.
They are expensive, but premium quality, both in build and audio output never comes cheap. It may be a truism but you usually get what you pay for. They deliver in spades.
I am so looking forward to rediscovering all my favourite artists, courtesy of these Gold 300s. Thank you Monitor Audio for enabling a new listening experience.
