Designed for breath-takingperformance
Ideal for larger rooms and dynamic musicand movies, the Monitor Audio Silver 300 leave a lasting impression. Thethree-way design means there's a separate unit dedicated to midrangefrequencies - typically vocals. With twin drivers left to get on with the jobof producing bass, this is a genuine full-range speaker that doesn't requirethe services of a separate subwoofer to get to the bottom of the music.
The best drive units – improved
Featuringa completely new version of Monitor Audio’s iconic gold tweeter dome, thetreble response is better than ever. Tuned for a crisp, low distortion sound, the top-end is sweeter than ever. The 6" bass cones and 4"mid-range units feature distinctive RST (Rigid Surface Technology). Inspired bythe Japanese art of Origami, the lightweight cones are made more rigid by theprecise pattern of surface dimples. It makes the mid-range open andnatural-sounding.
With technology from the Platinumseries
Evolved from the reference quality Platinum models, the Silver 300 features DCF (Dynamic Coupling Filter). This replaces the usual, solid coupling of driver and voice coil with a flexible coupling. This helpsdamp any surplus energy, aiding the precison of sound. The perforated designalso helps with cooling and pressure relief – giving enhanced efficiency.
Cabinets designed with help from the NationalPhysical Laboratory
Designed with the aid of aprecision laser scanner from NPL (National Physical Laboratory), thehandcrafted cabinets are exceptionally well built. The scanner identified areasof cabinet resonance making the placement of the bracing pin-point accurate.Ultra-low cabinet distortion lets the drive units perform unimpeded, giving youthe clearest and most natural sound going.
Slim-line and superbly finished to match yourdecor
Available in a wide range of premium real woodveneers and high gloss finishes, the Silver 300 looks every bit as good as itsounds. The new tweeter features a smart speckled finish for individual style.A slim-line design with rear-mounted port looks sleek and makes these speakersunobtrusive in your home. Magnetically attached grilles give a clean appearancewhen removed - ideal for showing off those hi-tech drive units.
Fromfull orchestras to rock concerts and everything in-between, the Monitor Audio Silver300 speakers does your music justice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by beardedwombat from Simply gorgeous! I spent about three and a half hours auditioning speakers over two days at the Brighton branch. I was initially interested in the Tannoy XT6F and 8F but was not particularly impressed with the build quality although they sounded ok. There was a pair of the Monitor Audio Silver 200 in the demo room which were in a completely different league when it came to build and finish but sounded less exciting than the Tannoys. I asked if it was possible to audition the Silver 300, was told they would be happy to order them in for me to hear and arranged to call back a couple of days later - excellent service! On hearing the 300s for the first time, the midrange really socked me between the ears! The 300s have a mid driver that the 200s lack, and it shows. Bass and treble was there ok but it was the midrange that stood out and the soundstage with it. This was what I was looking for. These were more or less fresh out of the box and had been left running overnight for me so only a few hours use. They were a bit raucous really but I reckoned that when run in they would calm down slightly and so I decided to take a punt and bought them. I am driving them with music (Tidal HiFi/Master and flac files) streamed from a laptop to a Chord Hugo TT and Chord TToby amp running balanced. They have now had about 90 hours and have indeed calmed down a bit. A little lower mid/upper bass warmth appeared after about 30 hours which helped a lot, particularly with vocals. As time has gone by the soundstage has become more defined including depth, treble is sweeter and bass is much more authoritive. These babies can rumble! Percussion is astonishing with, for example, cymbals actually sounding like cymbals, a brushed drumskin being clearly heard etc. Room placement does make a difference and these cabinets have been tuned to be fairly close (2 - 3 feet) to a rear wall. I found just a slight toe-in to suit my room best. Mine are in the gorgeous walnut veneer finish and look beautiful. If you audition a pair bear in mind that they need to be run in so do not be put off if they sound overly bright, they will calm down! The only thing that could be improved are the outrigger feet. I think the plates the feet screw to need to be thicker as it is possible to very slightly rock the top of the cabinet even if all four spikes are bedded to the floor. I think the plates flex slightly though I doubt if the sound is affected. Great job Monitor Audio!
