Featuring a completely new version of Monitor Audio’s iconic gold tweeter dome, the treble response is better than ever. Tuned for a crisp, low distortion sound, the top-end is sweeter than ever. The compact bass cone features distinctive RST (Rigid Surface Technology). Inspired by the Japanese art of Origami, the lightweight cone is made more rigid by the precise pattern of surface dimples. It makes the bass and mid-range natural-sounding and effortlessly flowing.
With technology from the Platinum series
Evolved from the reference quality Platinum models, the Silver 50 features DCF (Dynamic Coupling Filter). This replaces the usual, solid coupling of driver and voice coil with a flexible coupling. This helps damp any surplus energy, aiding the precison of sound. The perforated design also helps with cooling and pressure relief – giving enhanced efficiency.
Cabinets designed with help from the National Physical Laboratory
Designed with the aid of a precision laser scanner from NPL (National Physical Laboratory), the handcrafted cabinets are exceptionally well built. The scanner identified areas of cabinet resonance making the placement of the bracing pin-point accurate. Ultra-low cabinet distortion lets the drive units perform unimpeded, giving you the clearest and most natural sound going.
Slim-line and superbly finished to match your decor
Available in a wide range of premium real wood veneers and high gloss finishes, the Silver 50 looks every bit as good as it sounds. The new tweeter features a smart speckled finish for individual style. A slim-line design with rear-mounted port looks sleek and makes these speakers unobtrusive in your home. Oh! What a Lovely Noise!
These being the first speakers I have needed to buy in many a year, and them needing to have some very specific dimensions, I knew the only place to go for advice was Richer Sounds.
I had already bought a Sonos Amp, and have Sonos SL One speakers spread through the house for casual listening (including a stereo Pair in the kitchen which I have to say has been excellent), as much as I like the Sonos system, I consider the system in my lounge to be a longer term investment than I think Sonos will provide software updates for, so I wanted to be able to link up some 'traditional' bookshelf speakers and a sub.
I have partnered these speakers with an REL Zero MkIII (also bought refurbished through Richer Sounds) and I have to say; the sound is just wonderful. I was worried that the speakers wouldn't 'fill' my room, as the lounge is about 6m x 5m, and hardwood floors mean it can be quite echoey. But I shouldn't have had any concern at all - these little speakers just fill the space with a rich, textured and beautifully separated sound. I listen to quite a broad range of music, and I am finding that certain pieces I have enjoyed for years, are starting to reveal details I had previously missed.
As a huge fan of the Grateful Dead, I listen to a lot of live music - and I have never before heard (for example) the depth of tone in the guitars on Europe '72 the way I can hear them through these little speakers!
Admittedly, the speakers are paired with a superb sub, which does some of the 'heavy lifting' where the bass is concerned, but even on bass heavy tracks with a complex or 'busy' mid range (such as 'Original Nuttah' by Shy FX) I find that each aspect of the track can be heard clearly.
When I was first advised of these speakers by Luis from the Leeds store, I will admit I did baulk at the price but then I thought to myself 'I've been advised superbly by RS in the past - just trust them!' - and I did, and I am as happy as it's possible to be with a set of speakers!
Just get them; you won't regret it!

Small speakers big sound
Always had larger cabinet speakers before, but I don't have the space at the moment, however I do not feel the sound has been compromised in any way. Highly recommended

Crisp and exacting sound quality
We bought the Monitor Audio Silver 50 speakers with a Cambridge amp and are thrilled with the quality of the sound, absolutely brilliant. Mike at richer Sounds Brighton patiently took us through the options, recognised what we were after and led us to a great set-up that we now love listening to. It looks great with the speakers in white, the aesthetics match the sound quality.
