No compromise picture quality
In selecting the advanced SoC (System on Chip) technology from MediaTek, the Oppo UDP-203 is the first UHD Blu-ray player to use this next generation of advanced image processing. This not only means 'reference' picture quality but also the ability to keep pace with the most advanced picture technologies, including various forms of HDR (High Dynamic Range) - the next generation of UHD.
UHD Blu-ray - the perfect match for your 4K UHD TV
At long last the resolution from films on Blu-ray now matches the UHD resolution of your 4K TV - maximising the potential of every pixel to give super-crisp detail and realism. With a wide range of UHD Blu-ray films already available, you can enjoy the very best in sound and vision from today.
HDR mode selection
Compatible with HDR, the UDP203 facilitates the highest standard of picture quality from a compatible HDR TV. If you don't have an HDR-equipped TV, one of the modes lets you select HDR to SDR (Standard Definition Resolution).
High Res Sound
As well as offering a new level of picture detail, the USP203 is also compatible with High Res Audio playback. FLAC, WAV and ALAC High Res files right up to 384kHz/32bit resolution and DSD256 (two channel) are covered. This high bit-rate and wide range of file formats gives you access to the best High Res music currently available.
Universal disc playback
Ideal for both the music lover and film buff alike, the Oppo UDP-203 plays back a massive range of disc formats. As well as UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray (including 3D), DVD and CD it will also play SACD and DVD-Audio discs, making it a truly universal player. You can also output the sound via HDMI audio, 7.1 channel RCA, or two-channel RCA phono, making it ideal for all types of AV receivers and amps.
Network equipped
With built-in dual band Wi-Fi at 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz it's easy to connect the Oppo to your wireless network, without interference. If you prefer a wired connection, an Ethernet LAN connection is also standard. Thanks to DLNA compatibility it's also easy to link up to any PCs, laptops or NAS drive units on your network and stream audio, video or photo content.
Flexible HDMI connectivity
With best in class connectivity, the UDP-203 goes above and beyond the norm. A second, audio only, HDMI output gives you the chance to enjoy UHD picture quality while also using an older, incompatible, AV receiver. Simply connect your TV to the main HDMI and AVR to the secondary output. There's also an HDMI input. This HDMI 2.0 standard input lets you loop through other 4K sources, such as a games console or set-top box - ideal when the TV only has a single compatible HDMI input!
Triple USB sockets
The mastery of connectivity continues with the trio of USB sockets. At the front of the player there's a USB 2.0 socket that's perfect for connecting USB memory stick. For plug-and-play audio and video you can't get easier than this. At the back are twin USB 3.0 sockets. These are ideal for more permanent connections, such as an HDD (Hard Disc Dive) up to 16TB for streaming media.
Squeeze every ounce of ability out of your HDR TV, with the Oppo UDP-203. Home cinema has never been so thrilling.

In some ways brilliant, almost perfect but not quite.
Blu ray playback is good, I had to turn off most of the video noise and upscaling features of my tv (an LG OLED c6v) to get the best out of it.
3D blu ray playback was actually stunning, I was pretty amazed at how 3d everything was and the correct depth was applied throughout. It breathes new life into 3D which I'd previously given up on.
UHD blu ray playback too is brilliant but I did notice disappointingly that the picture stutters for a fraction of a second every so oftend during playback, something that should soon be fixed in a firmware release.
Pass thru AV is really useful. You also benefit from some upscaling options for your chosen source.
The disc drive itself was quite noisy after putting a uhd disc in but this disappeared after 10 minutes.
Streaming from network sources is very easy as you can scan the local network for sources and log in.
Audio is another area where the player shines, it throws audio around the room perfectly and creates a great stage around you.

Outstanding picture quality
I'd read great things about Oppo players so was determined to wait for their UHD player rather than buy an alternative. My decision was vindicated when I put a standard DVD into the player and couldn't believe how good the upscaled picture was. I'm attaching a couple of photos to show the quality on a 55" Loewe OLED TV.
The quality of Blu-ray is outstanding - it's so close to 4K you wonder if you actually need to spend £25-£30 a go on those disks.
The build quality is extremely good. Solid aluminium case, a user-friendly interface and back-lit remote control.
This player will breathe new life into your collection be it DVD or Blu-ray. I haven't seen HDR or Dolby Vision disks yet so cannot pass judgement. If you're looking for a superb player for a not-unreasonable price you'll be hard pushed to find a better one.

Oppo delivers Big Time.
This new model from Oppo is a wonderful piece of kit. After connecting it up, I was immediately prompted to install a firmware update. This was done very quickly. I then placed a Blu Ray of Pat Metheny Groups 'The Way Up-Live' inside and pressed play. The picture quality was stunning and the DTS HD Master audio sounded perfect. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Incredible if your a film fanatic
I've been waiting for this player to come out ever since I bought my Panasonic DX902, and I'm over the moon I waited, it's not cheap, but if your a massive movie buff like myself then there is no question this is the best player out on the market (if you have the display to take advantage of the quality), the build quality is incredible so much so I wouldn't be surprised if it's built out of granit, and the quality of image is outstanding. The operating system is super slick and supports just about anything worth supporting in a blu Ray player. (No iPlayer, Netflix or Amazon) but to be honest I wouldn't use it anyway as it's built into my tv. The upscaling is stunning, so much so I played some old dvds and was amazed, I wouldn't say it looks far off full 1080p but with no artifacting! I don't know how oppo have managed to do this (witchcraft) all in all I can't give it a bigger thumbs up. If your an AV enthusiast then this is the player for you. If not, there are cheaper options.
