Project a big 100” screen from just over a metre away, with the short throw Optoma GT1080 DARBEE projector – the perfect choice for smaller rooms.

Putting clarity first with DARBEE Visual Presence

For total and professional control of the picture, the GT1080 is equipped with DARBEE Visual Presence. It provides greater clarity and increases the perception of depth resulting in a more dynamic, lifelike experience.

Short throw lens
Thanks to a short throw lens, the Optoma GT1080 DARBEE is ideal when space is tight. Even when positioned just over a metre from the wall, the Optoma can produce an image as big as 100" (254cm), making the biggest pictures in the smallest rooms easy to achieve. Settle for a smaller size image (still big by TV standards) and you’ll get a crystal clear image within a metre of the wall – making this ideal for desktop projection.

Rec.709 for picture brilliance
Colour precision, resolution, frame rate and display specifications are all guaranteed by meeting one of the highest HD video standards seen in professional-grade home cinema today: Rec. 709. Instigated by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union), Rec.709 approval means a true cinema-like appearance.

Outstanding brightness
Boasting an outstanding brightness figure of 3000 ANSI Lumens, the GT1080 DARBEE not only offers bright and vivid colours but is also able to be used in many lighting conditions. Even during daylight conditions with curtains or blinds open, the Optoma can produce a watchable and detailed picture - something that can't always be said for some more expensive designs.

Pin sharp detail from Texas instrument's DLP chip
Using Texas Instrument's DLP technology, the Optoma GT1080 DARBEE gives crystal clear clarity, sharply defined images and true, natural colour. Even at larger screen sizes, the detail is astounding and would have once been the preserve of projectors costing many times more. In order to make the most of high definition video sources, the Optoma will also project 1080p Full HD images, making it the perfect match for your Blu-ray player or Full HD gaming device.

Optional 3D
Impressive as the Optoma GT1080 DARBEE is in 2D, it's only when you take advantage of the optional 3D system that the picture becomes truly immersive. Just add the optional ZF2300 3D glasses system, connect up to a suitable source and enjoy 3D images that are every bit as bold as at the cinema. Rather than using Infra-Red, the Optoma uses a Radio Frequency (RF) system. This not only reduces the chance of interference but also provides a higher contrast and brighter images. The optional glasses are also fully rechargeable.

HDMI with MHL
With twin HDMI sockets, the Optoma is well equipped to handle your digital sources. The HDMI interface is also compatible with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link). This lets you connect up a suitable smartphone or tablet to the HDMI socket and watch HD video, at up to 1080p Full HD, from your mobile device, on the big screen!

Perfect for smaller rooms or to take to friends and family’s homes – the Optoma GT1080 DARBEE makes the big screen possible in any space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Home Cinema 3D Projector I bought this projector from Richard Sounds (great service as usual), back in August 2017 and so I have had plenty of time to play with it. I looked around for a couple of months at projectors below the £1000 mark. The Optima GT1080 Darbee was the only one suitable. I do not have a room that is suitable for a permanent large screen setup. Windows, doors, and fire are all in the wrong places. The projector was never meant for replacing the television. It is used for film nights and for this purpose it is superb. The projector sits on a coffee table about 5ft away from a Celeron 8ft wide tripod screen. Setup takes less than half an hour and to dismantle it even less time. Even with the seats placed at the far wall, it is a bit like having IMAX in the living room. Having been brought up with 8mm and 16mm projectors the noise the fan makes is not a problem. Just can't hear it when the film is on. I do see rainbow effects occasionally but not everyone is affected by that. The effect is minimal and appears mostly in dark high contrast scenes such as the white on black credits at the end of most movies. Funnily enough, I never see it while watching 3D movies. One of the functions I was most looking forward to was the Darbee image enhancement. This is a great addition to this projector. Foreground faces and clothing, in particular, take on an almost 4K quality. I turn up the Darbee for 3D film shows. Projecting in 3D seems a little softer than 2D projection but Darbee sharpens it up again. I did find that I had to turn Darbee down or off for some older films such as House of Wax because the Darbee enhanced the grain and noise. Because I have a large 3D collection one of the reasons for buying a projector was to be able to experience large screen 3D and in this case better than the cinema. You will, of course, require good quality 3D content but that is still available on Blu-ray. If you have this projector and never watch in 3D, what a waste. I did not go to the expense of buying the 3D emitter. I just got myself a few DLP 3D glasses and use the projector on DLP 3D mode. Make sure your glasses can handle 140 Hz and you should have no problem with synching. The projector delivers perfect immersive 3D with no double imaging. You will have to make sure your room is dark for 3D shows. The glasses cut out a bit of the light. You can argue about colour wheels, colour casts, and the likes but this projector delivers a good picture and because I can easily set up the living room as a 3D home cinema with an 8ft wide picture and just as easily dismantle the setup, I give the projector 5 stars.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3D function is non existant We do love the projector despite my review title. Had some great movie nights already and Star Wars looks brilliant. Picture is very good, instructions easy and glad we opted for short throw as we have options of move it about and it isn't permanent. There are negatives however. You will definitely need to connect to an external speaker system because the built-in 10 watt is next to useless. We tried watching a movie but even the sound of popcorn crunching masks the sound. The other gripe, and a big one for me, is the 3D. This is utterly rubbish! I am a big fan of 3D, which was what led me to this model but extremely disappointed. Basically, there is no 3D! You enable it, make sure everything is connected and off you go. At first I was thinking, I must not have the setting in the right place, it is that bad. After an hour of re-reading the instructions and trying various 3D movies we decided 3D is a non starter. We are able to determine 3D mode is enabled, because you get these dreadful reds and blues and the worst ghosting I've ever seen. Other than that, brilliant service from Maidstone Richer Sounds as always!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GT1080e Darbee I bought this about a week ago and have been super impressed. the short throw range has already made from some impressive movie nights and games nights. I typically dont watch TV so this is actually good value in a sense when I am watching a film we can make it intoan
