A compact projector that produces big and bright images - the Optoma HD27 is a great entertainer.

Big pictures made easy

Smaller and lighter than its already compact predecessor, the Optoma HD27 is the perfect projector for permanent or occasional use. Its modest proportions means that it doesn't dominate your room and can easily be transported or put away when not in use. With HDMI sockets, it's easy to plug in a smart TV device and get instant entertainment.

USB power
Thanks to the built-in USB power outlet you can also power your source device. Whether you're using a smart TV dongle, smartphone or tablet, the HD27 makes sure it's got all the power it needs for the duration of the show.

New colour wheel for outstanding accuracy
Modelled on the High Definition TV standard, Rec.709, the HD27 uses a new colour wheel to deliver the truest possible colour reproduction. With such accurate colour you can enjoy lifelike images from sports, movies and documentaries.

Dynamic black
With Optoma's Dynamic Black system, the HD27 offers an excellent contrast ratio of 25,000:1. By smoothly adjusting the lamp output for each frame, the HD27 is able to offer the darkest blacks alongside the brightest whites.

Outstanding brightness
Boasting an outstanding brightness figure of 3200 ANSI Lumens, the HD27 gives bright and vivid colours but can also be used in many lighting conditions. Even during daylight conditions with curtains or blinds open, the HD27 produces a watchable and detailed picture - something that can't couldn't always be said of projectors.

Pin- sharp detail from TI's DLP chip set
Using Texas Instrument's DLP technology, the Optoma HD27 gives crystal clear clarity, sharply defined images and true, natural colour. Even at larger screen sizes, the detail is astounding and would have once been the preserve of projectors costing many times more. In order to make the most of high definition video sources, the HD27 will also project 1080p Full HD images, making it the perfect match for your Blu-ray player or Full HD gaming device.

24P and gaming modes
To make the most of gaming, this projector features a special Gaming Mode. This optimises the projector's settings to give lightning fast response, maximum contrast and vivid colours, making gaming on the big screen even more involving. The HD27 is also 24P compatible, so will replay films shot at 24 frames per second at the correct speed, without glitching.

Optional 3D
Impressive as the Optoma HD27 is in 2D, it's only when you take advantage of its 3D system that the picture becomes truly immersive. Just add the optional ZF2100 3D glasses system, connect up to a suitable source and enjoy 3D images that are every bit as bold as at the cinema. Rather than using infra-red, the HD27 uses a Radio Frequency system. This reduces the chance of interference and provides a higher contrast and brighter images. The optional glasses are fully rechargeable.

HDMI with MHL
With twin HDMI sockets, the HD27 is well equipped to handle digital sources. The HDMI interface is also compatible with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link), enabling connection with a suitable smartphone or tablet to watch HD video, from your mobile device, on the big screen.

For big screen entertainment, without the hassle, the Optoma HD27 brings it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous, and well under a grand. So I spent ages looking into the best trade-off between lumens, contrast, noise and definition. I also had to have a reasonable zoom to fit the room. It's difficult to get a real idea of quality, as lots are full HD, and all vary. Shopping around, Richer Sounds were again best - and the reviews re-enforced and re-assured me. I wish I'd remembered that Richer Sounds were big on Projectors as well as Hi-Fi, as it would have saved me a load of time. I have to say that in use, and on an image size of 210", the quality is stunning on Blu-Ray. Colours are crisp, lag and remnance seem virtually not there, and the blacks are great. Brightness is not an issue, and I have it in "Movie Mode", which reduces lamp brightness in favour of best colour. The colours are great, and the brightness is still ample. I've even used it outdoors, where it pushes through daylight (not direct sunlight), and the image is fabulous under the stars. Outdoor home cinema, here we come! (Don't get it wet, though)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good budget projector For the price tag, £520.....this would be hard to beat for picture quality, hd and 3d in particular very good. Although the optima has built in speakers, a sound bar or after market speakers is a must to make the most of home cinema. Another nice touch is the backlit remote, glowing a nice blue in the a darkened room. Overall very good value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge upgrade from my hd25e Loving my new projector. Colour and contrast so much better than my previous projector. Top job richer sounds. Great recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect projector in this price range. Before I have bought this projector I have read many projectors compare sites. Picture quality is really good. There is one thing I spotted in minus: sometimes on the screen I can see rainbow effect but that not affect watching at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly astonishing pictures As a replacement for our aging, dim Optoma HD72i this has been superb. Colours are truer, whites whiter and blacks blacker. Unlike the HD72i it replaces, the lens is pin sharp and easy to focus so that images are always pleasing. The unit itself is also quite compact and light but I can see some cost cutting in terms of the feet adjustment and the case. However, it still feels robust. Colour rendering is pretty staggering for a low-price device and motion is well handled with no obvious juddering. The 'rainbow effect' can be a bit evident in some scenes but then I was looking for it and most people will not notice. I was less than happy with the heat that belts out of it, it was actually like a fan heater and the noise can be excessive in a small room watching a quiet drama. The 3D is very, very good and you would be advised not to eat before watching 'Gravity'! If you want a good, all round video projector..this is it. I heartily recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing picture quality My first projector and probably my last, since there's no apparent need to replace it Very easy to set up despite manual CD not loading (it's also easy to find online) - all the controls/menus can be worked out easily. And the picture quality is amazing, even with quite a lot of ambient light in the room. It's also pretty quiet and the sound quality from the included speaker is much better than expected too, good enough for gaming, though a sound bar is needed for serious cinema viewing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Large screen joy from the Optoma HD27 The new dc3 dmd chip and colour wheel make the picture crisper, smoother and colourful, a plus as picture quality is the main player here. Judder was noticed when panning images move horizontally though. Black levels are better than I expected but the claimed 25,000:1 contrast ratio does not translate to the reality you see on the screen. Extra long lamp life? well lets see in 5 years or so. Fan noise is fair enough. The focus ring is too close to the lens so fiddly to adjust, and no lens cover is supplied with the projector. I/O connectors are everything you need these days, so no useless ports, unless your equipment dates back to the 90's and beyond, upgrade to get the best from this projector, as the makers intended. Don't expect too much from the internal speaker though. A good cinema sound system would just complete the whole experience. I impressed how Optoma can knock out such a quality viewing experience for so little money. I recommend the Optoma HD27.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing upgrade over Optoma HD26. Home Cinema has come of age at this price point finally. New Optoma HD27 is excelllent. The lens is now so much sharper and using REC709, grass on HD Sky Sports is green unlike many previous projectors. Colours are a really eye opener and I cannot imagine how good more expensive projectors must be, as the HD27 is superb!
