Archive your collections to Blu-ray
This versatile unit allows you to record onto a variety of discs, from DVDs to Blu-rays. Blu-ray recording allows you to preserve your favourite programmes, movies and personal recordings at the highest quality possible, with full support for Full HD.
Record to DVD
DVD recording is also on hand for standard definition content. With support for a wide variety of disc formats including DVD-RAM, the DMR-BWT850 gives you the greatest flexibility in creating and archiving your video collection.
4K UHD upscaling and 4K JPEG playback
With 4K UHD upscaling on both Blu-ray and hard drive, the DMR-BWT850EB makes the ideal partner for your 4K TV. Although not as good as native 4K, upscaling from Full HD gives superior detail and realism. Taking this even further, this Panasonic Blu-ray recorder also offers 4K JPEG playback, giving you the ability to see your photos on the big screen in the highest quality possible.
3D playback including 2D to 3D conversion
As you'd expect from Panasonic, the DMRBWT850EB offers a detailed and natural picture quality. 3D compatibility lets you view 3D Blu-rays on your 3D TV, plus there's 2D-3D conversion. 2D-3D conversion allows you to watch any 2D material up-converted to glorious 3D.
New Freeview Play for easy access to catch up TV
Freeview Play combines catch-up TV, on-demand services and live television to make watching what you want, when you want as easy as possible. The service is free from subscription and compatible with existing broadband services. Services such as the BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5 are available without having to open specific applications, giving effortless scroll-back TV (requires broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2Mbps).
UHD 4K video playback and archiving
With the ability to record 4K content (MP4) and playback 4K video recorded to USB, the DMRBWT850 makes the ideal companion for your 4K TV. If you've signed up to Netflix, you'll also be able to enjoy 4K playback via the built-in app.
Record up to 1TB of TV programmes in HD
Twin HD tuners mean that you can not only pause and rewind live TV but also record two different channels at the same time. What's more, with a mighty 1TB built-in hard drive you can record up to 518 hours of programmes in SD or 259 hours of HD TV. In the unlikely event that you should run out of space then a separate USB-equipped hard drive can be connected up by USB and data transferred from one to the other.
Smart Networking
Connect to your home network via the built-in Wi-Fi or Ethernet and you can enjoy a wide range of Smart networking options. Choose from a wide selection of apps or use the web browser for easy access to the Internet. With DLNA compatibility you can also stream content from other devices on your network - perfect for accessing the videos you may have stored on your computer.
Remote Recording and viewing
Take control of recording, even when you're hundreds of miles from home with Remote Recording. Provided your device is connected to Broadband Internet, you'll be able to set recording functions remotely via your Smartphone or tablet. With Panasonic's TV Anywhere you can also stream recordings and live TV directly to your Smartphone or tablet (excludes BBC content). Now there's no excuse on missing out on your favourite programme!
Playback, record, stream and catch-up - it's all possible on the multi-tasking Panasonic DMRBWT850EB.

Very good deck
Excellent deck and I will say the only one on the market that burns Blu-ray discs. I have now got five yes five of these decks. We find that they do what they say on the box. Can also watch iPlayer scroll back and many other useful features. This deck has ran since 2015 and does need a upgrade so I can play my 4k Blu-ray without having to purchase a player. Really is worth the money.

Good machine
I bought the BWT850 to replace a BWT720 which after years of good service started being erratic. Very pleased with the machine generally. The one major downside as far as I am concerned is that the type faces on the guide screens (ie. Freeview Guide) are so small that it is almost impossible to read them if you are at all visually challenged. This was not the case with the 720. In addition the colours chosen for some of these screens fail to provide adequate contrast in many cases and so make the problem worse. Finally the screen used for selecting recording material seems to be more colourful than the old model but tends to be somewhat more clunky.

Upgraded from DMR-BS850
I purchased the BWT850 Blu-ray as a replacement for DMR-BS850 which after 12yrs. or so couldn't access the guide content and after getting a new mother board fitted and still same problem, I bought the new model which does every thing and more well pleased

It can do so much
I still need to check if an external HDD from my previous Panasonic BR model can be played on my new one. I hope so! The slowness of loading is quite bad sadly. My phone is lightening fast so it is odd not to include a faster system. Otherwise it is the best on the market for recording, editing, and saving items.

Now appears to turn on properly
Having now had the repaired unit back with a new main board it appears to boot up correctly without stopping at "hello"

Very happy with it.
Editing and long term broadcast movie archiving for home viewing). Only drawback I can see so far is removal of thumbnailing for the user (easy on my ancient SD model).
