Philips TAB8805 (Black)

Combining Dolby Atmos compatibility with complete smart speaker functionality, the Philips TAB8805/10 is a top quality soundbar and smart speaker, in one.

Support for Dolby Atmos for overhead effects
With support for Dolby Atmos you get more of the cinema sound in your home. Dolby Atmos delivers a more enveloping sound by creating the impression of the sound coming from above – perfect for feeling the full effect of a thunderstorm or aircraft flying overhead.
Dedicated centre channel for crystal-clear sound
As well as the usual left and right speaker channels, the TAB8805/10 also features a dedicated centre channel. This is designed to ‘anchor’ speech to the centre of your TV’s screen, making it sound much clearer and easier to follow.
Separate subwoofer
Just as vocals sound better when they have their own speakers, so does bass. Using a separate subwoofer gives the TAB8805/10 the power to do justice to action movies and stadium music. Now you won’t just hear the bass but feel it when the action hots up. Wireless connectivity means the subwoofer doesn’t have to be placed near the soundbar – it can just as easily be placed the other side of the room.
Google Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, for the complete networking experience
As well as bringing your TV to life, the TAB8805/10 also offers a wide range of music streaming options. Built-in Google Chromecast lets you stream Hi-Res Audio music from your chosen device. With Google Play Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music HD, Spotify, TIDAL, Deezer, Qobuz and many others available, you’ll never be without music. Alternatively, this Philips soundbar is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth – covering your every streaming music requirement.
DTS Play-Fi for effortless music streaming
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'. Download the free app from the Apple Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), Kindle Fire or for your Windows PC and get started on streaming all your favourite music. You not only get access to Internet radio but also popular music apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music and Napster. It’s all here, for near limitless music.
Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri voice assistants
Compatible (not built-in) with Amazon and Google voice assistants, the TAB8805/10 integrates with your voice-operated household. If you prefer to use the Apple system, AirPlay 2 compatibility facilitates the use of Siri, too.
Full HDMI connectivity
With twin HDMI inputs and an output, the TAB8805/10 easily connects to your home entertainment system. Plug in your games console and Blu-ray player and route them through to the Philips for the best sound. The Philips passes through 4K video signals, meaning you don’t have to use separate connections to the TV. Digital optical and analogue 3.5mm inputs for other sources are also included.
Upgrade your home entertainment in one, with the Philips TAB8805/10.

Great and expansive sound
This bar replaced a five-year old Philips XS1. I had my doubts it would be as powerful, since the bar and sub-woofer are considerably smaller in the photos. The bar itself is actually quite big, roughly one meter long. The sound is quite expansive and does require some tweaking so that the bass does not come overpowered. I didn't have any issues installing and connecting it to my wifi network, as it doubles as a Chromecast device. For the price, the features are quite good.

Great product - let down by Philips firmware
I bought this soundbar and connected it to a brand new Philips 65OLED806 TV using HDMI eARC. It took a bit of faffing about to get it to work initially, I recommend not setting up the PlayFi if you don't need it, as the bar then continuously overrides the HDMI connection and chooses PlayFi instead. Initially it worked perfectly well (be mindful that the centre speaker sound defaults to zero for some reason, so you need to turn it up straight away for it to work). From then on however the bar would randomly emit no sound, the connections were fine and it sometimes took altering the TV settings from Multimedia Bypass to Multimedia or turning eARC off to get it to work. Sometimes that didn't work so I would reset the whole thing. That worked on occasion but not every time. I would also sporadically get sound on one streaming app but not another, or sound on a terrestrial channel (BBC1 for example) but nothing on BBC1 HD. There was no real rhyme nor reason. I upgraded the HDMI cable from 2.0 to 2.1 which initially solved the problem...for a week or so, then it returned. Richer Sounds Tunbridge Wells were, as always, helpful as ever and swapped the bar for a brand new one. All fine to begin with, and then the same problem. From what I can tell through forums on the Internet this is a Philips firmware problem, which is very poor from them as little seems to be being done to rectify it, leaving consumers in the farcical position where two products from the same company don't talk to each other. The solution I've found thus far is to leave the setting on Multimedia (not 'Bypass') and disabling eARC. As I only stream 4K content that's not an issue, ARC is perfectly fine. What would happen if I buy a UHD player remains to be seen however...
In summary, when it works it's a great bit of kit, very sleek looking and punchy bass from the wireless Sub. It will probably work perfectly fine (ironically) with another make of TV, but don't be surprised if you encounter problems with a Philips one.

Great audio quality and punchy bass
I bought this to pair with the Philips TV I recently purchased. I'm definitely happy with the combination and how the combination works with eARC.
Audio quality is great with nice bass for movies or music. The Playfi feature is nice also. I can jump into Spotify and push to the soundbar even when it is on standby.
I read some reviews about issues with firmware updates, but I had no issues at all.

Does away with all those speaker cables
Bought this to replace my 5.1 set up since i have wires all over the living room. For the price it does a decent job , But nowhere the sound from my 5.1 set up, But with the cost of energy going up , I was running a 300 KWH Receiver and now i am down to 80KWH . Looks neat under the TV and all set up with my Logitech harmony elite remote.

Nice sound
Sounds good, can be a little tinny at higher volumes but the sub makes up for it, just makes it not great for standard tv, great for films though and music sounds awesome.

Easy to set up, amazing sound!
Wasn't sure which soundbar to buy, so having always trusted Richer Sounds in the past, decided to go for something they had in stock. Great deicision! Buying on-line was easy, delivery was fast and exactly when they said it would be. The soundbar is easy to set up, it's pretty much just plug 'n' play. The sound is amazing, especially the base from the sub-woofer which gives a true cinema feel. The bar also looks good, sitting perfectly in front of the TV. Great value for money. Well done to Richer Sounds
