If you have a wireless network at home, this unit can hook up to it straight away, without you having to connect additional cables or buy a "dongle" or other accessory.
USB sockets allow you to do all sorts of things. Most commonly you can play media stored on a flash drive, but some units can record to one too or connect accessories like video-calling cameras.
HDMI is the most common way to connect your devices. It can carry high definition picture, sound and even remote control commands between equipment.

Plugged it in, it works.Have had Humax boxes before and this one doesn't disappoint. We simply connected it all up and have been using it ever since.
The only 'problem' to date is that we have to have the Humax box powered on in order to watch the TV. I really do need to read the instructions.

Very good all-rounderThe Humax FVP4000T (500gb) is a good product, with a wide variety of inputs and features.
It has a good quality look to the equipment, and a sensible laid out handset. Lights indicating it is on/off need to be improved, as they are on the bottom of the unit and are very hard to see.
Picture and sound quality are really good, with a strong reception signal, and the GUI is not the best laid-out user interface i have seen, but it's functional.
To sum up, very good product held back slightly by a few user interface niggles, from stopping this product from been great.

Easy to use.Although the interface is completely different from my last Humax, it was very easy to get used to.
It can be a little slow on the uptake, so pressing buttons too fast won't get you anywhere! Think tortoise not hare!
One thing design wise is that the standby light is underneath the box. It is very difficult to see if it is recording, off or on. One small tip to improve visibility - we have placed a small mirrored tile underneath the light and we can now see it properly.
Still recommend it though!

Very disappointed.Had a couple of Humax recorders and so when our last one became up for replacement another Humax was the first option. The person at the Milton Keynes branch recommended this unit.
Initially had issues with it freezing which on researching seemed to be down to the auto update function so switched that off.
But the biggest and most frustrating issues are around the user interface. The is no Info button, you have to use a very unituitive sequence of key presses on the remote to get to the program info which differ for live tv and recording. The interface is very slow so you wind up pushing the same buttons many times.
The overall layout of the menus is poor.
The picture quality seems to lack any vibrance on recordings also.
Tried living with it for about 6 months but going to find something else. Last time we buy a Humax,

This product has great featuresWont have a chance to test this product until I move at the end of the month. Have been using the Freesat version for several years which I have been satisfied with (once you get used to the time delay from command to action).
Richer Sounds as usual give good service with superfast delivery even on standard delivery and are competitive as usual.

NOT AS USER FRIENDLY AS THE HUMAX T2I bought this as a replacement for my last Humax. It is not as easy to use and rather than have files simply listed that have been recorded, a pointless picture appears instead which you can't really see properly so I can't see the point. You can't review a programme without changing from the one playing which is annoying if you are listening to the news but want to flick through what else is on and get more detail. It is also noisier in operation. Hopefully I will get used to the differences. No issues with Richer Sounds though, they are a good bunch on knowledgeable friendly people.
