"A plug-and-play turntable that's an absolute pleasure to listen to, with a built-in phono stage and USB output". 'What Hi-Fi? award winner 2016'. 5-star review.

Direct drive precision

Featuring a direct drive motor, the LP5 gives superb pitch stability. Combined with the cast aluminium platter and low resonance chassis, it gives the LP5 great musicality and low distortion.

Quality Audio Technica arm and cartridge
As one of the most recognised tonearm and cartridge manufacturers for decades, the arm and cartridge fitted to the LP5 are both top notch. The J-shaped tonearm is a classic AT design that's designed to minimise tracking error. Fitted with an exclusive version of the legendary AT95e cartridge, the LP5 is well suited to playing back a wide range of music with precison and detail.

Archive your records to PC or Mac via USB
With its USB output, hooking the Audio Technica LP5 to your PC or Mac is a moment's work. Connect the deck to your PC or Mac, use the supplied Audacity software and you can record all your vinyl to MP3. From here, the choice is yours. Load them on to your MP3 player or NAS drive, record on to CD or just have the records archived on your computer - whatever your choice, your LPs are now more accessible than ever before.

Built-in phono stage
Audio Technica have made it easy to hook up the LP5 to your existing system. A built-in phono stage means you don't have to have a hi-fi with a phono pre-amp built-in - any AUX input will work fine.

Hear your records in the quality they deserve - with the Audio Technica LP5.

AUDIO TECHNICA AT-LP5 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What can't it do? I was tempted by sleeker modern turntables, but I listened to one and was slightly disappointed. I kept reading good reviews of the LP5. I bought it for its looks and its sound after listening at Richer Sounds' Preston store . It sounds superb - it is very clear with a good tonal range. It has a chunky build and a 70's look to it, including useful adjustable feet. It's well engineered and has the added bonus of a USB connection and software. I might use it with its built in pre-amp or without, depending on which amp I link it to. I can move it around the house and have vinyl heaven wherever I go. It is a good turntable and delivers quality, flexibility and good value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great product for the price Great sound from built in phono stage, to the beginner it may look a little daunting with all the parts to set up especially the balance but it is really quite straight forward so don't be put off.. great customer service in the South Croydon shop even gave me a demo of what different cartridges sound like.. The only little niggle would be that the power button is a little awkward at the back if you have set it up with the back near to something but my one if free standing away from anything so no real problem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great customer service opened early to help us and then set up the unit we were interested in so that we could actually play records and really try it out. Couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. We are very happy with our purchase - great sound!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely turntable. So happy with it. When I killed my amp using a cheap inverter on my boat, I went the surround sound route and put my turntable away, as there was no phono stage on my new amp. That was 12 years ago. I bought this turntable with a new, simple Yamaha amp and it sounded pretty ok with its Audio Technica cartridge through my Linn Index speakers, but for my tastes, a bit woolly. Ok, I'm fussy. £320 later, (as much as the turntable cost), I have a blue Ortofon cartridge and wow! How much had I missed my LP's! The cartridge is central to the sound, but can't function if the turntable is no good and this manual direct drive deck is fine. I'm a happy man.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I did quite a bit of homework before finally choosing the AT-LP5 and selecting Richer Sounds for my purchase - and I'm truly thrilled with the result of both searches. We enjoy a wide spectrum of music from 60's pop, (Beatles, Dire Straits, Moody Blues etc} and Country Music, to the Classical composers and Opera. In every case the sound is crisp and authentic. The turntable was easy to set up (using written instructions with product and You Tube video) and, played though our hi-fi system, the resultant sound is excellent. Martin at Richer Sounds in Solihull was very friendly and knowledgeable answering any questions we had. (We also noted they stock an excellent range of TVs - but that's for another time!). Price was easily comparable with anywhere else - but RS offers the peace of mind of Customer Service and Knowledge to back-up the purchase - that's worth much more than a small discount.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended upgrade Delighted with this turntable so far. It replaces an 80s Dual 505-2 with Ortofon OM10 cartridge and NAD PP-1 phono preamp. I don't know which was the weak link, but reviews suggest possibly the basic NAD preamp. Using the AT's internal phono stage, the sound is now more detailed and sweeter, and the soundstage is much more obvious, with a sense of "being there". Teamed with my Rotel RA971 Mk 2 amp and recently-bought MA Silver 6 speakers, upgrading to the Audio-Technical turntable has finally released the sound the system is capable of. The turntable was easy to set up and has a substantial feel to it. I miss the semi-auto feature of the Dual. In spite of earthing to the amp, there is some 50-cycle hum. I haven't yet ripped any vinyl using the USB out, but so far am very pleased.
