Taking 4K to the next level with HDR, the Sony KD55XD8599 makes pictures more believable than ever.

4K X1 processor for sublime picture quality

With its UHD screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, the Sony KD55XD8599 is ready for the 4K revolution. Four times more detailed than Full HD, the gain in resolution is clearly visible and, even close up, the detail and realism are awesome. Thanks to Sony's X-Reality PRO 4K technology, standard FHD images can be upscaled to near UHD quality, giving the sharpest detail possible from your Blu-rays and other FHD sources.

HDR - High Dynamic Range
Taking 4K UHD one stage further, this Sony 55 inch TV is now compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range). This extends the range of colours for enhanced realism. It also delivers brighter whites and darker blacks, helping to give this TV stunning levels of contrast.

Triluminos display and Motionflow XR1000Hz
As well as 4K, this Sony TV also boasts a Triluminos display; developed to produce truer, deeper and more natural shades of colour, with skin shades appearing far more natural. It's also fitted with Motionflow XR 1000Hz, which works especially well with fast moving action, such as sports events, removing the blur you can see with standard TVs. From a Hollywood blockbuster to a Formula One race, XR1000 makes a significant difference.

Android TV
Offering the slick interaction of the best smartphones, Android TV is one of the smartest content managers and providers to date. Boasting features such as Google Cast, Google Play and Voice Search, this Sony is part TV and part giant smartphone.

Voice Search and Content Bar for effortless searching
Even with such a massive range of content, finding what you want is always easy. Voice Search means you simply say what you're looking for and let Android TV find it for you. The unobtrusive content bar quickly lets you find the movie, TV show or video you're after. Call up the Content bar and you can keep watching, while you scan through live TV, on demand, downloaded TV shows and more.

Stream PlayStation games straight to your TV
Play selected PlayStation 3 games directly through the TV - without a console! PlayStation Now brings streaming technology to the immersive world of PlayStation gaming. Just pair a DUALSHOCK 4 controller with the TV and you're ready to play with the same speed and responsiveness as a console.

Squeezing more sound from the flatscreen TV
Although flatscreen TVs have their limits and can never match a soundbar or sound base, the Sony KD55XD8599 packs in some technology that can certainly make the most of the space limitations. DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) restores the natural sound from compressed audio, giving it a more spacious and lifelike balance. ClearAudio+ and ClearPhase systems work to create an immersive sound that's also as natural as possible.

IR Blaster for complete control
The supplied IR (Infra-Red) Blaster lets you control other devices in your home from your Sony TV remote. You can use it to control your set-top box - such as Sky, Virgin or Humax - with the TV remote controller, for single remote convenience.

The smartest tech meets the most detailed picture, making the Sony KD55XD8599 the complete home entertainment system on a big scale.

SONY BRAVIA KD55XD8599 is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV Excellent TV from great company, delivery service good and very reliable. Setup was easy, picture is great, sound is great - I don't see the need for paying extra expense of a sound bar - great for watching and playing games. Excellent buy, 6 year guarentee as well, very, very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cracking bit of kit I absolutely love this TV , picture quality is outstanding and whilst £900 isn`t exactly cheap the extra couple of hundred over a "standard" Tv seems worthwhile in my opinion

Rated 4 out of 5 by from can't beat sony We've had sony tvs now for years and we always think we will try other makes but Sony always wins. Well done Sony

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low quality TV Having returned 2 of these due to defective panels with clusters of black pixels, light bleed and coloured clouding, I simply cannot recommend this product. Sony has dreadful customer service and refuses to even acknowledge that there is a problem with their TV's. Stay well clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic picture plus a great looking tv Hi I went to the hull store after reading lots of great reviews about richer sounds.so I travel up to the hull store and got a very warm welcome from a guy called Dan.who I spent a few hours with with no pressure to buy. After looking at all the 4K TVs with some brilliant technical tips on what to look for in looking for a 4K tv that I had never heard before..one tip is to look at the picture in 4K look at a colour say the red..then move sideways still looking at the red...A lot off TVs the colour went from red to pink..This Sony past all the tests it shines out from them all..I was after the Samsung 4K.but the Sony 4K picture beats it hands down..I love the black bezel round the TVs as it blends in nicely with the rest off my gear..i will definitely be going back for a Sony 32" for the bedroom..Amassive thank you to Dan plus the rest off the guys at the Hull richer sounds..I will be back :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievable viewing experience I've just joined the 21st century of TV technology. The clarity of the Sony KD55XD8599 picture is fantastic and all the features are easy to use with the remote. The colours and contrasts are unbelievable, especially on nature programmes. I watch a lot of sport, including football, and any fast action has no blur. I would highly recommend this product. I also bought a Sony Htct80 soundbar which complements the experience and well worth investing in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Sony - very pleased As always , best service from the plymouth team. Always used Richer Sounds and in this case it was nice to directly compare the Panasonic and the Sony side by side. Top spec TV , so far I have had no Android wobbles , i think sony are past that. Picture quality on 4k and HDR is simply stunning, some poor hd and all SD pictures now look a bit shabby, but thats the screen size for you. Sound is much better than the panasonic led its replaced, but for movies like all flat screens i recommend an additional source. browser and android services are very fast, netflix is fantastic with this beast. Sits nicely as furniture also. Great price for a great set.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great screen, disappointing smart features. The screen on this unit is great, crisp & vibrant. The standard Freeview looks ok but when the HD Freeview is on it's upscaled and really is faultless. Anything HD really looks great. But when we get to the Android TV smart features this set really disappoints. Simple things like the TV running on when turned off, you wonder if you've really turned it off to push the off button again to then turn it back on. The screen can power off but the soud continues. This is really annoying and is symtomatic of this TV's Smart features. They really really LAG. You chose "inputs" and 5 seconds later the inputs options appear. Other annoyances are the WIFI it connects fine for weeks, then decides to not connect, you have to reboot, yes reboot the TV to get it to connect again. Another annoyance is the Smart Home screen, you can't customise it, so you get the Adverts (YES ADVERTS) at the top rather than the Inputs or Apps that you want quick access to. This is not customisable!
