Enjoy the enveloping sound of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, from a more compact AV receiver, with the Marantz NR1710.

Half the height
If you’re pushed for space or simply balk at the sight of a full-size AV receiver, then the compact Marantz NR1710 is ideal for you. Standing just 104mm tall, it's around half the height (or less) of many of its rivals. This not only makes it easier on the eye but also allows it to be slotted in where many other AV receivers simply won't fit.

Full delight
It might be slim in form but the NR1710 is definitely full-fat when it comes to spec. With 7.1 channels, this slimline receiver is compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats. Alternatively, two of the channels can be used for stereo speakers in a second room while still maintaining 5.1 surround sound in the main zone. The discrete power amp design and Pure Direct modes mean this Marantz AV receiver also sounds as special as you’d expect from this leading audio brand.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
Dolby Atmos uses ceiling or upwards firing speakers to produce a multi-dimensional, immersive sound that's a match for the finest cinemas. DTS:X literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema. It renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. DTS Neural:X upmixer supports Dolby formats, giving you DTS surround whatever the format.

Connect even more – including a turntable
Improving upon the already impressive NR1510 model, the NR1710 offers eight HDMI inputs – including one at the front. Component, optical and coaxial digital inputs are ideal for connecting legacy devices such as an older games console, DVD or CD player. Three analogue inputs are perfect for Hi-Fi components, with the dedicated MM phono input ideal for plugging in a turntable.

Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
Controlling a sophisticated AV receiver like this can be baffling for some members of the family, which is why Marantz have made it compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform functions such as volume and source selection. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.

HEOS built-in - for the finest multi-room audio
HEOS multi-room music systems connect together by dual-band Wi-Fi, making them easy to set up with your existing home network. Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. With HEOS already built-in, the NR1710 is ready to go as a single 'zone' without any further adaptors.

Control it all with the HEOS app
Once you've set up your HEOS speaker system, you can stream music effortlessly via the dedicated HEOS app. Available for Apple iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle, the app not only lets you stream your stored music but also Internet radio services and popular streaming services such as Spotify, Tidal, Napster and Deezer.

Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG
Ideal for pairing with your quality video sources, the NR1710 is compatible with an extensive range of formats. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, Dolby, HLG and HDCP 2.2, which means you can play UHD Blu-ray discs and stream UltraHD video in the highest quality. The HDMI sockets allow 4K pass-through, for hassle free switching and viewing without the receiver needing to be on.

Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, DLNA and built-in wi-fi for the complete networking experience
With both Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 connectivity, it's easy to connect all your smartphones, tablets and compatible lap/desktops and stream music wirelessly. The NR1710 also comes with wi-fi, Internet radio and DLNA. Simply connect to your home network via Ethernet or wi-fi and access thousands of Internet radio sites via vTuner as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect Premium Spotify account required). DLNA compatibility lets you stream from other sources such as your laptop or NAS drive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good with a couple of flaws I bought this just over a month ago ans waited to review. Build quality is good except for rubbish quality plastic speaker wire retainers which feel so flimsy I expect they would break if over tightened. Also, adjusting volume with the remote is painful. I timed it at over a minute to go from zero to a level I wanted to listen at (not loud, just normal listening level). Apart from that, it's good and solid. Sound quality is a bit of a disappointment if I am honest. I replaced my Yamaha YSP-2500 soundbar & Sub woofer with this, and now wish I had listened to the Marantz (or any other AV Amp) before buying. I now realise that a good quality sound bar is just as good as any AV amp, and although many will disagree with that, I have listened to the Marantz and the Yamaha side by side and honestly prefer the sound of the Yamaha sound bar. Don't get me wrong - when new, the sound was disappointing - speech was muffled and volume needed to be higher than I wanted to actually hear things, but as the speakers settled in, sound improved and is now very good quality, regardless of source or material (music included), but as previously mentioned, the Yamaha sound bar does everything just as well, takes up less space and has more features, such as preset sound options for cinema, music and so on. Now that I am more aqainted with the Marantz, I am not in any way unhappy with it , I just (in hindsight) feel that I spent £1000 (including speakers) on a system which is no better a sound than what I had. My advice therefore would be that before spending a fortune on a full surround AV amp and speakers, don't rule out a good quality sound bar and sub-woofer setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect replacement for Yamaha E-800 I have been using a Yamaha E-800, in conjunction with my cd/vinyl set up for well over 15 years. The Yamaha was used to drive the centre and rear speakers to create a 5.1 system for TV, DVD,DVDA and SACD playback. The main drawback, causing the replacement of the Yamaha, was the absence of hdmi connections. Putting it simply, it needed updating after giving great service over many years. The replacement amplifier/receiver needed to have pre out connections so that I could continue to integrate my Audionote stereo system drive the front speakers. The main contenders were the NR 1710, the Yamaha V685, and the Onkyo TXNR 696. After careful consideration, and the great offer from Matt at Richer Sounds, Prestwich to audition the new amp for 14 days at home and a free exchange if I wasn't happy, I opted for the Marantz NR 1710. Needless to say I have not been at all disappointed with all aspects of the 1710. The setup was a little fussy and it has taken a few days to ensure that all the connections were correctly in place to optimise all the features of the 1710. The main consideration was quality of the stereo and surround sound from system. The TV picture and sound from the Virgin Media Tivo box is truly excellent. The 4K picture via hdmi arc connection makes a huge difference. The sound and picture from the dvda discs is greatly enhanced, however my DVD player will only allow stereo sound from my few sacd discs. The 1710 will play all my music files mp3, flac, 96/24 192/24, and multi channel. In short, I am very impressed with the 1710 and it is more than powerful enough to fill my living room with quality sound. A great replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great sound and easy to set up having experienced Marantz products before i was confident in my purchase. the sound has been excellent. its really easy to operate too. the set up guide is detailed and ensures you cant fail to get the system connected and configured. i like this model as its relatively small compared to other receivers. it looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so great Bought this Marantz NR1710 on the strength of a number of reviews, and also my experience with a PM6005 power amp. I wanted to something to replace both the PM6005 and also an old Yamaha AVR - and so far I'm very impressed with the NR1710. Musically it pretty much matches the stand alone PM6005 and pairs well with my Q Acoustic 3050i, whilst the upgrade in processing for AV relative to the Yamaha is massive - wow, what a difference and I didn't think the Yamaha was poor in any way. For surround purposes I'm using a mix of Q Acoustic 3090Ci centre and some old Mordaunt-Short Alumni bookshelves at the back. If you're looking for a low-mid priced receiver that does pretty much everything available today (AirPlay, Alexa and other voice apps, most of the current Dolby formats including Atmos) then this would be a great place to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up Easy to set up straight out the box Nice sound loads of practical options when setting up ie can be set up as 5.1 or 7.1 Atmos or not Atmos etc HDMI Arc control allows TV remote to do volume control from start up neat and discrete ample power for a regular living room set up only downside you need to download the full manual from Marantz web site which gives you more detailed information on options worth reading if you are considering this AV to see if it does what you want it to do

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent amp frrom Marantz Great amp. I chose this amp as i wanted several features - great sound, pre outs, video upscaling, bluetooth headphones. I was a bit worried it wouldnt be powerful enough, but my setup is probably a bit different to most. I have a larger stereo amp that drives two large in wall speakers. The stereo amp (Rega) has my music sources connected to it. The Marantz left and right pre-outs go to the Rega and i also use the sub pre out, with the rest of the Marantz channels running my centre and surrounds. I have a dedicated room for all of this - about 5m by 4m. The amp is plenty loud enough for that sized room - but remember I'm using another amp for left and right channels. The sound quality of the whole setup is great. I run my video sources into the Marantz and have 1 hdmi to a projector. Interestingly, the HDMI can drive a good picture over a 10m length of cable. Thats quite impressive. I have a fire stick in the back of the Marantz, and also Sky Q. I have a 4k projector and the picture is great across all sources. All in all, I am very happy. I've always loved Marantz for an in-your-face sound and it doesn't disappoint. I leave my Rega to cover stereo music. Def worth an audition if you have a medium sized room and you don't need to shake the house apart when watching a movie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent piece of equipment better than expected I bought this shortly after Christmas and really did not appreciate the quality from my old Amp to the new everything is so much clearer with a lot of definition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was after! Extremely happy with the NR1710 that I purchased to replace my fantastic but somewhat temperamental Meridian G95. Although you could argue it is a step backwards, the NR1710 has done nothing but impress! The sound quality is great and all the additional features meant I have been able to scale back on the number of devices in my system. Works great as a stereo amplifier too, especially with the ability to setup bi-amplification or the front channels if running a 5.1 setup. I’d recommend this to anyone with space constraints who doesn’t want to sacrifice on quality.
