As one of the final projects that audio legend, Ken Ishiwata, worked on, this Rotel amplifier is a true tribute to one of the hi-fi greats. Featuring upgrades, including improved capacitors, to the pre-amp and volume stage, the A11 Tribute delivers improved precision and accuracy. Modifications to the damping in the casing reduces distortion, giving an even more lifelike sound.
An impressive starting point
As the basis for a tuning project, the Rotel A11 was always a great place to start. Developed from the higher specification A14, the A11 model has a custom designed toroidal power supply at its heart, for smooth, dynamic power. The discrete output stage uses quality components for low distortion. A built-in Burr-Brown DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) gives exceptional resolution from your Bluetooth streaming sources.
Wireless connectivity
With a Bluetooth receiver built-in, you can stream music from your smartphone, tablet or other compatible device, wirelessly. Compatible with aptX and AAC, it’s a high quality device that lets you stream music to a high quality standard – perfect for premium versions of your favourite music streaming service.
High connectivity
As well as Bluetooth, the A11 Tribute has a wide range of wired connectivity. There’s a phono input for a turntable with MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge, four line level inputs and a pre output for adding a larger power amp. More unusually, there are also RS232, external remote and 12-volt trigger sockets, all of which lend themselves to multi-room home entertainment applications.

A wide range of features includes two sets of speaker outputs, dimmable display and a headphone socket.
Adjustable tone modes
As well as the usual bass and treble controls, the Rotel A11 tribute features dedicated tone modes. ‘Rotel Max’ is designed to help ‘fill out’ smaller speakers by offering a low frequency boost. If you’re using smaller speakers in a larger room, this can be a handy setting. ‘Rotel Boost’ delivers a unique blend of characteristics for a more forceful sound. It’s perfect for parties or any other time when you want your music to have more presence.

SUPERB AMP AND CD PLAYER!
Having owned a Cambridge Topaz amp and Topaz CD player (also from Richer Sounds) for more than 10+ years I decided it was time for an upgrade. I'. very pleased with my new Rotel Tribute Amp + CD player. It is without doubt the best sounding Hi-FI system I've owned spanning over last 30 odd years! I would highly recommend this system if you are looking for an excellent sound at a very affordable price.

Sounds strangled with warmer speakers.
I bought this to replace my Arcam 8R (recapped) which had shorted main output transistors. Was not impressed with the sound initially - I repaired the Arcam eventually and when I tested against the Rotel, it went back into its box as a 'spare'.
Out of curiosity, I unboxed the Rotel again for a test - found the sound to be 'strangled' against the Arcam, and was about to box it again when the Arcam finally died (keeps blowing the internal fuse).
I then tested the pre-amp part of the Rotel with an old Arcam 8P power amp (also recapped) - it works quite well as a pre-amp and the sound via the 8P was far more alive than through the Rotel's speaker outputs.
I checked the sound via the headphone socket on both, and again found far more life with the Arcam.
I would describe the sound of the Rotel as muffled, even strangled and pretty lifeless when compared to the old Arcam(s), with my Evo speakers
Speakers are Wharfedale Evo 4.1 (which can be quite 'dry') and a pair of old Ruark Sabre speakers that I have changed the drive units and crossover in, which are a lot brighter. The Arcams on the Evos were far better than on the Rotel, but the older speakers do have 'some' life on the Rotel, but still restrained.
I do not know if there is a fault or the amplifier is no suited to warmer speakers, as YouTube reviews are favourable, but there is one Crutchfield (US based store) that found the same.

Excellent upgrade
I've had the Rotel A11 tribute a few weeks now and I can't get enough of it. It makes my vinyl sound crisper on my rega planar 2.
The Bluetooth option is also great, music from any device, easy set up and looks great.
Remote covers everything, so I can sit in my favorite listening position and control all fields.
Didn't think it could get any better, then I bought some JBL stage A170 floor standers from Richer sounds ( great deal for vip members) and it took the sound to a new level. Sounds awesome.
Now I just have to find time to trawl through all of my vinyl .
