Enjoy genuine hi-fi sound quality but demand discreet style? Then take a look at the ground-breaking Cambridge Audio Minx system!

If you're in any doubt about the quality of this system then take a look at what the reviewers have been saying. "Well, Bose is about to get a sound thrashing from the British boys at Cambridge Audio, whose brand-new Minx is even smaller than Acoustimass - especially the subwoofer - and simply better. Much, much better." Jonathan Margolis, Financial Times. And, "To say we were impressed is a gross understatement." T3

Small yet mighty

It may be the smallest in the family of Minx subs but don't underestimate the power of the X200! Like the other Minx subs, the X201 uses unique Cambridge technology to produce a bass response that is both powerful and tuneful. At the heart of the X201 beats Cambridge Audio's sophisticated DSP (Digital Signal Processor). When combined with the digital amplifier, this provides exceptional bass from what is one of the world's smallest subwoofers. To maximise this advantage the bass cones are constructed of one-piece, aerospace grade aluminium.

One powered, two passive cones
Configured with a single, powered cone and twin passive cones, the X201 uses technology not before available at this price. Compared to the more conventional bass ports, you get a greatly enhanced bass response with far more detail and control. Although small, the X201 packs a mighty 200W from its active amplifier and offers gain, phase and crossover control for full control and integration with a complete Minx system.

Finished in special, scratch-resistant, premium automotive gloss black paint, the X201 is the perfect match for most hi-fi, home cinema and TV systems. Prepare to be impressed!

CAMBRIDGE AUDIO MINX X201 is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 63.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but Requires very careful placement. I bought the X201 to add to a cambridge audio one system for use in a conservatory. I found that the unit requires very careful positioning away from corners or walls which doesn't leave many options, otherwise it will tend to boom. Some of the lower frequencies are also missing (below 40Hz). Maybe these are due to the size of the room and size of the sub, so the sub could sound better in a slightly larger room. So at the end of the day I have had to find the best compromise in terms of position and sound, which isn't the best in terms of sound quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Great sound from such a small unit. High quality build. The bass may be a bit subtle for some music genre but for TV etc perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size Doesn't Matter This little Minx can certainly pack a punch or two. It's small and compact yet can shake the plaster off the walls. After my Boston Sub went faulty I decided to add this Cambridge sub to my 5.1 system. It's fantastic for adding that bit of depth to TV programmes but it comes into its own when watching acton movies. It's has great flexibility allowing you to change the output and cross over, giving you complate control of what you and more importantly your neighbours hear. It's unobtrusive in the room and it's stylish looks makes the Minx an ideal addition to any sound system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel the Bass I bought the subwoofer to replace a less expensive unit that was working ok but was not giving the depth of bass I felt my 7.1 surround system needed. The unit had to fit into quite a small space and I did not want to compromise on the sound quality, this unit ticked both boxes. It produces a very good bass that can actually be felt when delivering big sound events, explosions, waterfalls, etc. at the same time as enriching the normal sound levels with clear deep tones. I am very pleased with the subwoofer and happy to recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, hide-able sub The Service. Easy to purchase on line with excellent communication and fast delivery; the Sub was well boxed and effortless to set up. The situation. Owing to my irrational desire to remain happily married I have had to trade-in my floor standing speakers for stand mounts, and now my stand mounts for teeny tiny bookshelf units. Fortunately my pre/power amp setup has a second pre-out so an active subwoofer was the easy solution. The Product The little Minx is an ideal solution for my set-up. It really is tiny, so much so that it fits invisibly under my sofa. So unobtrusive is it that it took a while for my better half to spot it, but you can certainly hear it! It took a bit of twiddling before I was happy with the cut-off and volume, but now it's dialed-in it's added the depth and warmth that was missing. Really lovely for music at neighbour-friendly levels and it certainly goes deep, but I'm not convinced it would have the grunt for high impact bass in a home cinema system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Far less powerful than other cheaper options I have both a tannoy SFX5.1 and this X201. The tannoy at a 1/3 of the price far out performs this sub. If its chest thumping bass your after, I do not recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small box masive sound. I spent a lot of time reading reviews for subwoofers. Finally I needed to listen to this Cambridge Audio unit to make sure it was what I wanted. The staff in the Maidstone store were really helpful in setting up a demo for me. They changed the speakers in their demo room to be similar to those I have at home, this gave a very good idea of the effect I would get. They let me play my own music so I could compare to what I was used to hearing. This subwoofer really added the extra richness I was looking for to the lower tone levels in my music. One of my additional requirements was I didn’t what to have a large imposing box in my front room, this is amazingly small for a 200kW subwoofer and tucks away nicely. Generally I want the extra fullness of sound from my music but if I’m in the mood for music that needs to thump around the whole room this small box is more than capable of providing it.
