The same facility also lets you pause live TV, while twin tuners let you watch a different channel to the one you're recording or record two channels at the same time! As you'd expect, there's an easy to use 8-day onscreen guide.

Connection options
With HDMI, SCART and composite outputs, the Humax HDR-1800T will connect to just about any TV. Want to plug the HDR-1800T through your hi-fi or home cinema? It's simple via its RCA phono and optical digital outputs. A USB socket allows you to plug in external hard drives or memory sticks and playback your saved media. With the Ethernet socket you can also plug the HDR-1800T into your home network and take advantage of network updates and web apps.

Humax TV Portal
Connect up to the internet via Ethernet or an optional USB dongle and you'll be able to access the Humax TV Portal. This provides a range of services, including the popular BBC iPlayer and YouTube, plus internet radio.

Compact too
At just 320mm wide, this set-top box is compact and unobtrusive. Humax has also put a lot of effort into making it easy to use. A simple search function makes it simple to find the programme you're after, while the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) is a model of clarity and very straight forward to follow.

Fully comprehensive yet easy to use, the Humax HDR-1800T is the ideal introduction to subscription-free HD TV.

HUMAX HDR1800T 320GB is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 93.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good in the important areas You get a good deal for the price. Picture quality watching live TV indistinguishable from my Samsung TV. Recorded playback just as good with maybe the occasional very slight jump. Rewind / Forward / Pause / Play operation does quite often cause a click or splat on the audio output. The interface for Freeview info, setting and replaying recordings is good, with a good text search. I had to buy a "Lindy CEC-less HDMI adapter" to fit in the HDMI output because the Humax implementation of the "Consumer Electronics Channel" seems dodgy. It stopped the linked remote control of my TV and AV receiver and made the Audio Return Channel unreliable. With the adapter, all was good. Annoyances are the lack of slow motion replay, and a time display that only shows to the nearest minute. And the silly front panel light which shows Blue for ON, Red for Standby, but also Red for Record.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gift purchase Purchased as a gift having been a happy Humax customer for some years. The service and delivery from Richer Sounds are second to none.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but remote could be better quality. All the usual Humax features, great program guide and excellent performance but the remote feels a bit cheap, which is a shame. Otherwise would have awarded 5 stars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good It's smaller than my last one , but it looks nice, I only use it to record programs, it's been very good, and being an older lady I managed to fix it in and it tuned in easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine Bought to replace an old, similar but non-HD Humax recorder. Excellent picture quality and all the features I am used to. Used as a second recorder in bedroom which I why I only bought the 320GB version and is working perfectly to date (I hope that's not the kiss of death!). I fully recommend this recorder.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good an experience as I'd hoped, so far. Had a Humax 9200 model for ages, with no problems. Then the hard drive failed & wouldn't reformat. That lost everything I'd recorded and wanted to keep. The 9200 is no longer made, so I bought an 1800T as nearest alternative in price. I'm not fussed about a 320gb HD. Far larger than I need. As I found out recently, the more you have on it, the more you lose when it fails. Sadly, Humax have dropped a few useful features, incl "picture in picture" & the ability to fast forward recorded material while it's playing. A USB port on the back of the machine, while there's a blank port on the front of the case marked USB also seems perverse. The rest is basically identical to my old 9200. Set up was quick & familiar, but on first use, all major channels suffered from picture stutter every 10 secs or so. Didn't affect recordings or HD channels. Re-loading all channels sorted this for a few days. Now it's just BBC that's affected. Might be returning this to the shop.
