Powerful bass, produced in the digital domain; the Q Acoustics 2070Si subwoofer breaks new ground at this price level.

Digital Signal Processing

Marking this subwoofer out from its rivals is it's completely Digital Signal Processing (DSP) driven system with efficient Class D amplification. So, like much more expensive subwoofers, the 2070i carries out all its filtering and limiting functions in the digital domain. This not only gives superior sonic performance through greater precision but also enhanced flexibility and adjustment.

Twin cones for added punch
Rather than using one large cone, the 2070Si uses two, smaller cones. This has the advantage of offering the same surface area as a larger cone, so giving you depth and rumble, but also improved speed of bass. Smaller twin cones can move faster and therefore offer a punchier sound with more accurate timing. Thanks to the built-in 150W digital amplifier, power and control are never an issue, either.

Function control an quality construction
The 2070Si features speaker type function control. This lets you optimise the performance of the subwoofer as to whether you're using bass reflex (ported) or infinite baffle (sealed) speakers. And as well as sounding better than most subs at this price, the Q 2070i is also better finished, with flush-mounted drive units and curved edges for beautiful aesthetics and distortion-free sound.

Whatever speakers you might have, such is the flexibility of the 2070Si that it's one of the most talented subwoofers in class - deeply impressive!

Q ACOUSTICS 2070Si is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great subwoofer My old subwoofer was 15 years old and finally failed. I saw the 2070Si and thought it looked a bargain for what it offered. I wasn't disappointed. Not only has time moved on and equipment improved, but the overall performance is stunning, without dominating. A little bit of tweaking and I soon has this sub matched to my surround system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bass Fast, punchy bass, exactly what I wanted. I have this paired with 2 pairs of q acoustics 2050i as fronts and rears, which produce more than enough bass on their own, this sub was just to give me that little bit more punch when it was required. This WILL shake your room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boomity, boom. No level of expertise, but sounds bleedin great to me. Transformed my stereo set up in a big room (60sq m). Dimensions are useful, being long and (relatively) thin compared to cube shaped subwoofers means it fits away a bit more discretely. Price and service exemplary as usual. Happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Was it worth it My previous equipment was your average 5.1 surround sound complete with DVD player. This subwoofer just gives the viewing and listening experience a massive boost. I have it connected to a Yamaha RXV381 also bought through richer sounds. Just one thing to bere in mind this isn't a small unit but definitely looks the part !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Q Acoustics 2070Si (subwoofer) Well packaged in big very strong box. Looks and feels very well build and finished. Weight buiids confidence. Contains spikes+covers, 90° RCA adaptors, UK and European power lead and 2 CDs. Great shape and design. It is not small but the narrow width makes it much easier to hide than the usual cubes. It found it's natural place at a corner behind an armchair. Removable lid over connections with bottom hole for cables is a nice touch and something not clearly identified in reviews or shown in pics. More than adequately powerful, easily fills my medium sized living room (at 1/4-1/3 volume). Bass quantity and quality, with control and speed and reaches frequencies I was not expecting (frequency response impossible to find). Mutiple controls make it a very adjustable and flexible. But could be overwhelming for some and manual is not the easiest to follow. And I wish I knew, is it 140 or 150 WRMS? Does all it is supposed to do, well. Great value for money, recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second one I already have one of these in piano black for my main system. I just added this one in matt black for my second system. Very, very good with music and quite easy to set up if you're patient and willing to experiment a lot with room position until it all sounds just right (as with any sub). You do pay more for the piano black finsh yet it does sound just the same as matt, but where the finish matters it's worth it. Don't overdo the bass, just let it complement your main speakers and it will add that missing depth to your music. You can of course crank it up to shake the room for films and it does that too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up, excellent performance An excellent sub-woofer, easy to set up with detailed instruction manual. A little tricky to position, as with most sub-woofers, to get the best spot. Very powerful, responsive bass. An excellent choice. Bought as part of a package with 4 x 2010i speakers and a central 2000i. We are very pleased with the set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Low End From This Well Priced Sub I'm a bass player, so accurate and musical low end matters to me. At this price, I'm giving the Q Acoustics 2070i Sub five stars. I'm using a NAD D3020 digital amp and Q Acoustics 7000LRi speakers teamed with the Q Acoustics 2070i sub to play back audio from my desktop iMac. This system is delivering quite remarkable audio especially the precise, balanced low end delivered by the 2070i sub. I notice another reviewer has commented on a 'muddy and mumbling' sound and yet another that 'quality of the bass coming from the subwoofer is probably below average'. Well, I don't agree. I'm achieving a quite extraordinary and most musical low end from this sub that is nicely balanced with the output from the 7000i speakers. It simply took an hour or so to achieve this using various source material to adjust the crossover and level controls to best potential. A great sub and I'm delighted with the purchase.
