Bring the 'thunder' of the cinema home, with the Yamaha NS-SW050.

Twisted Flare Port for a clearer, tighter bass

The Yamaha NSSW050 uses a revolutionary new design of bass port for a more natural, less distorted sound. Rather than using straight sides, this Yamaha's port is twisted and flared to smooth and diffuse the air output. This reduces distortion, giving you a tighter, cleaner bass response that's much truer to life.

Powerful sound
Driving the dedicated eight inch sub is a powerful 50W amplifier. This not only produces a deep, powerful bass but also gives precise control of the bass - meaning it doesn't distract from the rest of the music/soundtrack.

Incorporating Yamaha's renowned YST II for bass depth
Providing Yamaha speaker systems with awesome bass for decades now, YST II (Yamaha Active Servo Technology) optimises the output to give not only a powerful bass response but also one that's stable and accurate. In short, its powerful bass without the flab.

Smooth design
Featuring a deeply sculptured grille, the NS-SW050 looks less boxy than your usual subwoofer. The matte black finish makes the ideal match for most home cinema amps and sources.

The perfect partner for a wide range of speaker systems, the Yamaha NS-SW050 packs a smooth punch.

YAMAHA NSSW050 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well impressed I had a set of Tannoy SFx 5.1 speakers, unfortunately the sub woofer decided to give up the ghost. Looked on here for a sub woofer and kept coming back to this one. Considered the deal they have for a full set of Denon 5.1 speakers for £149 but eventually decided that i liked the look of this and thought i would give it a go with the remaining tannoy small speakers i have. Anyway, bought it yesterday and came home, set it up and sat back to try it out. I can only say that i am so impressed with it that it makes everything sound so much better. I usually have my amp turned up to 20 when sitting watching TV or listening to music, later at night maybe turn music down to about 16 so as not to annoy the neighbours. Had to turn it down to 10 last night, yet the music sounded more full, sweeter and even the wife who i think takes great pleasure in usually saying, nahh, i cant hear any difference, had to admit that it sounded so much better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely audible low bass Bought this after listening to music and realising that I was missing out on a fairly important part of the experience - bass. I have a small "midi" style system in one room (Panasonic SA-DP1) which is very good, much better than it's small speakers (about 9 cm or about 3.5 inches) would suggest, but of course you can't cheat physics and so it can't reproduce lower bass frequencies at an adequate volume. It does have a sub output port, a line-level connection for which the subwoofer was bought. Well, what a change! To be able to hear deep bass at moderate listening level is brilliant. There is a dedicated volume knob on the back of the sub to "set the level" as it were, whilst the overall volume is controlled by the stereo itself. This is good as it means if the stereo is being used at low volume, the sub can still be turned up a bit to your own liking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice sound. Does not match specifications advertised. This sub produces admirable bass for the price. The enclosure is easy on the eye and discreet. Check the specifications on the Yamaha website before purchase. Richer sounds have not listed it properly here. It does not seem to have auto power on/off. There is no mention of it anywhere except for in the product listing on this site. If it is a deal breaker look at another sub.
