Featuring a built-in PVR (Personal Video Recorder), you can record up to 500 hours of standard definition TV or up to 250 hours HD TV. With a suitable dish (wideband LNB), you can record up to four programmes simultaneously or watch one while recording three others. The built-in hard drive also allows for additional functionality, such as pausing and rewinding live TV – perfect for pausing TV to make a drink, or replaying a crucial TV moment.

Great product works a treat
It does what is says on the tin . You can view live tv or record it. The best part is that the box automatically sets itself up when you switch it on. Previously I had bought a cheap and nasty box elsewhere which required me to select all sorts of technical settings with poor instuctions

A very glitchy unfinished product.
I bought this in July 2023 to replace my Sky box, which it does but is nowhere as good. It feels like an unfinished product still in its development stages and has become increasingly glitchy as time goes on often requiring turning off and on again at the wall to get it working again.
Plus side:
Very good picture image if you’re prepared to spend enough time fiddling with your tv settings and ignore the boxes 4k setting with its overblown colour palette.
Negative side:
Impossible to sync the sound to the picture without going through my soundbar’s input then it’s output to the tv (both Samsung)
Always displays a message saying ‘setting up your dish’ every time you turn it on from standby, taking 20/30 seconds to come on (the Freeview helpline say this is normal!)
There are many playback issues:
Every time you play back a recording it ‘stammers’, repeating the first couple of seconds over again before continuing.
Sometimes starts playing a recording only to revert back to the tv channel so you have to go back through the menu and start again. Occasionally it skips a few seconds of playback, very obviously during on screen conversations.
Glitches that can only be resolved by turning it on and off at the wall:
No sound output.
Displays either a blank orange screen showing channel detail only . Displays a blank purple or pink screen.
It even turned on the ‘audio description’ on its own without anyone going into the menu system!
Maybe I’ve been unlucky and got a dodgy box and technically it ‘works’… but is by far the worst bit of a/v equipment I’ve ever bought and I’ve been into tv and home cinema for years.

I bought a Freesat box from Richer sounds last month. Excellent advice and service. Replaced my Humax box, also bought from Richer Sounds 10 years ago, when service just as good.

Great staff with great knowledge
I bought a new Freesat box yesterday from
Richer Sounds, I have bought several things there
from them over the years and I always find
the staff really friendly and knowledgeable.
I especially like the idea of the 6 year
guarantee that you get free with some
products or you can purchase for a
reasonable cost and this gives you piece of
mind in case of a problem.
I would definitely recommend
Richer Sounds to everyone.

Getting our TV back to normal
The Freesat Humax box I have had for a number of years gave up the ghost so I contacted Reigate Richer Sounds who advised me and I got a replacement Freesat recorder. The box arrived, as promised the next day and I have been pleased with the results once I had overcome my terror of following instructions. It all worked with no problem.
