MusicCast for music all around your home
The Yamaha WXA50 is part of Yamaha's hugely impressive network audio system, MusicCast. With MusicCast you can control all your compatible Yamaha MusicCast products via your smartphone or tablet. Play the same music on all the components or split the sound into different zones for different moods in each room; the choice is yours. The MusicCast CONTROLLER app also lets you operate the speaker and change settings quickly and easily.
Wi-Fi with Spotify and AirPlay
Connect via Ethernet or wi-fi to your home network and gain access to a whole new world of entertainment. From here you'll be able to access a massive range of Internet radio stations plus music services such as the hugely popular Spotify and Naspter. Also standard is AirPlay, making it easier than ever to stream from your Apple iOS devices.
Stream music from your mobile with Bluetooth
With a Bluetooth receiver built in, it's easy to enjoy your music from other devices. Pair with your smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC and wirelessly stream all your favourite music. With the possibility of streaming music services, such as Spotify Premium, Deezer and Tidal, as well as your own music library, you get access to near unlimited music!
Compatible with High Resolution music files
The Yamaha WXA50 makes a superb choice for listening to your High Resolution music files. It's compatible with WAV/FLAC 192kHz/24-bit, Apple Lossless 96kHz/24-bit, DSD 5.6MHz and even the new AIFF 192kHz/24-bit formats. Using a high quality ESS DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor), the sound is sensationally detailed.
It might be small, but the WXA50 uses a 55 watt amplifier and powerful processing to great effect. If you're listening to compressed music files from an MP3 player or smartphone, Compressed Music Enhancer enhances the frequency response for a brighter, more open sound. The clever volume-adaptive feature automatically adjusts the bass and treble levels in line with the volume. Advanced bass extension gives a deeper bass that's ideal for when matching with smaller speakers. Finally, if you'd rather hear the music exactly as the producer intended, Direct Mode bypasses all processing for the purest sound possible.
Wire it in with USB, optical or RCA phono
As well as the wide range of wireless connectivity, the WXA50 also features a USB interface plus optical and RCA phono inputs. The USB socket is ideal for USB stick devices while the phono inputs let you hook up a traditional Hi-Fi source such as a CD player or turntable with built-in pre-amp. The optical input is ideal for connecting your TV or Blu-ray/DVD player.
Compact and stylish
More router than conventional amplifier-sized, the WXA-50 can easily be accommodated; it can even be turned on its side for really tight spaces. The rigid casework is made to Yamaha's usual high standards and, with 1U rack mounting capability, ideal for professional use.
For one of the finest and most flexible music streaming systems around, just add speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mikk k from Good sound, straightforward Paired with q acoustic 3010i and owned for a month . I wanted an all in one streamer, dac and amp to listen to spotify connect mostly and am happy with this system. It sleeps in the background, still shows up in spotify connect then activates itself and returns to stand by, for me this simplicity is important and is very convenient. It is always hard to review the sound, this system is not high end hifi audio quality but sound seems fair for the price bracket. Be aware that the digital enhancer is set on by default, as is auto equalisation which to my ear muddled the sound, when turned off with some manual fixed equalisation and with the bass extension on i found the best balance between keeping natural sound and engaging listening. I need to listen at relatively low volume so this is also a factor in choice of settings. It does run pretty hot when on as other reviews state but i assume (hope) that as this is a known issue that I need not be concerned. I

Rated 5 out of 5 by djones86 from fantastic addition to the Yamaha range I had to purchase 7 of these amps for a customer who wanted to be able to separate different zones throughout the property. Needless to say once again richer sounds pulled it out the bag for our customer. Using Yamaha is a brilliant way to ensure quality sound and versatility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Yameyo from Brilliant all in one. Fantastic little amp and streamer that takes up next to no space. App is easy to use and the unit supports a wide range of inputs, so I'm using this both for listening to music streamed from various sources and for playback of TV/DVD audio. Much cheaper than buying separate components to achieve the same result.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hedgehog9000 from Save Yourself The Trouble Yamaha sell their Musiccast app and system as being intuitive and easy to use. We bought this unit to use as the central hub of a networked music system for our house (a WXA50 in the lounge, and 3 WX010 speakers throughout the rest of the house). I've had the unit for about two weeks, and I estimate I have now spent 14 hours troubleshooting, searching online for solutions, reseting the unit, reinstalling the app, resetting our router, resetting each individual speaker, all to no avail. The unit frequently fails to connect with a) my home music files stored as a server, and b) any of the other speakers in the house. If it does connect to 1 of the 3 WX010 speakers, that speaker is then unable to connect to any of the others thereafter via the app. As we have a USB also plugged into the WXA50, this means it will not stream either our computer or USB files to any of the other speakers. There's an 80% chance upon opening the app that it will say the WXA50 cannot be found, and I will then need to spend a good hour resetting all devices until it appears again. On the off chance that it does find the unit, it won't work with the wider system of speakers. One of the points I have found online is that Yamaha do not mention anywhere that this device does not work well with 5GHZ broadband. It frequently connects to 5G via our router, whilst the WX010's all seem to connect via 2Ghz. I have manually gone into my router and reprogrammed it to only cast on 2Ghz. This seemed to fix it for a week, but it is now back to malfunctioning on the daily. Save yourself the trouble and go for a different system, or a directly wired home audio sytem. It's a real shame, as - paired with Cambridge Minx XL speakers - it sounds excellent. It's just unuseable as a home music streaming system.
