Sleek new aesthetics, dynamic sound and the latest connectivity, give the Yamaha RX-A2A AV receiver huge appeal.

Aventage quality
This Aventage AV receiver boasts exceptional construction quality. Anti-Resonance Technology (ART) makes this AVR exceptionally resistant to mechanical and electrical interference. ART encompasses a more rigid chassis, anti-vibration construction and even a fifth damping foot, helping give the RX-A2A its superb detail and resolution. With a punchy 100 watts of power (at 8 ohms), the RXA2A is powerful enough for larger rooms and all speaker types.

High Slew Rate Amplifier for dynamic sound
High Slew Rate amplifiers are difficult to implement, but when engineered with Yamaha’s usual thoroughness, achieve superb results. Especially suitable for Hi-res audio sources, the RX-A2A’s amp provides a crisp, dynamic sound.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for three-dimensional sound
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X use ceiling or up-firing speakers for three-dimensional and fully immersive sound. Whether it’s rain falling in a tropical jungle or the intense sound of overhead gunfire, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X put you in the centre of the action. DTS Neural:X offers an even more immersive sound, with a heightened sense of realism.

Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization for extra height, without the speakers*
As impressive as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound, it’s not always possible to accommodate the extra speakers. Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization technology goes some way to help. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers to deliver an enhanced sound. *via firmware update.

Compatible with the next generation of high resolution – 8K*
Featuring a trio of 8K compliant HDMI inputs and matching output, this Yamaha AVR is ready for the next generation of TV. If you’ve not yet made the jump to 8K TV, the sockets also handles up to 4K/120Hz signals, for the highest quality pass through. Upscaling to UHD 4K is also standard. *via firmware update.

Supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+*
Using a 7/1 (in/out) HDMI interface, the RX-A2A supports your full system. It also supports a wide range of High Dynamic Range video formats. These include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances picture realism by sending dynamic Meta data to your TV. *via firmware update.

Game on*
The latest HDMI support also marks a big improvement in gaming. 4K/120Hz and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support maximise resolution and clarity. Quick Frame Transport (QFT) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) help eliminate lag and frame tearing, giving you a smoother, more responsive gaming experience. *via firmware update.

Surround sound, untied
For an easy way to reduce cabling, the RX-A2A offers the option of wireless rear speakers. Combine this receiver with the Yamaha MusicCast 20 or MusicCast 50 speakers and you can leave aside speaker cable connections. Perfect if you have a solid floor and struggle to hide speaker cable or if you simply want a cleaner style, wireless surround speakers cut down on the clutter.

Connect more – including a turntable
As well as seven HDMI inputs, this Yamaha AVR also has a wide range of other AV connectivity. Optical coaxial digital inputs are ideal for connecting older devices or upgrading the sound from a compatible CD/Network player. Three analogue inputs are perfect for Hi-Fi components, with the dedicated MM phono input perfect for plugging in a turntable. The Zone 2 output gives you the option of adding a second pair of speakers in another room.

MusicCast for music all around your home
The Yamaha RX-A2A is part of Yamaha's hugely impressive network audio system, MusicCast. With MusicCast you control all your compatible Yamaha MusicCast products via your smartphone or even Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant by voice*. Play the same music on all the components or split the sound into different zones for different moods in each room; the choice is yours. The MusicCast CONTROLLER app lets you operate the system around your home and change settings quickly and easily. *requires third party Alexa or Google device.

Stream the best music services
Compatible with Amazon Music, Spotify Premium, Pandora, Napster, Tidal, Deezer and Qobuz, the RXA2A is fully equipped for your favourite music streaming service. With Tidal and Qobuz already offering higher resolution playback, it’s now possible to find a streaming service that at least matches the quality of CD and, in some cases, even improves upon it.

Advanced networking including Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth
As well as MusicCast, the RX-A2A is also compatible with Apple AirPlay 2, letting you stream music from your Apple iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or other compatible Apple device, wirelessly, around your home. Just ask Siri where you want the music to play. For a quick and easy connection with your smartphone, use the Bluetooth connection for easy music streaming.

Fresh new style
The latest Aventage series has a fresh new style. With its gloss black finish and sleek control panel, the RX-A2A has a less cluttered look than before, with a timeless minimalism.

Give your entire home cinema a lift, with the Yamaha RX-A2A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A quantum leap forward in technology After two weeks I can safely say I'm very pleased with my decision to go for the Yamaha A2A. I'd probably give it 4.5 rather than the full 5, but that's just because it's gone up in price since it launched. The feature set is astonishing and a enormous leap forward from my 20+ year old Sony AV Receiver. I can confirm the unit has DAB, unlike someone who said it didn't, but the BBC reception is non existent for some reason. However, I've discovered Net Radio for the first time on the Yamaha, and although it's 5-10 seconds behind the DAB broadcast, the quality is better and so far, doesn't drop out. And the Scene buttons, where you can save your favourite sources, including Net stations and initial volume level are a genius idea. Sound wise, I'm no expert, but the Yamaha is a good performer powering my old mission speakers, but my old Sony sounded so good, I'm not blown away by this. But I have nothing to compare it to, other than my TV speakers, which is demolishes! It also seems to be doing a good job of passing through HDMI video signals and receiving ARC signals back from my TV. I'm also loving the MusicCast app, which is a great second remote control for the amp and can even turn the until on/off. All in all, I'm very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did everything I wanted Performs very well indeed. I am using this with 5 mid-sized bookshelf 8 ohm speakers and a subwoofer. After over 2 hours of movie watching the RX-A2A was still running cool, not hot at all. I have everything plugged into my TV with the RX-A2A plugged in over eARC. There is no lip-sync issues, no sound drop outs, it just all works very nicely. No issues with my Xbox or Blu-ray player. Switching between the TV speakers and the RX-A2A works as you would think. If you are not using the RX-A2A it will not automatically turn on when the TV does. If you are using it then it will. You can control the volume of the RX-A2A through the TV too, no need to use the remote after you have set it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Works very well, intuitive. It says it has DAB but its does not, only internet radio which is virtually the same

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clear sound Good clear sound with a nice choice of soundfields. Can be a bit fiddly to set up and use. The remote could have been more straight forward and would have benefitted with a backlight. I would still buy it again though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Sound Quality, Image and Configurability I acquired the Yamaha RX-A2A as a result of a warranty claim on a nearly out of warranty Onkyo TX-NR686 AVR with HDMI input problems. Richer Sounds were very helpful at every step of the way in dealing with this fault/warranty claim and I recommend their after sales support, which was superb, especially given the difficult circumstances around the availability of spares and equipment generally at this time. Its very easy to mistake the RX-A2A as very minor upgrade to the Yamaha RX-V6A, however, there are some differences which are not immediately obvious, even from the on-line technical specs provided by Yamaha on their own web site. Googling around I discovered the following main differences as described below. 1. The power supply for the RX-A2A has bigger main PSU electrolytics for DC smoothing and so the reserve power required for punchy low end dynamics is more available. Apparently the RX-V6A has 8200uF main electrolytics where as the RX-A2A has 10000uF main electrolytics. 2. The RX-A2A has a removable power cord, the RX-V6A does not. 3. The RX-A2A has a fifth foot, called and ART (Anti Resonance Technology) Wedge. This dampens physical bass feedback that my cause resonance to the mecahnical parts of the amplifier and resultd in improved bass performance (and I have noticed this, as compared to my old Onkyo 686). 4. A 'free' warranty of 5 years is available for the RX-A2A at no extra cost, from Yamaha. This compares to a 'free' warranty of 3 years for the RX-V6A. Make sure you register your amplifier at Yamaha. 5. The RX-A2A has provision for remote IR in and out to control items in a typical zone area, the RX-V6A does not. The advertised promised firmware updates are intended to add 8K capability to the first three of the HDMI inputs (8K60, 4K120, ALLM, VRR, OFT, QMS HDR10+) and will no doubt be great for gaming (with short HDMI leads !). Notably I found that I had HDMI-CEC connection issues with a Google Ultra Chromecast and a Amazon Fire TV Stick in HDMI ports 1 to 3, but they worked fine in ports 4,5,6 & 7. Make sure you do a factory reset of those streaming devices once connected to the AVR. The browser/web interface for configurability, is really useful, i.e. use something like 'http://192.168.1.123/setup', but with the IP address of your AVR. Note that some setup options are still only available on the remote control only. Be sure to setup the bass related settings correctly(sub-woofer, bass trim etc) its not quite like the 'out of the box' bass setup that I experienced with my old Onkyo. There's also a DTS Mode option for handling DTSHD-MA properly on some older Blu-Ray players, that don't support the DTS:X standard properly. The downloadable instruction manual does not quite explain it all. I had to use Google/You-Tube to understand some of the options and what they mean. Typically the manual for the Yamaha RX-V685 is more comprehensible, and explains options that are not described in the RX-A2A downloable user manual. All in all I am very pleased with this, the sound quality and image is excellent. I use the surround decoder on auto for all my multichannel audio inputs. Understandbly it takes a while to set it up properly, and I also fully expect that there will be firmware updates to iron out remianing bugs and provide the promised 8K capability. Clearly I have not explained everything here, but there lots more info becoming available on the internet, i.e. reddit, you tube etc .... If you have time I would recommend watching the you tube video - 'Yamaha Virtual Press Event for the RX-V and RX-A AV Receivers', here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_zVTki7FFg

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels like good value for money... but what do i k Replaced an acient Sony product I probably need to spend a few hours playing with the RXA2A to get the best from it ... I am 60 years old so I think the sound quality is far superior to my ear quality... thats all that matters really. But the sound is so good its the first time other members of the household in other parts of the building are complaining its too loud. To my ear both music reproduction and Movie soundtrack are perfect.. I dont do gaming A big step up from my Sony STR-DB940 I purchased before the war A much better match for my B&W 802s

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Latest tech! Fantastic for everyday Netflix watching. Fantastic for action packed 4K blockbusters. Very dynamic, great sound. Fantastic - one button - customisable scene settings (one click for surround movies, one click for music in stereo). Everything is adjustable. Plenty of settings. Superb for movies. Good on music. Instruction manual does not explain all. I had to use google to understand few options. Unit looks very solid. Nice and solid front knobs. Glossy front does not look cheap comparing to other receivers. Fantastic and affordable receiver for home cinema enthusiast!
