Make any Hi-Fi system a MusicCast system
Whether this is your first MusicCast component or an expansion to an existing system the WX-AD10 is the ideal way of making your current Hi-Fi part of the MusicCast family. Setting up is easy; simply plug the WX-AD10 into the AUX socket via the Yamaha’s 3.5mm mini-jack or RCA phonos, connect to the Internet and you’re good to go.
MusicCast for sound all around your home
The Yamaha WX-AD10 is part of Yamaha's hugely impressive network audio system, MusicCast. With MusicCast you can control all your compatible Yamaha MusicCast products via your smartphone or tablet. Play the same music on all the components or split the sound into different zones for different moods in each room; the choice is yours. The MusicCast CONTROLLER app also lets you operate the speaker and change settings quickly and easily.
Advanced networking including Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth
Built-in Apple AirPlay means that you can stream music from your Apple iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or other compatible Apple device, wirelessly. If you use another brand of smartphone or tablet then you've also got Bluetooth, for easy music streaming from your portable device.
Wi-Fi and DLNA for effortless streaming and Internet radio
Also standard with the WX-AD10 is Wi-Fi, giving easy connection to your home network. A DLNA certified connection makes streaming a breeze. You can access your stored music from PC, laptop or NAS drive and listen to Internet radio stations and music services such as Spotify Premium, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Napster.
Putting sound quality first
Using their own technology, Yamaha have produced an audio circuit that’s low in jitter and high in terms of its signal to noise ratio. This means you hear more detail and less distortion. Best of all, the improvements can be heard from all sources, including Bluetooth – making this one of the highest quality Bluetooth receivers available.
Hi-Res Audio playback
At the heart of the Yamaha's digital processing is a top quality Burr Brown DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). This not only provides a punchy and lifelike sound but also facilitates the playback of High Resolution audio formats. The WX-AD10 is compatible with a wide range of HD audio formats, including FLAC 192kHz-24-bit for exceptional sound quality.
Clavinova joins MusicCast
Unique to Yamaha is the ability to connect to your Clavinova digital piano and use it as a wireless speaker! If you fancy more involvement with your music then you can easily play along, as the music streams.
Join the streaming revolution, with the Yamaha WX-AD10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robertlb from A simple way to stream good sound Takes a little bit of setting up, connecting to wifi etc but then it's a doddle to use. Sound quality is not far off a cd on a good player. But all the stuff I don't have on cd I can now play through my best amp and speakers. Very worth the money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JohnThe1st from Pity about the app. This is a neat unit, easy to accommodate in most systems. So close to being a great way to enable older stereo/hi-fi systems to stream music. So close because it is badly let down by one of the worst apps ever. Setting up was a pain, but I stuck with it and eventually got it working. The app, MusicCast, is not 100% reliable occasionally just stopping. This seems to necessitate turning it off and back on again. MusicCast does not display the track/album information that is available from the streaming service. MusicCast does not support gapless play. Pity. Would have rated it higher but for the app.

Rated 5 out of 5 by aledbury from Decent little streamer Got this to stream to an old amp rather than as part of a house wide MusicCast setup. For both wireless and Bluetooth streaming it works a treat. Features Apple Airplay but not Airplay 2 though don’t know if this is a future firmware option. Pretty easy to setup once I’d temporarily turned off Wi-Fi extenders. Would highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by chandra28 from small in size and quality of sound is amazing use this with Rotel ra01 and denon speakers in bed room. Sound quality is amazing and it doesn't take up much space. got rid of cd player. Spend much more on Marant Streamer, now thinking may sell Marantz to save some space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jerryps80 from Great! It brings your wifi to your hifi. I've setup a NAS media (Synology DS418) and now I can stream my music collection (FLAC or MP3) to my Marantz amp. Easy-ish setup. App on your phone is a little basic - no search option to find an artist or track, so you have to navigate through categories such as Artist, and then scroll and scroll to find what you want.

Rated 4 out of 5 by kenjhill from Reasonable price, good sound, unobtrusive. It was difficult getting the Yamaha onto my network, then getting it to link with my Amazon Echo Dot, and with Spotify. I was on the verge of giving up, but eventually cracked it - I can now just ask Alexa to play music through my Hi Fi system, and am really pleased with the quality of the sound. It's certainly as good, if not better than direct from my CD player (I have a Marantz PM 6005 Amp and matching CD 6005). The stereo sound stage seems wider and well defined. It has probably rendered the CD player obsolete, for a fraction of the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Aeshna from Great 'starter' streamer I wanted to add internet streaming services to my much cherished system of separates but was reluctant to spend too much as I was not sure how much I would use streaming. I have to say that at this price (£119 paid) it is an absolute bargain. Sound quality of the free Spotify service is reasonable, though admittedly below CD quality, but radio reception via the internet is fine. Should I choose to subscribe to a streaming service in due course, I would be confident that sound quality would improve. Highly recommended if you want to try streaming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PetePete from Sounds great Much better sound than just connecting your device (in my case an iPhone) direct to an amp with a cable. Also noticeably better for listening to Apple Music than hooking up an Amazon Dot to the amp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChrisP_1961 from Excellent streamer for non connected HiFi The WXAD10 is an excellent addition to any non connected HIFI sytem, enabling streaming from NAS drive, or from subscription streaming services, It is simple to use, once set up. Setting up is not quite as straight forward, as it should have been, and the app created for Yamaha, only really works on Android, Not Windows 10, although it can be made to work it's not straight forward. I have no idea if it work on Apple, as I have no Apple devices, 3rd party apps may work, but so far I have found them to be unpredictable. Now that's out of the way, and listening starts, the sound from 192/24 audio files is excellent, there is depth and width to the image, and music flows natuarally, wihout emphasis on any part of the audio spectrum, It is detailed and enjoyable to listen to, it is also cabale of improving the sound from some copied CD's, as I upsample them to 192khz, 24bit, Given the price, this device deserves recommendation, if set up was easier, a 5 star rating would have received, if your system is already good, but lacks digital connectivity, this litlle device is a perfect addition, the next step up from this would be a dedicated streaming reciever / tuner, at 3 or 4 times the price

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Does exactly what it says on the tin! Tried one out and then bought another - set-up with hifi , downloaded Musiccast app and could play music through them straight away. Have both with a cable connection to the broadband so no wifi problems. They are neat and unobtrusive. Can play from an SD card in phone or streaming. Just got a NAS drive and will be loading that with my music files soon. Tip - connect using the mini jack rather than the phono cables and you can then control the volume from the app. Strangely not available from the shop but only online!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Very good sound Bought to stream music to my hi fi. I did my research on the internet and this model had good reviews. My system includes a Nait naim amp and Bowers and Wilkins C9 speakers. At first I considered a more high end DAC but thought I would trust the reviews. It is plug and play. I opted for the wired connection to my network rather than wifi. I downloaded the music cast app onto my Ipad and launched it. The combination of DAC, app and Ipad worked seamlessly. The DAC was detected and the app is easy to use. Whether it was Spotify connect, music on my device or lossless on my Imac via Apples Home sharing it all just worked. No connection issues at all. As regards the sound that is a matter of taste and of course equipment. All I can say is for me it is excellent. The predecessor to this DAC was an Arcam bought many years ago. This one matches its quality. In conclusion if you want a DAC for streaming then I would highly recommend it. The app is excellent and integrates well with Apple. I tried it on my Android phone. Again, perfect. Very good value for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amir27 from Great sound and options I bought it 2 weeks ago in the London Holborn store and got a great service by Judy. This tiny Yamaha device is connected to an Arcam alpha amp and to Neat Iota speakers. I'm happy with the results, it gives great options and I already used it to listen to Radio, Spotify and Tidal. When I tried to play from from my NAS server I could only get MP3 files to play but no the flac ones. I find a greater user experience to use it with Spotify rather than with Tidal, while couldn't notice a difference between the two although on paper Tidal should give better sound quality. I highly recommend it, especially when considering affordable the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bluemoodriver from Clever box! After a few false starts getting it set up (my phone didn’t offer me the password option the instructions told me to expect) I soon had some excellent Tidal music playing at high resolution and the freshness of the sound was fantastic. Silent, no flashing lights, no knobs or switches - just great quality streaming. Now for some active speakers for complete simplicity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stjohn27 from Breathed new life into my old Amp and speakers Bought this to replace a cheap Bluetooth adapter I'd been using with my old Amp and speakers. Spotify from my phone worked ok I thought but I was never happy with the sound quality. I am now. Directly streaming from the WXD10 has made a real difference, more depth and clarity. Simple to set up and then control from your phone or tablet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robin007 from Wow! Feature packed for a great price I wanted something that would allow easy access to my digital library, stored on my pc. It needed to be controllable by either a tablet/phone and play hi res files. Step up the Yamaha WXAD-10. WiFi, Bluetooth or network cable, all works seamlessly. Having just bought some Q Acoustic 3050's from Richer sounds this week, the quality is sublime, all controlled from the sofa. Top piece of kit for very little money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Steveg43 from Works really well I attached this little box to my NAD 3240PE amp which I’ve had for years and like magic I can now stream music wirelessly from Spotify. It also supports internet radio so a great addition to my Hi Fi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by furut7702 from Quick setup, good DAC It takes just a minute to link up to the phone app, then the app detected my NAS setup with DNLA server almost instantly and I was picking songs to play. It just works, no messing about. Sound it spot on too, all my tracks sounds like I know them to. The web browser interface to the wxad could be a lot better designed and have more options however. No password on access and it's not clear when a setting is saved. Nonetheless I'm happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by fitzroy from Perfect for my Radio Listening Because I live in a dense tree area my hifi would on occasions lose the radio signal or the signal would become distorted. The purchase of the Yamaha WXAD10 connected to the Internet has given me a crystal clear reception with no interruptions or distortions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarkBirdy from Easy to set up Very good unit, surprisingly small but and very easy to set up. I now stream music through my 40 odd year old Marantz App Sounds great (I use Dezzer Hi-Fi ) , best thing is the music is streamed from the device, your phone is just the controller. Have now brought more Music Cast devices on the back of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Catrin47 from A great little streaming device! Having seen this recommended online I was more than happy to pick it up for the same price from Richer Sounds. They only had one left but kept it for me. I was slightly dubious about being sold a cable for £13 when I later discovered that a basic cable was included with the Yamaha. However having listened to the device working and comparing the sound using both cables, I concluded that the extra outlay was well worth it. All sorts of streaming apps and radio broadcasts sound great through my traditional old hifi! I am really pleased with this birthday present from my wife!

Bought this last week after reading the features , Richer Sounds Edinburgh confirmed it would be compatible with my existing separates system ( all 1980/90s). Simply plug into amp, download app and it was that easy! Now able to stream Spottily, net radio as well as existing music collection digitally stored on iTunes, through my existing system -brilliant! The Yamaha unit itself is small, very unobtrusive and fits really well along side existing hi-fi- really has really breathed new life into it !
