Superb value noise cancelling headphones with a surprisingly impressive sound too, the Goldring NS1000 Expedition headphones are hard to beat.

Noise canceling

The Goldring NS1000 Expedition headphones provide excellent noise cancellation performance in two respects. Firstly, the large, wrap-around ear cups cover your ears and physically shield them, with the closed-back design helping to prevent sound leakage. Secondly, the latest Active Noise Reduction system counters background noise from planes, trains and other sources.

Class-leading sound quality
Although primarily noise cancelling headphones, the NS1000 Expedition's sound impressive in their own right. The large drive units offer a broad frequency response for a dynamic, powerful sound quality. The high quality, tangle-free cable also plays its part in providing a highly detailed and transparent sound. Over all, they offer a very balanced sound that doesn't drone out the vocals with an aggressive bass response.

Microphone for calls
The addition of an in-line microphone and pause control enables you to take calls on your smartphone whilst wearing the headphones. The Active Noise Reduction again comes into its own here, as it makes it much easier to hear the caller - even in busy environments.

Practical travelers
Using just a single AAA battery, the NS1000 Expedition will provide up to 40 hours of performance. Supplied with an aircraft adaptor socket, they're also ideal for long haul flights. A carry case also keeps the headphones protected from the bumps and jostles of travel when not in use.

Comfortable, practical and not least, decent sounding, the Goldring NS1000 headphones are the ideal travel companion.

Rated 4.4 out of 5by 90 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5by Excellent noise reduction, long lasting. I bought these two years ago. I do 4 flights a week to commute. I had found watching movies on the plane I had to dial up the volume to maximum, if you listen to max on the ground away from noise its terrifyingly loud. So enter the Goldrings. My local Richer sounds gave me a money back guarantee to try them out, and on my first flight I compared them with a fellow commuters bose quiet comfort model. They seemed to cancel the same amount of noise as the Bose, I run my tablet at 45-55% volume on all flights now. After 26 months they are still in perfect condition and I recommend them to anyone. Battery life is very long, they will accept any headphone cord, they work great with my android phone as a hands free kit, good in noisy airports. The only improvement would be If they could magically shrink into my pocket. But then the Bose are bigger.. 21 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5by Great build and sound quality at a great price. Very well packaged in a travel case with replaceable mini jack option. Build quality and sound quality is excellent and they are a pleasure to listen with. Best value noise cancelling headphones around. 07 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5by Great value and sound quality Returned a pair of Bose QC25 bought as a gift as many reviews stated they failed so before opening went to store to listen & the display models were broken while cheaper models weren't so took them back. Bought a Sony pair while at the Sony centre buying a camera... they were to be polite, rubbish. I knew the guys well in my local store and tried these... They are so comfortable & sound is great, controlled, not too bright with smooth bass. Unlike the Sony pair, the noise cancelling actually works but don't expect the Bose vacuum effect. They are big so not the best travel partner but a hard case allows them too travel. On the downside, they are plastic fantastic & not sure how they will stand up during use, only time will tell and I'lol enjoy every tune until they quit. Don't hesitate. 06 June 2016
Rated 2 out of 5by Mustn't Crumble The phones are large, and though they fold flat they still take up a fair bit of room in your case. I only use these when travelling (maybe 10 times a year) and was satisfied with the sound quality and comfort. On my last flight I noticed a bit of plastic had dropped down into my shirt. This morning, when I took the phones out of their case, another piece of plastic from the headband fell off. These aren't impact related, it appears that the plastic is perishing. I'm disappointed that the initial value and comfort will make this product review well, but that they inevitably seem to fail because of build quality. I'd advise Richer Sounds to stop stocking them for that reason. 03 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5by Great value noise cancelling headphones I really love the way these headphones sound, they provide nice smooth bass the way I like it. I was going to get a cheaper pair of AT but the sound sold this one. I use them with my phone - I definitely recommend an equalizer app to get really nice sounds out of it, without that it didn't sound that good, but neither did anything else. The noise cancelling is not the most powerful, it won't block out everything, but it does a good job for the price! They fit really nicely and found the build quality really good. The detachable wire is a great extra; makes it easier to put the thing away, and also makes addressing broken cords (if any) easy later on. I was most surprised with the added extras, you get an airplane adapter (the dual jack type), and a very good quality hard case that the phones fold beautifully into. I can't value much the pouches other companies provide as they don't provide much protection. I am really happy for the hard case as I bought these for travelling. 01 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5by Really made a difference when using during a flight I bought these specifically for use on holiday flights, after giving up previously trying to listen to iphone/ipad when using in-ear headphones without cranking the volume up! So, this was my first set of noise cancelling headphones and at a price point I felt I could justify paying. I tried them at the Leeds store where the staff where as helpful and accommodating as ever. I was impressed, but the real test was during the flight. All I can say now is WOW.....what a huge difference! They are comfortable and being over-ear they closed off a lot of noise immediately, but when the cancelling switch is flicked I was amazed how much engine noise they shut out too. I could hardly hear anyone around me, and only needed the sound level at around 50-60% to hear comfortably. They come with a 1m lead which can be unplugged from the headphones, two socket adapters, and a carrying case. They are slightly bulky I guess compared with others but not an issue for me. Recommended! 28 May 2016
Rated 4 out of 5by Great value and performance We already have a pair of these and decided to buy another pair to give to a friend who undertakes long haul flights. It takes out 90% the background noise allowing you to watch a film or listen to music in peace. Need to keep an eye on the food trolley though otherwise to don't hear it coming!! Bought from Richer Sounds.Ltd 27 May 2016
Rated 5 out of 5by As good as Bose, a fraction of the price! Try the Bose, then try these... They sound exactly the same but cost 60 not 250! They are a very comfortable pair of headphones that come with a really good case and detachable cable with microphone for talking on the phone. If anything happens to these headphones I will buy another pair without hesitation. Absolutely amazing for the price! 26 May 2016
