Superb value noise cancelling headphones with a surprisingly impressive sound too, the Goldring NS1000 Expedition headphones are hard to beat.

The Goldring NS1000 Expedition headphones provide excellent noise cancellation performance in two respects. In the first, the large, wrap-around ear cups cover your ears and physically shield them from outside noise. The closed back design also helps prevent sound leakage. In addition to this, the latest Active Noise Reduction system counters background noise from noisy planes, trains and other transport systems.

Although primarily noise cancelling headphones, the NS1000 Expedition's sound impressive in their own right. The large drive units offer a broad frequency response for a dynamic, powerful sound quality. The high quality, tangle free cable also plays its part in providing a highly detailed and transparent sound. Over all, they offer a very balanced sound that doesn't drone out the vocals with an aggressive bass response.

The addition of an in-line microphone and pause control enables you to take calls on your smartphone whilst wearing the headphones. The Active Noise Reduction again comes into its own here, as it makes it much easier to hear the caller - even in busy environments.

Using just a single AAA battery, the NS1000 Expedition is able to provide up to 40 hours of performance. Supplied with an aircraft adaptor socket these headphones are also ideal for long haul flights. A carry case also keeps the headphones protected from the bumps and jostles of travel when not in use.

Comfortable, practical and not least, decent sounding, the Goldring NS1000 headphones are the ideal travel companion.

Rated 5 out of 5áby For this price, truly unbeatable! If you expect studio headphones than those are probably not for you. However, for commuting they are nearly perfect. The frequency balance isn't the best I've heard, but for the price range they're amazing. You'd be hard pressed to find something better within ú200. Dave 28 March 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Good quality product at a competetive price Good quality sound and noise cancelling. Comfortable with very well fitting ear cups. Study design with an expensive appearance that belies the actual cost. Detachable cord. Well made case which is rather too large to make it easily portable. 28 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Goldring NS1000 expedition headphones These were recommended to me by another passenger on a flight home from New York. They are well constructed and are extremely comfortable to wear for long spells. The noise reduction features are excellent at countering the drone from the plane's engines. The sound quality is really very good and nicely balanced. They also come with a sturdy carrying case which protects them from knocks and bumps. Most of all they only cost ú70 which is amazing value ! I recommend these headphones without reservation 27 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 Great sound and noise cancelling Really good sound quality with the noise cancelling on and off. Ear pieces keep out lots of general noise and with the sound cancelling on keeps constant noise out. Comfortable, and the removable single sided audio lead good quality. Unfortunately the aircraft adaptor socket means the audio lead fitting has an extra connector (four instead of the usual three) so fitting into some players is fiddly to get a good connection. Could do with a standard stereo minijack lead. 24 March 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Impressive noise cancelling Excellent for the price and as good as some higher spec models. I find them uncomfortable to wear for any more than an hour and the on/off switch seems quite stiff to operate. Build is good and they do the job well. Furnished in a solid case which is really great. 24 March 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby This phones have great sound quality. I got these to replace a set of `Sennheiser HD 205's. They are very comfortable even after extended sessions wearing them. The base is present but not overpowering. I listen to a wide range of music from Mozart to Grimes and the sound is very natural. 19 March 2015
Rated 3 out of 5áby OK but have issues Noise cancelling with these is excellent. Bought for a flight but have used on train journeys and they take out all the low end rumble. Sound is balanced and no complaints in that score. Not too comfortable, I don't have a massive head but they really dig into my ears. Main problem is a lot of static crackle. Its intermittent but very irritating when it happens. Am going to have to return to shop. 24 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Good quality and cheap A product that punches above its weight. Good quality, great price. very comfortable. Most of the background noise is cancelled as soon as you put them on. Even the carry case is nice too. Sure you could break the audio cable if you are clumsy. I am not about taking calls on your smart phone whilst wearing headphones and using the mic. This was suggested in another review. Shouting at you phone on the train or outside you are going to popular! 24 September 2014
