Rated 5 out of 5áby Kangaroo99 Excellent piece of kit
As others have said, this is an excellent if straightforward piece of kit. I noticed a step-change from my previous amp (which was a bit ancient but also perfectly sound). At ú100, this represents excellent value.

I am a wanna be audiophile, which means I appreciate good sound, but don't have much of a budget. I have been running a 17 year old Kenwood amp/receiver and replaced it with the Cambridge Audio Topaz and I am delighted with it. I have reasonably good speakers and the clarity, separation and fullness is really good for an entry level amplifier. There are no bells and whistles (also no remote), but it really delivers with CD's, MP3's &TV/DVD.

Initially I purchased the AM1 for my office but I also had my eye on the AM5 for my gym and with the recent price drop I made my move. I couldn't be happier essentially it's the same as the AM1 but with more power, tone controls and a front facing MP3 connection. Having more power is definitely noticeable over the AM1, aesthetics-wise the front is more symmetrical if that's an issue for you. I'm running it with Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's, Cambridge Symphony 400, Denon DCD 520AE and Cambridge AUD500 0.3M. I am very impressed with the sound quality.

I really can't believe the value in this amp. I'm using it in my little 'study' (box room) hooked up to a couple of Gale Golds and it sounds fantastic. Everything coming through even at low (non wife bothering) volume. Loving the upside down input labeling on the rear as well. For the money just about the best amp I've bought for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Grandad02 Ideal for my music listening in my Study
Having been suitably impressed with a Cambridge Audio amp from further up in their range (for my larger Hi Fi system in the Lounge), I later elected to purchase this Topaz AM5, without auditioning it, for use in my Study, where I listen to music sourced from the Computer, Tuner, CD player, my old trusty JVC Compact Cassette player and if needed from the Mp3 player.
The amp is connected up to a pair of Celestion 1 speakers.
From straight out of the box, the AM3 has been very impressive, giving, as is the Cambridge Audio way of things, a wonderfully open sound stage. It makes the music enjoyable to listen to. Always for me the hallmark of a good amplification system. It appears the Celestions area a good match for this amp. Build quality of the amp is just fine in this purchase price range. I am very satisfied indeed.

Bought this to replace an ageing Rotel amp which I've had for 20 years. There certainly seems to be be more detail to the sound now, so much so that I wish I'd made the change earlier. The mp3 connection is also useful allowing you to plug in an iPod and play music you only have on download. You have to be careful though as the volume needs to be turned up when using this and if you forget to turn it down again when playing a CD you will deafen the neighbours. Bought it online and very happy with the process. As usual I bought the extended warranty the best value warranty available anywhere without a doubt.
