The Cambridge Topaz AM5 takes the excellent AM1 as its basis and adds those desirable extras to make an even more impressive amp.

Like the AM1, the Topaz AM5 has been designed from the ground-up to offer the best sound quality for the money without any unnecessary frills. There are no fancy equalizers or flashing lights but what you do get are high quality, low noise tone controls. These have been designed to work in a subtle way so as not to unduly affect the balance of the mid-range, yet still tweak the upper and lower frequencies.

With 25 watts per channel, the Topaz AM5 is a useful 25% more powerful than the AM1 which makes it the ideal choice for using in larger rooms or with power hungry speakers. As with other Topaz products, the sound quality is true-to-life, detailed and has far more depth than similarly priced low-fi. If you don't believe us, come in and hear the difference for yourself!

The AM5 is also far better built than the class average. A full metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel gives the AM5 the look of an amp' costing two or three times as much. In addition to the AM 1, there's also a front mounted 3.5mm socket that's perfect for connecting up you MP3 player or iPod.

For genuine hi-fi at a bargain price, the Topaz AM5 demands your attention.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Excelent Value The combination of speakers pre amp and amplifier is great value and produces the sound quality I was looking for. 14 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5áby Happy with the purchase I was recommended this product in the Brighton London road store. It was not particularly expensive (ú120). it looks very nice, sounds good, and was very simple to set up. I would recommend it to a friend. 02 September 2014
Rated 4 out of 5áby Can't get better for the price Okay, so my hearing isn't what it used to be, bought this amp with a pair of wharefdale diamond 9 speakers, it won't blow your socks off in terms of earth shattering bass, but even I can hear the quality of sound and prescence and, for the price is excellent even if only to get better tv sound 31 July 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 Good basic amp I bought this as a secondary amp for my dinning room. At first I was not at all impressed .But after running it for about 5 hours it started to improve. It is a very good no frills amp. The only gripe I have is that the volume control as no resistance to it .Also on the picture provided on the web site it looks like the little blue lights on the control knobs light up .They don't .Yes small gripe but it is best you know. 20 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Excellent quality even at low volumes I started using a very old JVC amplifier after my last amp lost a channel. I love my old JVC amp but decided to replace it when I bought a pair of Mission M33i floor stand speakers. The Topaz AM5 is a brilliant match, no frills but excellent sound. I listen late at night sometimes and do not like headphones, however this amp provides a depth of quality at low volume as well so all in all I am delighted and not bothering family or neighbours at unsocial hours! 01 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Cambridge clarity Bought for a secondary system with budget in mind. A failed amplifier (quite old) prompted this purchase and I was looking for a good sound at a low price. Some years ago I had a Cambridge P30 and was always impressed by the clarity this could produce into good speakers and this drew me towards the Topaz range of amplifiers. This new amp achieves the same clarity and control that I remember. Cambridge have maintained the none fussy approach to design and it has no useless frills or lights but is stylish and simple to use. I have matched the amp to Gale 3010S (budget) speakers and the combined sound quality is superb. The MP3 jack input is useful but the volume needs to be boosted quite a bit when using an MP3 player due to limited output from such devices. Nonetheless the sound produced is of very reasonable quality. I do believe that this amp could be matched with upmarket systems and achieve even better results 10 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great Performer Bought this to replace my 30 year old amplifier which finally gave up the ghost. After only a few minutes I realised I had been missing loads of previously unheard detail in my music. Solidly built with simple controls and easy to set up.. Recommended. Excellent service from Richer Sounds. 01 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Gave new life to my music I bought this amp to replace an almost 30 year old Technics model. The sound through the speakers just blew me away. There was a clarity and warmth to the music which I didn't ever got with my previous amp. The build and look of the Cambridge is stunning and the mp3 input really useful. I just wish I had updated my amp earlier. 31 December 2013
