Rated 5 out of 5áby Grandad02 Ideal for my music listening in my Study
Having been suitably impressed with a Cambridge Audio amp from further up in their range (for my larger Hi Fi system in the Lounge), I later elected to purchase this Topaz AM5, without auditioning it, for use in my Study, where I listen to music sourced from the Computer, Tuner, CD player, my old trusty JVC Compact Cassette player and if needed from the Mp3 player.
The amp is connected up to a pair of Celestion 1 speakers.
From straight out of the box, the AM3 has been very impressive, giving, as is the Cambridge Audio way of things, a wonderfully open sound stage. It makes the music enjoyable to listen to. Always for me the hallmark of a good amplification system. It appears the Celestions area a good match for this amp. Build quality of the amp is just fine in this purchase price range. I am very satisfied indeed.

Bought this to replace an ageing Rotel amp which I've had for 20 years. There certainly seems to be be more detail to the sound now, so much so that I wish I'd made the change earlier. The mp3 connection is also useful allowing you to plug in an iPod and play music you only have on download. You have to be careful though as the volume needs to be turned up when using this and if you forget to turn it down again when playing a CD you will deafen the neighbours. Bought it online and very happy with the process. As usual I bought the extended warranty the best value warranty available anywhere without a doubt.

I was recommended this product in the Brighton London road store. It was not particularly expensive (ú120). it looks very nice, sounds good, and was very simple to set up. I would recommend it to a friend.

Okay, so my hearing isn't what it used to be, bought this amp with a pair of wharefdale diamond 9 speakers, it won't blow your socks off in terms of earth shattering bass, but even I can hear the quality of sound and prescence and, for the price is excellent even if only to get better tv sound

Rated 4 out of 5 Good basic amp
I bought this as a secondary amp for my dinning room. At first I was not at all impressed .But after running it for about 5 hours it started to improve. It is a very good no frills amp. The only gripe I have is that the volume control as no resistance to it .Also on the picture provided on the web site it looks like the little blue lights on the control knobs light up .They don't .Yes small gripe but it is best you know.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Mikejust58 Excellent quality even at low volumes
I started using a very old JVC amplifier after my last amp lost a channel. I love my old JVC amp but decided to replace it when I bought a pair of Mission M33i floor stand speakers. The Topaz AM5 is a brilliant match, no frills but excellent sound. I listen late at night sometimes and do not like headphones, however this amp provides a depth of quality at low volume as well so all in all I am delighted and not bothering family or neighbours at unsocial hours!

Rated 5 out of 5áby Kazper Cambridge clarity
Bought for a secondary system with budget in mind.
A failed amplifier (quite old) prompted this purchase and I was looking for a good sound at a low price. Some years ago I had a Cambridge P30 and was always impressed by the clarity this could produce into good speakers and this drew me towards the Topaz range of amplifiers. This new amp achieves the same clarity and control that I remember.
Cambridge have maintained the none fussy approach to design and it has no useless frills or lights but is stylish and simple to use.
I have matched the amp to Gale 3010S (budget) speakers and the combined sound quality is superb.
The MP3 jack input is useful but the volume needs to be boosted quite a bit when using an MP3 player due to limited output from such devices. Nonetheless the sound produced is of very reasonable quality.
I do believe that this amp could be matched with upmarket systems and achieve even better results
