This page is intended to demonstrate the incredible value of our 6 Year Supercare. Under recent legislation, we are obliged to point out that you obviously do not need to purchase an extended warranty at the same time you purchase your electrical goods and are entitled to shop around. We have been encouraging our customers to do just that for years because, not only are our prices significantly cheaper than our competitors, but just look at what else we include:

Free loan machine (only if taken back to store)
Should you encounter a problem, just ask and you'll be provided with a unit to ensure you're not without music whilst your equipment is being fixed.

Like for like machine if unit is unrepairable
If, for any reason, we are unable to repair your unit, we'll replace it. Naturally, models do change so, while we can't guarantee that it will be the same model, we do guarantee that it will have equivalent specifications.

Free routine service / Maintenance checks
have your unit serviced as often as you wish, free of charge, during the 6 year period. (Normally excluded from extended guarantees).

45 day cooling off period
If you're not happy with our 6 Year Supercare package just ask for a full refund - no questions asked. After 45 days, providing no claim has been made, you can also terminate the agreement and receive a pro-rata refund.

If you use the policy in the 6 years, you'll have saved yourself tens and perhaps hundreds of pounds. If you don't use it...IT WON'T COST YOU A THING!*

* Simply return your unused Supercare policy within one month of the expiration date, and we'll refund the price of your warranty.

The Cambridge Topaz AM5 takes the excellent AM1 as its basis and adds desirable extras to make an even more impressive amp.

'Sound first' philosophy

Like the AM1, the Topaz AM5 has been designed from the ground-up to offer the best sound quality for the money without any unnecessary frills. So no fancy equalizers or flashing lights but you do get high quality, low-noise tone controls. These have been designed to work in a subtle way so as not to unduly affect the balance of the mid-range, yet still tweak the upper and lower frequencies.

Detailed, true-to-life sound
With 25W per channel, the Topaz AM5 is 25% more powerful than the AM1, which makes it the ideal choice for using in larger rooms or with power hungry speakers. As with other Topaz products, the sound is true-to-life, detailed and has far more depth than similarly priced low-fi. If you don't believe us, come in and hear the difference for yourself!

Front-mounted MP3 socket
The AM5 is also far better built than the class average. A full metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel gives the AM5 the look of an amp costing two or three times as much. There's also a front-mounted 3.5mm socket that's perfect for connecting your MP3 player or iPod.

For genuine hi-fi at a bargain price, the Topaz AM5 demands your attention.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Great quality without frills This is the sort of device I like - no unnecessary frills, just great quality. Control knobs are easy to use, smooth action, position marked. Easy to connect inputs from various sources. I like the front socket for MP3 player or similar device and I am already putting this to good use. Well pleased with the sound quality. 16 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby impressive! Very impressed by the amp, very easy to set up & use. Good value for money. 13 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Good budget amp I bought this as a second system and I am running Mordaunt Short M10s on it. The amp is basic, with no headphone socket or remote control. The only two features I have used is the power button, and the input selector. The sound it smooth, balanced and detailed. I like to only hear the natural sound of the speakers and the audio source (CD) so I don't use bass or treble as this artificially colours the sound making it unnatural. All you HiFi enthusiasts take note: if the amp and speakers are good enough, you should never need to use bass or treble. Talk to the guys in the shop, they'll tell you the same. This amp delivers what is required. That's it. 30 October 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby An excellent budget amp... This amp seems to have a very good overall sound balance with excellent clarity and is a good replacement to my older NAD amp that has finally blown it's main reservoir capacitors after serving a 20 year sentence! The tone controls on this amp do not permit very large changes in the bass and treble values and are notched at the mid-way point so it is easy to identify a neutral sounding position. There is good inrush protection on this amp so you don't get a sizable 'thump' from the speakers when switching on (the old NAD amp was rather bad at this!). It's a bare wire connection at the terminal posts - shame as I think banana plugs are a much better way of preventing unintended shorts etc. Would have preferred a detachable power cord (AM10 and higher have this) but otherwise cannot grumble - considering we paid a similar amount for an entry level NAD amp 20 years ago I think this is something of a bargain... 08 September 2015
Rated 3 out of 5áby Unit hums - what is happening to Cambridge Audio quality control? Great budget amp, but like a couple of other reviewers, the thing hums - badly. Not the signal, but the unit itself, and it's audible if you like quiet music! Now I know it's a budget amp - but the only thing wrong was the actual humming. And I had to buy a different amp instead and pay ú70 extra. A real shame. 02 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5áby Excellent Amp Connections are easily worked, excellent sound. Bass and Treble features work very well. 22 August 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Great value for money enrty amp Based on numerous favourable reviews I originally bought a Denon PM520 as a replacement for my a (very) old Cambridge Audio A1 but I was very disappointed. Fortunately, thanks to the fantastic service of Richer Sounds I was able to exchange the PM520 for this Cambridge Audio AM5 which to me is a far superior sound experience. To my ear, the Cambridge offers excellent clarity and detail, which provides an involving and enjoyable listening experience. I use this amp with an old Philips CD player, Denon tuner, and standard computer line output for MP3s, with wall-mounted Tannoy speakers. 06 August 2015
Rated 4 out of 5áby Good quality and value Nice amp, high quality sound, MP3 input useful for me. 13 July 2015
