"A big step-up from the older 6003 version, the PM6004 is very tough - if not impossible - to fault at this price" What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine.
Although an award winner itself, Marantz have really excelled themselves in bettering the PM6003. The new Marantz PM6004 is another winner in the making. Although it might look similar, it's inside where Marantz have made the serious changes. Usually the preserve of much more expensive amplifiers, the PM6004 benefits from separate pre and power amp sections, constructed from discrete components rather than the more usual ICs (Integrated Circuits). This gives the PM6004 an uncommon clarity and level of detail. As before, the PM6004 benefits from an impressive Toroidal power supply. Along with the large capacitors, this helps keep a tight control on speakers and gives music a generous sense of scale; far larger in fact, than you might expect from an amplifier rated at 45 watts.
Previous fans of Marantz amps will be pleased to see just as comprehensive a range of features as ever. Unlike many rivals, a Moving Magnet phono stage is including for connection of your turntable. Twin recording loops add flexibility whilst tone controls with a bypass function give you added control. Other useful features include a full remote control, two sets of speaker outputs and a headphone socket.
While the PM6004 is styled to match the CD6004, its matte black finish and standard proportions ensure that it fits in and looks good with a wide range of other hi-fi products. Its remote control will also operate other Marantz products, such as the CD6004.
Whether you're after an amp with a wide range of features or simply the best sound possible, the Marantz PM6004 is a serious front runner.
