"A hugely talented amplifier and a real comeback for Marantz." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine. Group test winner and 5-Star review, tested at £300.

SERIOUS SOUND QUALITY

Just like its predecessor, the PM6004, the Marantz PM6005 puts sound quality first. Usually the preserve of much more expensive amplifiers, the PM6005 benefits from separate pre and power amp sections, constructed from discrete components rather than the more usual ICs (Integrated Circuits). This gives the PM6005 an uncommon clarity and level of detail. As before, the PM6005 benefits from an impressive Toroidal power supply. Along with the large capacitors, this helps keep a tight control on speakers and gives music a generous sense of scale; far larger in fact, than you might expect from an amplifier rated at 45 watts.

NOW WITH DIGITAL INPUTS

New to the PM6005 is a built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor). By fitting a high quality Cirrus Logic 24 bit/192 kHz DAC to the amp, a whole new level of flexibility is opened up. With a choice of coaxial and optical inputs you can connect up many digital sources such as CD, DVD, Blu-ray players, TVs and even games consoles. By using the digital connection you're likely to gain a much better sound quality, due to the Marantz's superior processing power. As you'd expect from Marantz, the digital part of the amplifier is fully shielded by an extra metal housing, ensuring no electrical interference with the other parts of the amplifier.

FULLY FEATURED

In terms of analogue inputs, the PM6005 is comprehensively equipped. An MM (Moving Magnet) phono stage is built-in for use with a turntable. There are also four line level inputs and a recording outlet. Two sets of speaker outputs are included as is a headphone socket for personal listening. Bass and treble controls are standard and can be bypassed by the Source Direct control for slightly improved sound quality.

With inputs for analogue and digital, the Marantz PM6005 is a centre of excellence for your entire system.

Rated 5 out of 5†by This product has great features Having read some great reviews on this product I am definitely not disappointed. 19 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Excellent sound quality Bought it few day ago and I'm really happy of my choice. The sound is incredible clear. Excellent body quality, small so you can fit easily to your tv table. The bass is really deep but clear as well. If you looking for a good integral amp you definitely have to try this one. 18 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Excellent amp for the price All round excellent product. Would suggest they update the quick start manual to state that you must press the tiny speaker buttons otherwise it wont come through the speakers. Sounds obvious I know but they are easy to miss and it would have saved me an hour setting it up. Once all was set up though - WOW. 17 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Clear sound with easy to use controls very clear sound with excellent sound quality which really complements my Mission speakers. Easy to use controls and connectivity 17 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by fantastic i feel like i have a new system Was using an technics amp before and I can't believe the difference i am hearing vocals are clear instruments well placed sounds great with my marantz cd63 cd player which works with this amps remote 16 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Very good value in terms of money and musicality I purchased the Marantz 6005 amp. following a demo at Richer Sounds Chiswick comparing it with a £900 Roksan and a £160 Denon. The Denon was good value but a bit "steely", the Roksan was tight and accurate and the Marantz, to my ears in the Demo suite, was about 80% as good as the Roksan. Following home instalment I was even more impressed to the extent that I purchased the matching CD unit 48 hours later. I was then sent an email from Richer Sounds offering a £75 discount if I purchased a CD/Amp. at the same time..........bit late really! 09 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by words cannot express I bought this amp to replace a pm17 ki signature and the sound quality is on par this amp being 1/3 the price has exceeded expectation the sound is rich and full and it drives my monitor audio gold 3's with ease. All in all a great sub £300 amp you will not be dissapointed. 02 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by A lively amplifier This is a nice amp when using the analogue inputs. The internal DAC seems to lack some detail. Have also found the headphone socket to lack some detail. However when using with a good pair of speakers it sounds great, lots of details and punchy bass. I would recommend this to anyone who needs to drive speakers only. 15 July 2014
