Rated 5 out of 5áby Tecspecman Good old Richer Sounds Bromley branch !!
The other reviews say it all about the Marantz CD 6005 ..
I would like to point out that the owners manual states that only iphones
are compatible when in fact ipad and ipad mini work perfectly in the front Usb socket ..
Also rather than just play stored music from you device you can stream from it as well ... I use the tune in radio app on my ipad mini. Find stations that stream at the higher bit rates and you will be amazed. Toggle on the hand set between direct mode to remote mode and the station and track info is also displayed on the cd6005...
Just a quick thanks to Tim at Bromley branch tonight for digging out the last pair of Dynaudio DM 2/7s at a stupid price !! I am extremely happy..

Auditioned a couple of amps and this was the clear winner. Lovely defined sound. Everything I like when listening to music.

I bought this amp to replace a Cambridge Audio Topaz that was far too finicky (overloaded every 5 minutes for no apparent reason). Although the Marantz doesn't have the same eye-catching looks of the Cambridge Audio range, the connections (gold plated and better laid-out) and more importantly, the sound just is head and shoulders above it. Basslines are crisp and full, the vocals just come to life (listen to Revolver by The Beatles...Eleanor Rigby sounded like it was being sung live from the corner of my living room).
I paired this amp with a pair of Q Acoustics 2020i standmount speakers, and sonically I've been truly blown away by my new set-up...and considering the low cost of both pieces I am indeed a happy camper.

Replaced a surround sound amp that was not fit for purpose, nice sounding amp, the optical in and phono stage make it perfect for me so I can listen to vinyl and hook the telly up for films

Rated 5 out of 5áby Alison62 Replacement for an old amp
I bought this to replace my old Marantz PM350 amp I bought as a student in 1980. The sound quality is excellent producing a rich deep sound. I'm very happy with my purchase. Hopefully, it will last as long as the old one.

Bought as a second system in my lounge, I had a really good deal combining this with some Dali Zensor 1's. I had read many good reviews about this amp and I agree with them, this is a great quality amp at this price point.
It has all the power I could want for my 14 feet by 12 feet lounge. I use it mainly with a turntable for my vinyl but I have also connected it to my tv with optical cable, it sound much better than my old sound bar in conjunction with the Dali's.
The remote is a bonus allowing quick change to source input and also controlling volume. Overall I would recommend this amp, I had a great deal of about ú60 off the standalone price by buying it in a package but I would have been happy paying the ú299 it originally cost.

Rated 5 out of 5áby OneBox Wonderful value !
Well constructed, all controls have good feel.
Remote operates volume, source, source direct and mute functions.
When in operation the amplifier remains cool.
Although only rated at 45 Watts/channel it handles transients very well and is capable of going extremely loud when required.
Sound stage is well developed in both horizontal and vertical planes.
To my senior citizen ears the sound produced by the amplifier is neither too bright or too rich. Instruments seem to be produced realistically including piano.
The Marantz PM6005 replaces my Audiolab 8000A and represents excellent value for money and sonic enjoyment.

So I now have the PM6004 (purchased back in 2012) and recently added the PM6005 to my collection. I auditioned a number of amplifiers from the Cambridge Audio 651a, the Yamaha AS501 and this.
Out of all of them the two which sounded the best with my speakers KEF R100s were the Yamaha AS501 and the Marantz.
The Yamaha produced incredible sound stage and presence for songs which operated in the mid and high range but lacked a little in the low end.
The Marantz gave a more balanced musical tone over the Yamaha, but lacked a little in the mid range.
Am I confident that I made the right decision ? Its hard to say as Yamaha and Marantz were so close !! I would strongly recommend people audition their amps (with the speakers they are going to use) before purchasing. The guys at the Cheltenham branch were excellent.
I have only given this 4 stars out of 5 because it does not have a dedicated sub out socket.
