Rated 3 out of 5 by tatemare Far too bright
Decided to give it a try because of the brilliant reviews. With different sources and on 2 different set of speakers sounded bright, harsh, unpleasant for long listening, underpowered; unless your speakers are really dull on highs and mids, might be suitable for budget bookshelf speakers. If you have a setup with nice and uniform capability throughout the frequency range think twice before you go for this. Also looking at the bass and treble filters, placed at 50Hz and 15Khz with very high Q-factor results no control over the frequency range at about 200Hz - 10Khz.
All of you given 5 stars to this amp, do yourself a favour and compare against Cambridge Audio Azur 651A, then you will realise how far from nice your Marantz is.
Receives 3 stars because of the looks, soundwise is less.
I am convinced now you've got to stay well clear from every product that is praised on WHAT HI-FI and receives 5 stars.
Heather from your Watford branch is a real credit to the company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hatchetfish Great sound, great value
Sounds great, plenty of depth and a wide stereo image. Drives 4 ohm speakers comfortably, which I needed, and has plenty of inputs. Phono input sounds great . Seems well made; feels like a quality bit of kit. Great value.

I purchased this a few weeks after my wife bought me the Project Debut Carbon turntable for my birthday in October. I am not an audiophile, but I do view my purchases as investments so I want quality products that will last. Easy to set up and I used the PDF download from the internet rather than the cd provided. I have used it for several hours now so I would guess the "running in " period is done. I have to say I have been impressed with the sounds so far. Vinyl has more presence now and I have a range of albums "from way back when" to current, more technically produced albums. A favourite is Blue Lines - Massive Attack - on vinyl and cd and the bass is excellent. The cd player (NAD) seems to have found another dimension and gone up a level. I now need to save a few more pennies to get some speakers. Then I can see what the amp and the sound can really be like. Unfortunately I missed out on the recent promotion and bargains, but I will get some in the not too distant future . . .

Rated 5 out of 5 by DiscoLover79 Marvellous, quality piece of kit!
So versatile with connectivity, just perfect for me. I have this nestling in my "Elmob" TV cabinet and I'm able to run my TV, DVD/CD player, Turntable(see below) and Laptop mp3s seamlessly through the numerous digital inputs.
The sound quality in my wood floor apartment is just right. Plenty of lovely bass for my soul and funk collection, not overwhelming, but just sounds classy. Good treble tone too. The volume control has gone no higher than 60% but there is plenty more left in the tank if required.
There is also connectivity for a recorder too if I could think of a use for it.
I love my vinyl and needed the amp for a turntable, having re-vamped my 12 inchers! This amp fits the bill for that too, although turns out my turntable has a built-in pre-amp, in which case it simply needed plugging into one of the digital inputs and NOT the phono inputs.
I thoroughly recommend the PM6005 as it meets my high audio standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RonnieCl Does the business for me
I'm new to HiFi bits and bobs. This setup, recommended by Kelvin in the Liverpool store, really gives me a tremendous sound environment for a reasonable budget.
I would certainly recommend, without hesitation, all of the components as a forming a good starter entry level system

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nastro150 Great budget amp
I needed something to hook up to my PC via my Asus Xonar DX soundcard, after reading reviews on this amp i decided to go for this as it has a built in DAC and can connect via optical output..i got the package advertised on richer sounds which came with the Dali Zensor 1 speakers and after a year with using logitech Z506 5.1 setup i was amazed at the difference in sound..the amp is warm sounding, nice bass, mids and highs.. separation is awesome..although this is classed as a buget amp i thoroughly recommend it, for the price it wont disappoint..i bought it from the Milton Keynes branch and Adam was very informative and wasnt pushy when i asked for cable, stands and an optical lead..great store and great people, i have found a new hobby and i know where im shopping in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MP99 Great for the money
Been a while since i updated my hi-fi so i decided to set myself a budget, setting out to get some decent equipment which i thought would be value for money. This amplifier certainly delivers on that score.
The sound it delivers is excellent,.Plenty of punch but still well rounded. I listen to a lot of jazz / folk /classical music, they all sound good with this amp, especially good for jazz imo.
This amplifier has pretty much all the connectivity your going to need in the future so no worries about building a system around it.
