Combining a Pioneer AV receiver with a matched speaker system makes the Pioneer HTP072 an ideal introduction to home cinema.

Quality AV receiver

By using a quality AV receiver, the HTP-072 gets off to a flying start. With 100W per channel, the VSX324 AV receiver will keep going where most one-box AV systems run out of steam. Action films get explosive sound and thumping bass, with Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD and Pro Logic II decoders to get the best from DVD and TV sources. Ten surround modes plus a specific headphone setting are complemented by Pioneer's Front Stage Surround Advance system. Place all the speakers by the TV, and let the Pioneer do the rest.

New to this model is a front-mounted USB socket. Compatible with the Apple iPhone 5, iPad Mini and most older iPods and iPhones, the USB socket lets you play your stored music library and stream music stations via the phone, while control, device charging and on-screen album art are all supported.

Big sound from cute speakers
At the front and rear the Pioneer HTP072 uses compact, cube speakers. These give a surprisingly spacious and dynamic sound, and being so compact they're easily positioned. The front speakers are shielded so won't affect any stored data or CRT screens, while the centre speaker is acoustically matched to the other satellites but has a longer casing for a broader, more even spread of dialogue. Together, the sound stage produced by the satellite speakers is enveloping and fulsome.

The bottom end
To add some heft to proceedings, the Pioneer HTP072 comes complete with a powerful subwoofer. With 100W to play with and a generous woofer cone, it drives soundtracks along with real conviction.

Good connections
In terms of sockets, the Pioneer HTP072 has everything you need for a comprehensive home cinema system. Four HDMI sockets let you loop through HD sources and are particularly useful if your TV has only one HDMI input. Added to this you'll find a wide collection of audio, video composite and digital connections.

With one-box convenience and genuine separates sound quality, the Pioneer HTP-072 offers the complete solution to your home cinema sound.

Rated 4.4 out of 5áby 50 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5áby Very clunky unfortunately Sadly this av receiver continues to get worse for me. Regularly loses sound from hdmi inputs - the only temporary resolution that appears to work is to switch it and all connected devices off at the mains for a good 10 mins and try again. I have attempted the reset for this unit, however this requires pressing the 'band' button in conjuction with the power switch to turn the unit on. However the band button will not function as a band select but only replicates the function of the adjacent button 'tuner edit' meaning I cannot perform a system reset, which is only in the vain hope it will resolve the regular problem of hdmi input sound not being output via the unit. As it stands I cannot recommend this unit to others based upon this experience unfortunately. 16 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Excellent product Bought his for my son for his bedroom and he loves it. Has his PS4, Wii U, Xbox One and Now TV box plugged in and the sounds even the playing games are really good. 02 June 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great features & great price I bought this system from the Hanley store. Staff were helpful. They even carried it out to the car for me. Easy to setup and operate. Fantastic sound and plenty of inputs. 23 May 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Good entry level system I always say that you get what you pay for, in this case it's certainly true. It's a nice system for the money with booming bass and reasonable quality sound through the rest of the spectrum - audio that is enhanced specifically for these kind of systems sounds great but I'm finding that the output via ARC from my TV isn't quite so good, especially on voices. Functionality wise it's straight forward but obviously you don't get all the inputs and outputs of more expensive systems. I was a bit disappointed that the receiver isn't controlled by all TVs for auto on and off - it doesn't work with my Samsung UE37D6750. So you know what I'm comparing to, I bought this at ú199 to replace a package I put together at over ú1000 (Onkyo receiver with 2 x Cambridge Audio bookshelf front speakers and the Minx centre & rear surround speakers + sub), so overall I'm satisfied with the specification and performance based on the cost. 01 May 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great buy :) After setting up the whole system, I am really enjoying this product. I am no expert in this area but I'd seen a similar device at a friend's place and so I wanted to give it a try, as wanted an audio system for my house. The instructions that come in the box are helpful only to connect the speakers and the TV to the receiver but I found a full manual online, which is really helpful. It's only been a week and so far I've played music only through my iPhone/iPod but I am sure I'll enjoy watching movies henceforth :) This is my first receiver and the salesperson at our local store, Southampton, was helpful and friendly. He also gave me additional tips for the connections and cables that I would need. Overall, I am a satisfied customer :) (I think, I'm also the first female to review this product hehe) 24 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Good quality sound Purchased an "out of box" unit as wanted it quickly. It had only been used as a display unit for a short while. The AV receiver is a little bulky but fits well on my stand and has a good look. I have not been through all the set up options as yet but have watched films and listened to music and I am, so far, very impressed with it. The volume could start a little sooner. It is not until you reach about 30 out of the 75 sound volume numbers that you start to hear in any decent way. The Bass is OK and does shack the room a little, but I feel could maybe be a little deeper. I am all about the bass. ha ha. so maybe that is just me. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this product. 19 April 2016
Rated 4 out of 5áby Decent value Perfect for use in conservatory with PS4 , subwoofer fits nicely out of sight. Probaby too many pointless options on the amp , DTS surround sound or extended stereo all you need , right ? The USB port doesnt recognise my Nexus 5 either but that might be the phones issue . Have yet to give them some serious hammer but good sound though and speakers look nice so for less than ú200 , bargain. 03 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5áby Excellent all round, brilliant surround for an awesome price This system sounds fantastic, brilliant for films it adds a new dimension to the whole experience. Excellent also for PS4 gaming. You can hear the opposition behind you whether you are racing them or they are trying to shoot you, that can make all the difference in a grudge match against online players! My only(very minor) issue is that the set-up can be a little awkward and the system can be a little slow reacting to a change in input source, mine is wired to satellite tv, PS4 and Wii U; it can sometimes take about 20-30 seconds to switch over. Way better than any other home surround system I have tried and great value for money. 07 March 2016
