The Alumni is the latest in a long line of award winning home cinema speakers from Mordaunt Short.

Crucial to any effective set of surround speakers is a powerful subwoofer and the Alumni once again scores here. The cabinet may be compact, but that doesn't stop the 120 watt amplifier and 8", long throw, bass cone from producing a window-rattling bass response. Yet power is nothing without control and here too the Alumni 9 demonstrates its superiority over lesser rivals. Once properly set up, the subwoofer proves so seamless that it's difficult to detect its physical presence at all.

Finished in stylish matte black or ice white, the Mordaunt Short Alumni 9 subwoofer looks as good as it sounds!

If you're torn between an audiophile speaker package for the ultimate sound quality, or a "style" system then the Alumni 9 makes it easy for you - you can have both!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lives up to description on the web page - really good sound As the rest of my 5.1 speakers are Mordaunt Short ,this was the natural choice to buy to complete the set up - and lives up to all expectations. Very easy to install, and performs well tucked behind furniture in a large room. Plenty of power - havn't dared to turn it up to full volume! 26 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Look no further, this sub is perfect. If you are looking for a sub this one is superb. Easy to install feet and to hook up to system. A deeper base than my previous Tannoy. Great value for the money. 30 December 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Instant gratification Bought to replace a failing Cambridge Soundworks passive sub, and works very well with the original Cambridge satellites. Nice punchy bass, and can fill the whole house with bass as needed. As the description says, it's a good compromise between hi-fi & AV, and I have it driving movies from my Panasonic TV and music together with my 'old' Cambridge Audio A1 quite acceptably. 20 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great sub - no question about that !! I have to say it's great subwoofer, worth this price. haven't had any issue when installing feet's - it was very simple - even 10 year old could do it :) Easy to connect and set up :) I set volume on the sub in the middle and it's smashing, bass it's very deep, specially when watching movies. Can't imagine to have vol set to max as it would probably brake my windows - it's that powerful :) So, if you're looking for good sub with plenty of bass this is the one to go for!! 17 October 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by made big difference to budget stereo. I bought this to add a bit of depth to my ancient budget stereo (Cambridge audio A1 original series and Eltax Monitor III bookshelf speakers). I'm very impressed at the difference this has made to such old equipment. it's like a complete upgrade to the system. In terms of sound quality, bass is warm but defined and not too diffuse. Also thanks to Richer Sounds for excellent customer service and arranging new foot to be sent out. If I had a complaint about the product it's that the feet do not come attached to the unit, and the holes are not properly drilled out, making it quite hard to screw them in without wearing the head off the screw. The feet are essential as it has a port on the underside, so why do they not come attached? 31 July 2013
