Purchased these as a "make do" temporary pair for a secondary system and have been blown away by how good these can sound. Though very compact they manage to sound big, with a convincing, but not overblown or stodgy bass. They image well and present a clean sound, but need partnering well to get the best out of them. A warm or smooth front end will make these sound lacking in sparkle or openess, but put a neutral to bright front end with them (via a decent amp) and they will sparkle and give a sound that deserves to be called high fidelity. Don't skimp on speaker leads either, QED 79 strand works well. One negative; the terminals are fiddly. Best to invest in a set of banana plugs. They sound better as they break in.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Toldgit Small package, big sound.
Excellent service, from Richer Sounds and DPD.
Great value speakers now installed as rears in my home theatre system, upgrading from the Onkyo package ones.
They will need a bit of running in to achieve the full tonal range associated with the legendary Diamond range but even now the sound quality is impressive..
If you're looking for a compact quality budget speaker, look no further.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Ashf Lovely speaker for the price....
But I think I should have spent a little more and gone for a better speaker
As good as these are, they are slightly lacking at the top end treble and as I have a sub, this does seem to be a little lacking
They produce a lovely sound but I think I will use these as rears and get the mission mx1 soon
For ú40 though they are a super speaker! Although I note the price has gone up recently!

Bought these today Friday 21st March from the richersounds Belfast store - admittedly for a bit less than the price listed here, however even at the higher price would recommend these little speakers. I had been using other speakers however their sound quality was never ideal - perhaps as they unlike the Whafedales were not magnetically shielded. Work brilliantly connected to a Pioneer AV Amp that has both my TV and Nad CD player connected to it.

I got these in-store for ú39! They sound really great, I have them on a big wooden bookshelf about 3m apart and in that location they sound amazing. I use an 80's Pioneer amp which I think is 50wpc (hard to find the specs on it), and I haven't been able to turn the volume right up, at 75% they are LOUD! But still very very clear, with powerful driving bass that punches and vibrates through the whole room.
It sounds jaw dropping. (I only do this when the neighbours are out!).
At normal volumes they are fantastic and make me want to listen to all of my music to hear how good it sounds. I happened to catch a Radio 3 broadcast of some experimental sound art on digital radio, the textures, feeling of space and clarity of sound were out of this world.

An excellent compact speaker at a ridiculous price. I remember these speakers being available for ú100 not so long ago. Yes they have been superseded but as long as these speakers are available grab a bargain and you will not be disappointed. Very good build quality, although the veneer is a little thin and will chip if roughly handled. The overall sound is very impressive with bass that doesn't sound forced, largely due to the front port which allows the speakers to be put tight against the wall.. You cannot expect top of the range sound for such a bargain price, but they give MUCH better performance than many provided with mini/midi hi-fi systems. I have no hesitation in recommending the Wharfedale 9.0 if you have a tight budget and want the best sound for your money.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Richtea9012 Crazy good for the money.
Tempted by the absurdly low price and diminutive size I bought these on a whim. These are for the stereo section of my small surround system. I use large vintage Tannoys and AR speakers for my main system so I have a fair point of reference.
I am extremely impressed by these little fellas. They are crystal clear with good imaging. I find the over-exerted boxy bass mildly irritating but you can't have it all. How they can sell them for 40 quid I don't know! Of course they're not going to stand up to large speakers that cost 10/20 times the cost but they are very pleasant and I totally recommend them for a mini/second/surround system. A steal!
