I got these in-store for ú39! They sound really great, I have them on a big wooden bookshelf about 3m apart and in that location they sound amazing. I use an 80's Pioneer amp which I think is 50wpc (hard to find the specs on it), and I haven't been able to turn the volume right up, at 75% they are LOUD! But still very very clear, with powerful driving bass that punches and vibrates through the whole room.
It sounds jaw dropping. (I only do this when the neighbours are out!).
At normal volumes they are fantastic and make me want to listen to all of my music to hear how good it sounds. I happened to catch a Radio 3 broadcast of some experimental sound art on digital radio, the textures, feeling of space and clarity of sound were out of this world.

An excellent compact speaker at a ridiculous price. I remember these speakers being available for ú100 not so long ago. Yes they have been superseded but as long as these speakers are available grab a bargain and you will not be disappointed. Very good build quality, although the veneer is a little thin and will chip if roughly handled. The overall sound is very impressive with bass that doesn't sound forced, largely due to the front port which allows the speakers to be put tight against the wall.. You cannot expect top of the range sound for such a bargain price, but they give MUCH better performance than many provided with mini/midi hi-fi systems. I have no hesitation in recommending the Wharfedale 9.0 if you have a tight budget and want the best sound for your money.

Tempted by the absurdly low price and diminutive size I bought these on a whim. These are for the stereo section of my small surround system. I use large vintage Tannoys and AR speakers for my main system so I have a fair point of reference.
I am extremely impressed by these little fellas. They are crystal clear with good imaging. I find the over-exerted boxy bass mildly irritating but you can't have it all. How they can sell them for 40 quid I don't know! Of course they're not going to stand up to large speakers that cost 10/20 times the cost but they are very pleasant and I totally recommend them for a mini/second/surround system. A steal!

Rated 5 out of 5áby tunedin AT LAST! I own a pair of Wharfie's
I decided it was well about time to upgrade my loudspeakers. Funny thing, only a week before seeing these advertised, I was telling a colleague that Wharfdale's were my absolute fave speakers of all time. I've heard them before, but never owned them.
I can't ever remember what drew me to eBay in the first place, but I saw these advertised, made a phone call, got the details I wanted and the rest was simple. Buy them!
When they arrived, I thought: Hmmm, they're no bigger than the speakers I already have, so what can they do? Didn't take long to find out. Absolutely everything in each track I was listening to was crystal clear. All basslines were perfect, mids and highs were like nothing I'd ever heard before on my own system, yet knew they could be heard if you had the right hardware. Well, for me, these are 'it'. As usual these days, it ain't size that matters, but build quality, and these Wharfedale's have certainly got it.

I use these speakers as rear surrounds in my cinema setup. At ú45 they are excellent value and can be setup as a large speaker in surround mode. The bass from them is really good and this means that you do not need to redirect the bass to your front speakers but can enjoy the effects from a film straight to them..

The speakers are quite good for the price, Their small but do pack the punch. Quality of sound is really nice as well, I had them paired up with my wintage pioneer amp and they sounded lovely.
BUT there are few small griped with them:
- They don't have rubber feet at the bottom thus give out a lot of vibrations to the surface
- Audio terminal is quite small you need tiny fingers to get cables connected.
Overall for the price I would recomend these speakers for their great price and quality.

I've found these cracking little speakers to be so good, I feel as though I should be behind bars!
I bought the Diamond 9.0's as an upgrade to the budget speakers included with my Sharp Microsystem in the Kitchen - and what a difference they make! Firstly, they have a good weight and feel for such small budget speakers, and they look nice and smart to go with it; the woven mid/bass cone sets off the front nicely. They're also front ported, which makes them ideal in places where space is a bit tight.
Sound quality is very good, especially when coupled with a competent speaker cable. The 9.0's are very clear and smooth with music, and have a lovely rich tone when asked to perform spoken word. There is a good weight to the sound, although as you'd expect from such a compact package, very low bass is compromised. Having said that, crank them up toward their comfortable top end, and they can certainly throw a good punch at you - they are certainly willing to work very hard. Recommended!
