"We're beginning to sound like a broken record, but this is another quality set-top-box from Humax..." 'What Hi-Fi? award winner 2016'. 5-star review.

Your favourite TV in glorious HD

With free access to High Definition channels, the Humax HDR2000T is the perfect partner for your HD TV. In addition to free HD channels from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, the Humax will still receive the usual standard Freeview TV and radio services, so you don't miss out on your existing channels. Quite simply it's High Definition TV through your standard aerial for free!

Built-in PVR for recording
Also included is a built-in 500GB hard drive. This will record up to 300 hours of standard TV or 125 hours of HD TV, and lets you buffer for up to two hours - perfect for watching a programme from the beginning while it's still recording. The same facility also lets you pause live TV, while twin tuners let you watch a different channel to the one you're recording, or record two channels at the same time. As you'd expect, there's an easy to use 8-day on-screen guide.

Latest connectivity
Boasting the latest version HDMI connection, the HDR-2000T is equipped for the future. If you're still waiting for an HD TV you can use its SCART socket, and should you want to plug the HDR-2000T through your hi-fi or home cinema it's got both RCA phono and optical digital outputs. A USB socket allows you to plug in external hard drives or memory sticks for playback of saved media. The Ethernet socket lets you plug the HDR-2000T into your home network and take advantage of network updates and web apps.

Fresh style
This new style of Humax set-top box ushers in a host of improvements: improved connectivity, enhanced memory, reduced power consumption and smart looks within a smaller casing. Neater than ever, the HDR-2000T fits where others won't go. The two colour LED neatly distinguishes between recording (red) and standard operation (blue), while the sleek silver and black finish complements pretty much any TV.

Smart new looks and an enhanced performance, the Humax HDR-2000T/500GB is more impressive than ever.

HUMAX HDR2000T 500GB is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well done Richer Sounds Yet again! I bought one of these Humax PVR boxes a few years ago from Richer Sounds - absolutely superb! the What HiFi review probably under sells it. Two years on I have just bought another one - with the two networked and a NAS I can play anything we have recorded/downloaded anywhere in the house. This is so much more use than the naff TIVO from Virgin we originally replaced.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Open Box buy is Very Poor First day didn't work at all. Since when it's been unstable, prompting ridiculous messages on screen plus freeze frame picture & sound. Has been reset many times but no improvement. Rather surprisingly we even get the message on channels 1,2 & 3, 'no programmes are being broadcast on this channel'! The box has an orange sticker claiming that Instructions, Remote, Mains Lead, Interconnects, Dedicated Cables were all present. We were told the Instructions were missing but not that the Remote's batteries were missing. Only the Mains Lead was included. How it got 'good condition' added is beyond me. It's going back 7-2-17. We had its predecessor HDR-FOX T2, which served us well for the 5 years of bought warranty but broke completely in month 61 & RS wouldn't honour the extra (6th) year feature. Hence our having to buy a new PVR & the HDR 2000T is still a Best Buy in Which?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great PVR This our third PVR that we've bought. Always Humax. They have a good reputation for good picture quality. It does what we want which is to record programs for later viewing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Humax never disappoints A great wee PVR. Richer Sounds' usual high standard of service and value for money pricing!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality and easy to use Easy to use and good build quality. Only criticism is that you can't control the TV input channel with the Humax controller. Nevertheless a great box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice picture, easy to use - but goes onto standby I bought this when my old Ferguson Set Top Box died (and I lost many precious long held shows). Humax was recommended as a brand by a relative in the telecoms industry. It was set up for me by my relative and the "standby" function was switched off, as I always unplug everything in the evening. The picture and sound are great. It's taking me a while to get used to the layout of everything - I don't have a Smartphone or tablet (enough computer work at work!) and so the look is a bit modern (!) but I will get used to it. When the room is quiet, you can hear it whirring a bit. The bit that is disconcerting, though, is that I come back home having set recordings up, to find the box on standby and it has to be switched on again. The recordings have worked, it's just off-putting, as you switch the TV on to get a blank/"No signal" screen then remember the box is on standby. I know we switched Standby function off, so I don't know why it does this and wish it didn't.
