Engineering from a class above
For some time now, the Pro-Ject Debut has been a near default choice in the budget turntable market - and for good reason. Rather than adding fancy automated mechanisms, Pro-Ject has always concentrated on giving the best engineering quality possible for the money. Following on from other award-winning Pro-Ject Debut turntables, the Debut Carbon DC offers a stunning specification with sound quality to match.
Carbon fibre tone-arm
The key feature with the Debut Carbon is the addition of a carbon fibre tone-arm tube. Usually only found on much more expensive turntables, a carbon fibre tone-arm tube provides significant benefits to the sound quality. Being stiffer than steel, the tone arm is more rigid. This helps convey the music more accurately as there's also reduced arm resonance. In short, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed than before.
Tweaks taken from the SE model
The revised Debut Carbon comes with a larger and more stable platter, providing a more solid bass response with added weight, while improved motor dampening using Sorbothane helps give better isolation. In terms of sound quality, isolating the motor means less background noise and a more dynamic and revealing sound.
Engineered for purity of sound
The rigid plinth with anti-vibration feet is ideal in providing a similarly taut sound quality. The motor itself is decoupled to further reduce vibration. Using a brass bearing housing and stainless steel axle, the platter hub is superbly engineered and built to close tolerances for fine sound and longevity. There's also a good quality Ortofon cartridge included, so it's ready to go straight out of the box.
Updated styling
With its gloss black plinth, the Debut Carbon looks far classier than previous Debut III models. Combined with its high quality engineering, this Pro-Ject turntable really does give the impression that it comes from the class above.
For quality vinyl replay, pure and simple, there's nothing to beat the Debut Carbon DC at this price.

Class at a good price.
For quite some time I have wanted a belt driven turntable and in RED. Here it is! Wow!!
This turntable is beautifully made, simple, nothing fancy but exudes class. Completely manual operated but easy to use. Once you have got it on a flat and level surface it plays effortlessly and what a sound. Of course it deserves a good amplifier and speakers to give it the best. Breathes new life into your LPs. For my pocket it is expensive but maybe for some it is a bargain either way it is worth it. Also you can get it in many colours too. This is a good make and it is made in Europe! You won't be sorry if you get one.

Looks the busines and sounds great
I was looking for a clean looking deck that achieved a decent level of sound quality without spending a raving fortune. The Project Debut Carbon fitted the bill. The help before and after purchase from Exeter store staff was first class too.

Very nice turntable
Great turntable. Amazing sound. The anti-skating weight should have a better fitting as it is falling when the dust cover is being closed. Apart from this tip top.

Makes a difference
Excellent piece of kit, big improvement on CDs and more standard turntables, but you do need similar quality amp and speakers to make the difference.
Always buy my Hi-Fi kit from RS, service, advice delivery can't be beaten.

Great and affordable product
The product is definitely worth its price. The sound is amazing and soft, even if plugged into a poor speaker set. I tried this on the record for which I have a CD equivalent and the difference is easily heard so it does fulfill its most important function - provides the quality sound expected.
Although fully manual, it is not complicated to set up and use. The most tricky part was setting the arm balance but still not a mission impossible ;). The design is perfect, modern and classic in one, and it is a very solid and well built item. It comes with a catridge so is basically ready to use almost straight from the box, unless you need to get a pre-amp.
PDC may seem a bit costly but if one does plan to listen a lot, it may be the best choice as it seems to be a product for years, both in terms of sound and product quality. I was considering a Pioneer one as I have sentiment to some old brands but sadly to say it looked very plastic. I am really happy with this purchase.

Project Debut Carbon. Why would you not ?
I've had my heart set on the Debut Esprit, until I chatted with Alan from RC, Brighton. He said that for the money the Debut Carbon was exceptional value for money. Well he certainly wasn't wrong. In red it looks stunning and to my non audiophile ears sounds the sound it just as good. On Record Day RC gave me a free CA 551P, which I've hooked up to my Mac via a set of QD performance 2RCA to 3.5mm jackplug. The sound is output via a CA DacMagic to a pair of AKG550's. It might to some eyes not be an orthodox set-up but for me it works.
As I'm not an audiophile, I'll use 'normal' words.... It sounds great. 'Wide' sound through both ears and with detail that I've never heard before from my 1980's collection of LP's, which range from Simply Red through to AC/ DC. I'm a normal bloke and for me set-up was a tad confusing but only regarding the counterweight. Should I screw it all the way ? The short answer is 'yes' but check out You Tube and you can't go far wrong. anyway a great sounding TT.

Looks and plays beautifully……lovely!
I am very pleased with this record player. It looks great and plays great too. I would highly recommend this record player to any one seeking to purchase in this price range. You do have to remove the platter to change from 45rpm to 33rpm, so bear this in mind if you like to switch between the two, as it is not available at the flick of a switch.

Thiplayer exceeds my expectation. The design is really good. Looks fantastic in red. Easy to put together and just sounds amazing. If you have a budget then this is the one to buy
