A step-up from the award-winning 220, the Wharfedale Diamond 230 brings added bass into the mix.
Strong bass with style
Ideal for medium-sized rooms, the Wharfedale Diamond 230 offers the deep, powerful sound you'd expect from floorstanding speakers whilst keeping the overall dimensions relatively compact. Using a second, dedicated bass woofer, the Diamond 230 punches hard. Not only does this second woofer unit increase the depth and volume of bass, it also helps to 'fill out' the sound at lower volumes, making this an ideal speaker for use at all volume levels.
Class-leading sound
As with other Diamond 200-series speakers, the woofers are formed from woven Kevlar and feature textured ribbing for added rigidity. A revised magnet system gives even tighter control of the sound. When combined, it gives the Diamond 230 a precise, accurate sound with a crisp mid-range and true sense of realism. At the other end of the scale the treble unit is surrounded by a deeply dished waveguide. This helps to improve the imaging and 'width' of sound, making it easier to pick out individual instruments. The treble also provides loads of detail without ever sounding unrefined. Put together, the overall sound quality is fantastically well-balanced and natural with a solid bass to underpin the music.
New cabinet for improved sound and finish
New to the Wharfedale Diamond 230 is a sandwich cabinet design. Rather than the simple chipboard and MDF used by the previous Diamond 155, the new 230 uses particle board sandwiched by MDF on either side. This new type of construction gives superb rigidity and damping properties, helping to further reduce the already low levels of distortion. A further benefit is the smooth, MDF construction that offers up a cleaner surface for the veneer to be applied to; meaning a smoother finish all round. Also new is the gloss finished baffle, making the speakers far more pleasing to the eye. As before, the Diamond 230 ports the bass via an integral plinth, rather than the more usual front or rear holes. This not only provides a more efficient and even bass output but also makes the speaker easier to place as you don't have to take wall positioning into account as much.
With its effortless all-round ability, the Wharfedale Diamond 230 is hard to beat.
