The Q50a speakers use a key KEF technology to great effect - the Uni-Q drive unit. This involves positioning the treble unit within the throat of the woofer, creating a single point source for sound across the frequency spectrum. With all the Atmos sound effects coming from single point sources either side, the precision of sound is breath-taking.
Easy to position
Adding Dolby Atmos to your existing system is easier than you might think. With a Dolby Atmos or DTS-X equipped AV receiver you can use your existing 5.1 speaker set-up. Then simply add these speakers to the front channel left and right. They can be placed either on top of your existing front speakers or mounted on the wall just above. Once in place, the height of the soundstage grows hugely, with effects such as falling rain and helicopters flying overhead given incredible realism.
Styled to match KEF’s Q-Series
Finished to match the KEF Q-series speakers, the Q50a speakers are available in either matte black or white. The sleek finish makes them unobtrusive and the narrow width of just 180mm means they'll fit on top of all but the skinniest speakers.

Fantastic Speakers!
I bought the Kef Q50a to replace my Dali Zensor 1's and I am amazed with the improvement! Thr Uni-Q driver is awesome, far superior stereo imaging , just fantastic! Can't recommend these enough. They have sloted in perfectly to my other Kef speakers/ Yamaha RX-A3080. Thank you Richer Sounds.

Kef Atmos speakers
The kef50a Dolby Atmos are a superb addition to the surround experience. Easy to install and sound sublime. From helicopter's flying overhead to hearing thunder and lightning with the rain filling the room. Don't miss out and get a set. Brilliant.

Great sound, poor build quality
I bought these as I’ve been really impressed with KEF’S uni-q sound technology.
But the build and paint job of these speakers are poor, especially wen comparing them to less expensive atmos speakers.
Also having a sticker for the logo, seems a bit cheap for £400 speakers. I would have preferred the logo used on there other speakers in the same range.
