Pitched between the 3020i and 3050i, both of which are multiple award-winners, the 3030i could prove to be the perfect-sized Q Acoustics speaker for you. Taking its bass woofer from the larger 3050i, the 3030i delivers a deeper, more powerful bass than any previous 3000-Series standmount speaker. De-coupled tweeter for superior detail
Because the bass woofer is so powerful, the tweeter unit is decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, meaning that it isn't affected by bass vibration. The soft dome tweeter delivers a top-end that’s both smooth and detailed.
Braced cabinet for low distortion
Using CAD (Computer Aided Design), the cabinet makes use of Q Acoustics’ unique point-to-point bracing. I bought these just off the back of reading many reviews, all of which were very positive. I would say if you don't have a big room, don't buy these. Firstly they are really big standmounts and to be honest you'll need a sizeable stand to accommodate them. Secondly they are tending towards bass heavy which could overpower a small room. I initially had these in my study but they have now made their way to the living room where they sound a lot better. They really benefit from having a decent amount of space in between them too. I have them paired with a rotel A11 tribute and then a cambridge audio m200 dac for digital or modified aiwa (was a present) record player with rega mini phono stage and gold e3 cartridge. They are probably the weakest link in the chain by price. They do provide a lovely big sound stage and a dynamic listen and if you just want to thump out some rock, they will sort you out. If you have a smaller room I wouldn't touch these, they just don't make sense and if you have a larger room with floor space, get some floor standers. If you however have a large space and inset bookshelves with a generous 40cm of space behind them (specific right) these are for you. I have given them 5 stars because they work for me but I can equally see a situation where you could have a lot of regret if you purchase these. I might suggest the 3020s with a subwoofer but I have actually listened to these at richer sounds when trialing something else and in their listening room which was sizeable they sounded a bit weak and I left thinking I'm really glad I don't have those speakers. It's a ramble of a review, if you feel you might want to put your hand a little deeper in your pocket as I am thinking I might, the new 5000 series looks exceptional and I will probably trial the 5020s. I hope that is useful to someone.

Excellent sound for the money
I auditioned the 3020i and the 3030i in order to make an informed decision and I am glad I did because I have found the sound of 3030i to be superior in all aspects. I think the 3020i need a subwoofer, otherwise the bass is somehow lacking (in my opinion). With the 3030i I feel the bass is so good that I don't need a subwoofer.
I was afraid initially that the highs might not be too well reproduced because the bass might be too dominant. I am glad to say the highs are good (a bit on the warmer though). I like good highs and I am definitely pleased with the highs the 3030i reproduce. My advice is to pair this with an amp which has tone controls so that you can adjust the bass to your like.
I used these speakers for the TV and I am very pleased with them as TV speakers. I don't feel I need a soundbar.
I watched and read many reviews before taking a decision. All of them described the 3030i's sound characteristics well, however, I think it is important that you test the speakers for yourself before buying. Sound is something very personal to you.
Unfortunately Richer Sounds do not have these available for testing in their stores, so if you want to test them, you have to do this in the competition's stores. I hope Richer Sounds is going to resolve this problem in the future.
I am very happy with the 3030i and I highly recommend them.
Oh, yes, one more thing: a good pair of speaker stands is a must with these, so make sure you budget for the stands as well (new or used ones).
