The Yamaha A-S301 directly benefits from Yamaha's ToP-ART and ART construction, which ensures that left and right channels are perfectly symmetrical throughout the design and signal paths as short as possible. Complementing this circuit design is ART (Anti-Resonance and Tough) construction. Bluetooth and digital inputs
With hi-fi systems being asked to handle more and more digital sources, Yamaha has equipped the A-S301 to cope with ease. Both optical and coaxial digital inputs are on hand to connect up your TV, CD player or other source with a digital output. Add the optional Yamaha YBA-11 Bluetooth receiver and you'll be able to effortlessly link up your smartphone, tablet or other Bluetooth equipped device, giving you simple, wireless music streaming.

In addition to the digital connections, the A-S301 comes with a wide range of other sockets. There are five line level inputs, two recording loops and a phono input for your turntable. More unusually in a stereo amplifier, there's also a subwoofer output. There are two sets of, separately switched, speaker sockets and a headphone output. Good looking Amp, Retro style.
Had it a couple of weeks now and I have to say it's a classy bit of kit. I went from a Sony AV receiver, which was OK but too many switches and buttons, to this Yamaha AS301 with minimal buttons etc... Highly recommended. *****

I bought this to replace a 35 year old Yamaha receiver, and am very delighted to say the sound quality and sound detail is much better

Nice finish, sounds good
I'm not an audiophile so can only say that I'm very happy with the sound. Fixed non-removable power cable is very annoying as fitting cable through small furniture gaps requires cutting the plug off, leading the cable through the gap, then fitting a new plug back onto the cut cable - next model grade up (Yamaha AS501) has removable cable with small size amp connector so could be fitted to all models. Casing is large, possibly unnecessarily so standard casing can be used for higher grade models. Nevertheless I'm very satisfied particularly with the massive discount allowing me to buy better class gear than expected.

Have lusted after Yamaha's A-S1000 since introduction. But it's out of my budget. Being overtly pragmatic, I went for the A-S201. One week later I called up Richer Sounds Swiss Cottage and explained that I wanted something with more oomph and crucially - Loudness control as I live in a flat. Staff were helpful and understanding. Settled for A-S301: Loudness control, 80's looks, Top-ART and bears a likeness to the A-S1000.
Mission M33i's hooked up to the amp. I listen to variety of music: For less urban sounds I tend to use Direct Audio which eliminates. For urban sounds, I find myself cranking up bass, treble and volume.
Titanium front panel, delicious control knobs and switches, (especially the volume which is tapered for a lovely feel) no push-buttons, optical input and cd-controlling remote.
