Just as with its award-winning predecessors, the CXA61 puts sound quality first. The 60 watt amp delivers a smooth, yet detailed sound that’s at home with a vast expanse of music genres. A built-in ESS DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) means you get the best from your digital, as well as analogue sources. Thanks to standard Bluetooth, you can now stream music in top quality aptX HD. All this, plus the Lunar Grey CXA61 looks more stylish than ever.
DAC for digital
Featuring a built-in, reference standard ESS Sabre ES9010K2M DAC, the CXA61 works wonders with your digital audio and video sources. With two optical digital inputs and one coaxial, you can connect up to three digital sources, such as a games console, TV and a CD transport – the Cambridge Audio CXC makes the perfect match.
Stream wireless music via Bluetooth
Now a standard fitment, Bluetooth offers simple, wireless music streaming from your mobile, tablet or laptop. The Bluetooth receiver is compatible with aptX HD, giving the highest quality sound possible from Bluetooth, right up to 24bit/48kHz. You also get the benefit of the sound passing through the ESS Sabre DAC, meaning precise, detailed sound from all your streamed music.
Now you can enjoy USB audio, with Hi-Res sound
New to the CXA61 is an asynchronous USB input with Hi-Res handling for the best in computer audio. You can connect up to your laptop, PC or server and stream Hi-Res music, right up to studio-quality 32bit/384kHz and DSD256. As well as improving the sound over your computer’s soundcard, the asynchronous ‘direct control’ link also greatly reduces jitter, for lower distortion and more precise audio.
Analogue audio – including front socket
The Cambridge CXA61 also has four line level inputs - enough for all your analogue sources. A pre-amp output is also fitted – ideal for power amp upgrades. There's a 3.5mm front-mounted input, perfect for connecting an MP3 player or smartphone for quick and convenient playback. Other handy connections include an RCA subwoofer output, headphone socket and connections for two pairs of speakers.
Connected for installs
A wide range of control sockets make the CXA61 ideal as part of a more complex home installation. RS-232C, IR input, trigger in/out sockets and Control Bus RCA phonos mean the CXA61 is more than happy to work with a wide range home automation control systems.
Vibration resistant casing
With rigid, metal construction and low-resonance design, the casing helps shield the player from both mechanical and electrical interference, helping to improve clarity and reduce background noise. Isolating feet help adsorb vibration for a further reduction in distortion.

Great features and outstanding sound performance
Purchased a few weeks ago and extremely happy with my new Cambridge Audio CXA61. A couple of years ago I burnt my CD and media collection on to my old MacMini and set this up as a music server, using Audirvāna as catalogue manager. My new CXA61 has on board high quality DAC which is perfect for the interface to the Mac, but most off all the sound quality is outstanding.
The folks at Richer Sounds we very responsive to my order and I was able to collect next day after the order was processed. Great price too.

Great sound quality
I bought this 2 weeks ago and although the sound is superb, the first channel out stopped working. I swapped the cables to the next in line and that seems to be working fine.

Really improved my set up!
Was recommended this over the product I’d gone into the store to buy. Dubious that I was being sold a product that Richer Sounds are paid to promote I decided to look compare this with other amps of a similar range, including what I’d looked into buying. I have to say this came out on top and I’m very pleased with the product, has given my system a new life.

Great amp
After 16 years of almost daily service, my Cambridge Audio Azur amp failed and, to disappointment, Richer Sounds viewed it as beyond economic repair. More or less on impulse, I bought a successor, the CA A61. So far, I'm delighted - a clear improvement on the Azur and it drives my ageing Ruark Talisman II speakers better, and has the advantage if Bluetooth for streaming. I'm quite satisfied. .

Beautiful sounds and quality - worth the upgrade!
I wanted to upgrade my 25 year old Denon amp which has served me very well and was satisfied with the quality of sound with my custom made speakers. I was going to by a more recent Denon model. However, I am now a full covert to Cambridge Audio having bought the Cambridge CXA61. I listened to various amps in store, but decided the amp of choice was definitely the Cambridge, it won hands down. It is without doubt of the highest quality - my custom made speakers have a new lease of life (who knew they could still sound so good after 25 years). With the Cambridge CXA61, all forms of audio (digital and analogue) whether TV, radio, CDs, movies or the like are just superbly crystal at the same time beautiful with such depth, clarity, richness, harmony and quality. My listening experience has been brought back to life with this beautiful amp. I cannot recommend it enough. And thank you Terry at Richer Sounds, London Bridge branch for your expert knowledge, support and assistance!!

Great purchase!
I accidentally shorted my much loved Audio Analogue Pucinni integrated amplifier...don't ask! So I needed a replacement very quickly.
I called the Exeter branch to discuss my requirements, and spoke with the very helpful and knowledgeable, not to mention friendly Steve.
He took my needs on board and suggested the Cambridge Audio CX-A61, I had already been looking at this amp alongside a couple of others, so I was already aware of its specifications.
I bought one of the limited edition black ones which look really good!
At first I was a little underwhelmed, but then reminded myself that it had been a few years since I had purchased a brand new amp and I should give it a bit of 'burn in' time before making any critical decision of how it sounded.
A few days in and the amp is really starting to come on song, and I have no doubt will exceed my expectations!
