Supports a wide range of digital formats, including MQA
The DacMagic 200M supports a wide range of digital files, right up to 32bit/768kHz when connected via USB (24bit/192kHz coaxial, 24bit/96kHz optical and 16bit via Bluetooth). The USB input also supports native DSD files up to 512. MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) – as used by TIDAL Masters – is also compatible.

Very Impressed with the sound quality
Decided to upgrade my D/A convertor for a little project mixing/listening room due to it's ability to support MQA and 192kHz which has come in handy for Tidal and mixing (not sure when or where I'll be listening to 768kHz audio anytime soon but it's useful to have the capability; future proofing I guess). It's quite a punchy sounding amp, quite clear and precise and seems to pair well with the Dynaudio LYD 7's that I running so far. A feature I would find useful is if you could switch to the headphone stage on the source selector so you don't have to keep plugging and unplugging the headphone cable when you want to switch between those and the monitors. Can't really comment on the Bluetooth side of things as I haven't spent much time with that feature. Overall a great dac which I'd recommend. I think to upgrade from this, in a home studio environment, I think I'd need to start looking at the rack mounted D/A converters.

Good but lacking the wow factor
I already had a Dac Magic Plus from 3 years ago, and this was bought as an untested replacement. Also bought a Dragonfly Cobalt as a comparison. The 200M turned out to be only a mildly better dac, whilst the Cobalt blew them both out of the water. This is a very personal choice of sound style, but with my Grado 325 headphones, the Cobalt was the clear winner. I also like that I can take the Dragonfly with me if I go away, rather than stuck to a desktop.

Called the Edinburgh store about this product and assistant said they didn't have one in stock but could get it ordered and sent to me - it arrived less than 48 hours later and is now set up and filling the room with fantastic sound.

I bought the DacMagic 200M to use with my recently purchased MXN10. This allows me to use headphones to listen without turning the rest of my system on. The sound quality ,value for money and the inclusion of Bluetooth, also the ability to take the volume control out of circuit, are what attracted me.

New heart of my desk sounds
Arrived this week. Very simple to set up.
I bought a set of new Cambridge SX-50 speakers powered by an old Maratz Amp (circa 2007!) I can upgrade in the furure.
So why the DAC Magic200M.
I wanted to attempt to journey back to the level of quality listening pleasure I enjoyed back in the late 90's with a real HiFi system (won't bore you with old but great tech). BUT Spotify with its (320kbs max) subscription has dragged its heels in order to provide a higher quality streaming service. So I stared researching what would fit me best. I'm all Apple here - for good or bad, and I realised that I could even save monthly subscription ££ by ditching Spotify and moving my family subscription to Apple Music inc Apple TV +. OK I save £2 a month.
Now have 200GB iCloud storage (meh - not that big a deal), Apple TV+, and the biggy - up to 24bit/192kHz streaming! now you're talking!
So now my regular listening set up is :
1. Apple Music on my Macbook. Hi-Res enabled. running Big Sur (needed for Hi-Res)
2. this DAC Magic 200M connected to my MacBook via USB
3. (old) Maratz amp. (upgrade soon..)
4. Cambridge Sx-50 speakers.
Some points to note:
I downloaded and installed Audirvana with 5 x copies of the same test track in 16bit / 44.1 up to 24bit/352.8.
The 200M seamlessly switches to support the stream being sent. Great proof that my set up is capable of the full range of formats.
I signed up to a trial of Tidal to test the 200M MQA credentials. Again the 200M performed as expected.
Apple Music - my intended source. Well Apple Music does not allow control of the 200M (unlike Audirvana), so I was confused when playing a 24/96kHz track that the 200M replorted only 44.1 kHz. The problem (not surprised) is Apple software! After runing the Audi MIDI Setup app on my MacBook, I could select a new default for output format - I could crank it up to 24/768kHz, but its best to match what you typically put through, in my case 24/192 of Apple Music.
I'm still to find any of the illusive 24/192 tracks on Apple!
All in all - M200 - perfect!

Very satisfied
I bought this DAC as I needed an upgrade for my new headphones and got a reccomendation from a friend. Since setting it up it has consistently blown me away with the improvement in clarity of the music I'm listening to, in particular being able to properly appreciate the clarity of drums in the songs I'm listening has brought a whole new dimension to my listening experience. The unit itself is also very attractive: uncluttered, but still easy to use. I haven't got anything in particular to compare it to but I am very happy and will continue to be for a long time.

Vast soundstage, impressive musicality, the purity of a Cornish Seascape.
I find myself listening to music l own but haven' t played for years, the ultimate recommendation for me.
