Over the past half-decade, the Clearway has won countless awards for its class-leading performance. The latest ‘X’ version uses high performance XLPE (Cross Linked Polyethylene) insulation. This replaces the previous PVC and is as fitted to Chord Company’s high-end cables. XLPE outperforms other materials in Chord’s listening tests and offers superior insulation for reduced interference – giving a smoother, more natural sound with enhanced detail.

High quality shielding

A protective PVC jacket is also applied, which again serves to further reduce any mechanically induced noise.

Very much improved sound!
Used in conjunction with some twentieth century kit: Nakamichi amp and CD player, Mission 732 speakers, and a choice of two Project turntables. Just a huge improvement.... depth, clarity and specific precision across a range of genres. Highly recommended!!

What a difference
I went into the Reigate branch with the idea of changing speakers , but after a lot of advice from Scott who suggested I upgrade to some decent speaker wires and a lens of some wires . I chose the upgraded wires with “ trousers and banana plugs “ . The sound is so much more detailed . Great advice and service by Scott .

Sounds great. Difficult to hide/route
Changed to this from another cable I’d been using for 25+ years on the glowing online reviews from popular hifi magazines and on the advice from staff in the Cambridge store - to better suit the Cambridge Audio CXA 81 amp and Kef LS50 meta speakers.
From my existing cable I noticed an overall increase in general punch and warmth to the sound. (Remember this only person in comparison to my old QED silver plated cable)
The chord is very chunky and stiff. So it’s tricky to make it go where you want it to it tends to just want to cool up in large rings rather than bend in any way. Not a problem for me but may be an issue if you need your speaker cable to go around any kind of corner.
Top stuff. Happy with my choice.
