Bargain Price, Great Sound
Fantastic sounding turntable at a bargain price with great looks as well. Easy to set up, excellent sounding arm and cartridge with a smooth and transparent sound. The onboard mm phono preamp allows you to plug in and play in minutes. Switching from inboard to external phono preamp is a bit fiddly due to the small size of the rear switch and care has to be taken when removing and replacing the lid, other than that no complaints at all. Considering the cost of this package is about the same as the cartridge in my Xerxes/SME/Sumiko/Musical Fidelity/Dynaudio set up this turntable is a steal at this price. Great service from richersounds as always.

Reliving my youth
I finally succumbed to buying a turntable after over 30 years of not being able to play my album collection. A little bit of research and I settled on the Roksan Attessa and Richer Sounds was an obvious choice as the retailer to go to. The turntable is a very solid piece of equipment, no fancy gadgetry (you have to lift the stylus when it gets to the end of the record), and the sound quality played through my Arcam amp is excellent. Great service from the Leicester branch of Richer Sounds and an excellent price for the turntable.

I bought this turntable a little while ago and I am now very happy with it. It did take a few attempts to set it up properly, I would advise downloading instructions rather than just trying to follow the instructions provided with the turntable

Super fast service from RS, Great turntable
Unbelievably fast service from Richer Sounds in T-Wells. A conversation with a store member trying to locate a unit in stock resulted in an effortless telephone order at about 17:15 resulting in the unit being delivered by 10:30 the following morning by DPD. Absolutely brilliant!
The Attessa performance in short; dazzling, lively sound and easy to set up. A great addition to your setup.
The turntable setup at first seemed a bit convoluted and people have mentioned a need for continual adjustment. I found it 'OK'. The idea of the unipivot, gimbaled tonearm seemed a bit over the top to be honest (why? other turntables that perform brilliantly don’t have it, none of my others have it) and setting up the tonearm might have caused some concern but in practice it was a doddle. The supplied scale seemed to work well although the pitch of the screw for counterweight adjustment could be finer. A slight adjustment when closing in on the 2g level results in some messing about to support the tome arm and make minute tweaks until you’re happy with the level. I erred on the side of just heavier on the cartridge as I found that some records (mainly older vinyl) that aren't perfectly flat will cause the cartridge to intermittently catch the record as the tonearm slowly lowers…. Ooooh so slowly on the vinyl. Speaking of which the (weighty) turntable platter takes a little time to gather momentum to make the required RPMs, although this is nicely presented by the blinking indicator which goes solid when up to speed. Some folk might like a showy, slow approach to the whole theatre of playing (and stopping) your vinyl but I’m not convinced and I’m not a fan. Get it on and hit play, hit the volume… job sorted. Not the case for the Attessa. It’s certainly a zen approach to playing your treasured vinyl and although the sound is excellent it could do with some real life tweaks. The tonearm lowering-lever is a little too close to the tonearm. My hands aren’t small and I feel like I playing Jenga when using it. The cartridge pick-up arm on the headshell is too short and too shallow, if you’ve got normal fingers you’ll find it cramped to lift the tonearm ( as there is no auto recovery or auto-lift on the tonearm when play is complete). Finally…and this is a massive oversight, there is no lock mechanism for the tonearm. OK, there is a deep-ish cradle for the arm to sit on but the arm is still essentially free to be knocked off its perch especially when introducing the cover back to the turntable when finished. The cartridge is protected however by a branded flip up/down cover. I’ve seen some queries regarding using the turntable dust-cover whilst in operation… you can’t… it’s too snug even when the tonearm is stowed…but why would you want too anyway? The turntable looks too good to cover.
