'Half pint' size
With a height of just 70mm the Onkyo TXL50 is less than half as tall as similarly priced AV receivers. This means that it fits where others simply won't go and, crucially, has room to keep cool. It also happens to be one of the cleanest and sleekest looking AV receivers on the market. A clear display is flanked by just a handful of controls for a minimalist style.

Full-sized power and powered subwoofer output
Despite its compact size, the TXL50 compromises little when it comes to power. 80 watts per channel (at 4 ohms) gives plenty of power for all but the largest rooms. The power comes from a Class D amplifier that's not only powerful but cool running, too, making it ideal for the compact TX-L50. A further, unusual, benefit with this AV receiver is the powered subwoofer output. This lets you use a passive subwoofer although an active one can also be connected by the usual RCA sub output.

Quality Onkyo sound
For signal purity, Onkyo use discrete output stages rather than inferior IC chips. Although more costly to produce, discrete amplification offers many benefits including a purer sound, better dynamics and reduced heat build up for improved reliability.

Google Cast, AirPlay and Bluetooth
It's easy to stream music from your smartphone and tablet with Googlecast and AirPlay onboard. Link up wirelessly and stream your stored music or favourite music services using Google (Android) or iTunes (Apple) operating systems. For universal compatibility, including many laptops and PCs, Bluetooth wireless music streaming is also available.

Wi-Fi, Tidal, Spotify and Internet radio for the complete networking experience
The TX-L50 also comes with Wi-Fi, Internet radio, Tidal and Spotify. Simply connect to your home network using an Ethernet connection or Wi-Fi and you can access thousands of Internet radio sites via tunein as well as subscription services such as Spotify Connect and Tidal.

Add a wireless speaker with FireConnect powered by Blackfire
Using the latest FireConnect by Blackfire technology it's possible to create a multi-room speaker system - wirelessly! Simply add compatible Onkyo wireless speakers and you can mirror what's playing on the main system in another room.

If all this connectivity weren't enough, the TXL50 still works great as a hi-fi amp. Two line inputs and two digital connections are ample for most home entertainment systems. You can even plug in your turntable, thanks to the dedicated phono (MM) input - making a total of five inputs.
