The X factor
Replacing the PTFE insulation with high performance XLPE (Cross Linked Polyethylene) improves the performance of this already impressive cable. As used in their high-end Signature XL cable, XLPE outperformed PTFE in listening tests. Superior insulation reduces interference, giving a smoother, more natural sound with enhanced detail.
EpicX taken to the next level
With its specially chosen soft PVC internal jacket, optimal spacing and shielding minimises mechanical noise. A high density braid and foil shield is applied to each set of conductors and this is in turn protected by a translucent outer jacket, again chosen to reduce unwanted mechanical noise.
The shielding difference
Fitting effective shielding to speaker cable can make a noticeable difference. The reduction in background noise means that very fine tonal information is easily heard. This brings improvements not only to the high frequency performance of a system, but also the bass and mid frequencies.
Top quality Ohmic plugs as standard
Rediscovering Ohm’s law meant Chord switched from gold plating their speaker plugs to silver plate. Silver outperforms gold in terms of conductivity, meaning lower resistance and, hence, less signal loss. By happy coincidence, many of the Chord Company speaker cables also use silver-plating, thereby keeping the material consistent throughout the amp to speaker link.
